These games have some actually incredibly well-researched commentary. Despite the vast amount of anti-war stuff out there, I haven't actually really ever seen any of it criticize the Bush administration and the whole war with Iran based off of the same excuse until Helldivers. Same goes for the newly added termicide towers, which I believe are a reference to DEET (a bug spray given to soldiers that was found to be incredibly toxic).
I mean we know thats wrong because they're an advanced alien superpower. They can probably print nukes like paper. The trick the government played here is framing the problem as "they have WMDs", when the actual, less worthy of support problem is that "they *_also_* have WMDs".
Undemocratic joking aside. Knowley saw that the other type of helldivers content is done to death at this point. And this POV will be a refreshing piece of new content.
If I understand correctly, the cyborgs might have been birthed from the severe mining operations that were being done on cyberstan, their work conditions so poor that integrating lost limbs and parts was practically a necessity.
Me personally I think the cyborgs did get enhancements but they were used for mining then they rebelled and made there own enhancements so previously they used super earth enhancements but then switched to there own ounce they rebeled
While I love the overly blatant propaganda most people use to tell HellDivers story, I do appreciate just pulling the curtain back and seeing what's actually going on. Or at least what we can know from what little we get from all the propaganda twisting the truth.
@@Bolt451the only real issue I see with that is the fact that the super earth military is less of a traditional one with infantry or whatever and it's pretty exclusively just special forces spammed to their fullest, which means compared to the other faction super earth wouldn't have any real variety
i do enjoy that the treasonous approach to Helldivers content is still very much grounded within the setting, with the "THIS BROADCAST HAS NOT BEEN APPROVED BY THE MINISTRY OF TRUTH" message at the start, recounting the history of Super Earth like an actual history rather than fictional canon/lore, etc etc. one of the most powerful elements of the Helldivers community is the dedication to the bit when it comes to roleplaying, it really does feel like the developers, players, and content creators are all acting out the story of Helldivers together and I'm very excited to see people start to branch out and start playing the other side of the coin. looking forward to more dissidence against the Ministry of Truth and the lies of Managed Democracy, and i wish you luck in evading the Hellbomb currently being dropped on your grid coordinates by Super Earth loyalists as we speak!

Always happy to get more lore vids from kknowley. Branching out from a "main series" can be hard for youtubers, but I've always liked the lore dives from this channel more than the challenge runs.
I feel like Helldivers 2 would benefit from the Tanya the Evil form of narrative. For those who haven't watched it, Tanya the Evil takes place in an alternate version of WW1 with magic. In this series WW1 and WW2 kindof blend together. Tanya fights on the side of "The Empire" which is pretty much Germany. It's stated at the beginning of the story that the Empire will lose: much like in the real World Wars. Helldivers 2 can do something similar where Super Earth's genocidal thirst for conquest will result in it's downfall. Super Earth can be doomed to loose, then when they finally do Arrowhead can just reset the game board.
It’s what happens in Helldivers 1. I fully expect it to happen again in HD2. Either we will clear the Galactic map and “win” or we will fail to stop a push of one of our enemies all the way to super earth and “lose” It would be a great opportunity to refresh the game after a longer period of time. We keep the war bonds that we have paid for, but get reset on all our unlocks, and the great galactic war begins anew with some new twists.
Ok but on a serious note, i can't wait to see how arrowhead will handle the illuminates this time around. Where automatons are already a fairly tough competition, a technologically advanced species will definitely be a tough competition 😊
This roleplaying stuff has been done to death, if you really want people to play the game quit roleplaying (which will likely push them away) and tell them how fun the game is regardless of story.
While I don't currently plan on signing up for the armed forces, I will be eager to follow the developments of the Helldivers' battles. As in, even as someone just following the fandom, Helldivers' story is quite engaging.

Even though there is zero hard evidence to support it, I like the theory that the hell divers of the player characters in HD2 are clones. The recruitment process is real, everyone is cloned, and those that show promise (actually survive) are cloned repeatedly. Every time you step out of a cryo pod, that’s a new clone being thawed out. Connecting to play with a friend is thawing out your clone on their super destroyer. Not only would this explain how any kind of military success would be possible, despite hell divers having such an abysmal survival rate, it also feeds the super earth propaganda machine. It’s easy for someone to be a legendary hero if you can combine the successes of all of their clones and conveniently ignore the times they died.
I prefer the 40k idea of having such massive amounts of people just living on top of eachother that you just can't run out of them. (Note how even the propaganda video shows rows upon rows of stock prefab block homes.) And that would absolutely be possible, if you look at the numbers. Not only is there also the Super Earth Armed Forces (SEAF) but if you look at the amount of Diver deaths vs. Automaton and Terminid deaths, and succesful operations, you can see that they check out.
I think cloning would completely ruin it. And it doesn't even make sense. Every time you spawn anew, it is made VERY clear and obvious that you are a new diver from the super destroyer freezer, from your random voice and body alone.
But regardless, I love how invested people are, to the point that people are talking about the lore and everything. Hope to see you out there, fellow diver! 🤝

I honestly would like Super Earth to lose the 2nd Galactic War. For 1 because they deserve it, 2 the internal contradictions of their own ideology breeds failure, and 3 it'd make for a more interesting story.
From what i heard the devs are aware of this and with the way the war is going, I can reckon that this will be the story for Helldivers, I hope we get a PVP mode where we get to play as Treasonists who fight back against the helldivers by partnering up with Automatons, Terminids, and Illuminates.

To be fair regarding the terminids, humanity is hard wired to hate arthropods. It is literally in our nature to fear and wish to destroy bugs. Blame scorpions, who were the earliest predators of our earliest land fish ancestors. It’s a very old and deeply ingrained instinct.
tbf what made me fear bugs the most are the documentaries I've watched as a child, where they said the venom or poison of said bugs can kill you or even cause severe injuries, till this day I'm still quite cautious about most insects lol

@@derpherp1810 They said in no uncertain terms they're not doing PVP. Having to rebalance and account for PVP & the toxcity it brings, along with their experience being almost exclusively coop PVE w friendly fire elements makes me believe they mean it when they say no PVP ever.

To be fair regarding the terminids, humanity is hard wired to hate arthropods. It is literally in our nature to fear and wish to destroy bugs. Blame scorpions, who were the earliest predators of our earliest land fish ancestors. It’s a very old and deeply ingrained instinct.

tbf what made me fear bugs the most are the documentaries I've watched as a child, where they said the venom or poison of said bugs can kill you or even cause severe injuries, till this day I'm still quite cautious about most insects lol

I love this game and i admit it is fun to larp as a super citizen keen on democracy, but its gotten so bad in the community that the actual lore of the series is obscured.
