Grea, informative video! Thanks so much for showing how everything works and fits... Heading over to smallrig to make some purchases now! Keep up the great work!
Just watched video. Very nice rig man, im gonna have to start including you in the mentions in the facebook group from people who know wtf they are doing!
Hi, I am from Latvia! I love your video Sony a7iv setup! And I almost have all parts:) from video! But I don’t understand which cables you have from Came-TV mount battery to Atomos?!? Can you link it?! And the second can you link L- hdmi from Atomos to Sony a7iv!?
Hi, Thanks for taking time to show and explain your approach to rig building with Sony a7iv. I just subscribed to hopefully learn more about your video journey with the a7iv. It seems to me that most UA-cam reviewers swear by the a7Siii, but at only 12 M pixels that's a non starter for me as a full-on experienced stills photographer who is totally new to video. Bought same a7iv camera (originally for stills with a view to also learning more about video) and I'm attempting to work out what's best for me in terms of video accessories. I'm likely to always be stills orientated, but I'm open to change, new ideas and keeping my options open. There are a plethora of options and it's tricky to know what's really required (essential vs quite useful vs nice to have vs surplus or non optimal). If video becomes serious for me then I might consider an a7Siii as a second camera. I recently sold my a7Riv (didn't need 61 Mp) and sold my a9 (was thinking of an a1, but then a7iv was introduced so decided on that first and keeping an open mind on 2nd body (but do miss speed of a9, so leaning towards an a1, but it's pretty darned expensive and I do wonder if a7Siii might be better option (certainly for video but not stills in sport - one of my interests). I appreciate how you show small things like reversing the v-mount battery. I have already made some sound kit investments. But now attempting to work out rig requirements and whether I need a Ninja v or v+ etc. it seems there are many alternatives (eg Small Rig cages, top handles, side handles nato vs screw on via tool etc) and not all are good (well optimum, anyway) choices. Without a good understanding it seems easy to 'buy twice' and waste money. What I really need is good advice and someone who's already been there to learn from.😢
Thank you 🙏. I me the A7iv is the perfect balance of stills and video. 33 mp is more than enough for my stills needs. I have considered the A7siii for video but instead I got a second A7iv. You do loose 4K 120 and have a cropped 4K 60 but I am able to work around those with lens choices. If you are looking to do sports professionally then the A1 or A9 maybe the way to go. I don’t do a lot of sports but when I do, I am still able to get by with the A7iv. They key is knowing the limitations of the camera and learning to work around them.
Very thorough and with good details about what the source of the pieces is. My only problem is you didn’t show any wide shots of using this rig or anything from various views - you did the whole thing in close up. but nevertheless, thank you very much!
Are you able to adjust your variable ND with the Mattebox on? Or do you only use camera functions to adjust exposure, especially in run and gun situations outside? -Nathan from AFWT22!
Nice setup mate. Have you made any tweaks to this since recording? Would love a follow up video on your thoughts on this and what new changes you've implemented and why :) Personally I'm wary of using dummy batteries only because of horror stories of various units sometimes doing a power spike that fries the internals of the Sony... so I've opted for the USB-C route. I know it doesn't sustain enough power but it's enough to keep me shooting for a full day non-stop (did a test from my V-mount to USB-C on the camera and got over 9 hours). The camera sips power through USB-C so it works well for me. Would be nice if SmallRig did a v-mount battery plate that has 2x USB-C ports and a D-tap :)
i just got a smallrig 99 v mount and i think its the perfect choice if you're looking to power up your sony via USB-C, because youre right its the safest option
@@ChannelGeekyGaming What about the overheating? I heard that when you use a dummy battery, it doesn't get that hot, thus the camera doesn't overheat. But if you use your sony battery powered by smallrig 99 v mount battery, perhaps it might get hot? I'm looking for good powering options, so I'm not sure which one to chose
Beautiful set up you got there , questions, do touch function for focus works on the atomos ninja while been connected to the a7iv? Do we keep face tracking ? This function was not available using the a7iii Thanks in advance
Looks good. Try using a mini shark fin v mount. Might give you the weight and stability that keeps the power for twice as long as well as a give you a certain look for production value but also a feel as far grabbing the camera for handheld stuff.d that’s how I roll! I like the battery situation inward.
Most of the parts I used were parts I had from my previous rigs. I only had to get the case. If you are starting from scratch then you should budget between $350-$450
Hey bro I see both your external monitor and your camera display are both working. When I connect my external monitor my on camera display switches to only the external monitor through the hdmi. If you have any suggestions on how to correct this I’ll appreciate it.

It's okay to power the camera from 5V usb output from vmount battery directly to camera usb-c port ?
Yes you can. However you may have to have a battery inside the camera.
@@evermoremedia Okay :D Thanks !
Can you record Prores Raw using Ninja 5 with the Sony A7iv?
No. You can record in ProRes but not ProRes Raw. The Sony a7 IV doesn’t not output Raw over HDMI.

How long does the battery power your rig for?
How much battery life with the mini v mount to a7iv and ninja v?
About 4 and a half hours
