    This is so old. Spanair airline no longer exists and Terminal 1 was still under construction. I would say this is 10 years old video from the date it was uploaded

      you can also see it by the cockpit, there is the analogic third altimeter instead of the digital one on the newer A321

      Nothing impressive. There's a reason there are two pilots and that procedures are divided between the two.

    A bit sloppy on the check lists - hard to tell if she did check the item or just passed it. Nice if you know the procedures but there should be a real two person check

    Initial ATC giving pushback clearance was a cocky jerk. How hard is it to clarify “West” instead of standard procedure if it’s clear the crew doesn’t know?

    • @AviationHubOfficial
      @AviationHubOfficial  5 років тому +9

      FrenchFruits it was pretty much a mess up by all parties involved. Barcelona does have a “standard pushback” taxi direction schedule based on which are the active runways at the time, and had the crew looked at the airport charts they would have known to pushback facing west based on the current airport information (ATIS). With that said, I’ve never seen this practice anywhere else and it is totally counter intuitive since pushing back west from gate D5 has them facing away from the runways and towards to terminal!
      Both the crew and the ground controller should have been on top of the standard procedures. Or maybe the airport needs to re-write those procedures to make them less confusing, I bet this is not the first time this has happened...

      Yup exactly. Crew should've know procedures but still in the moment they do explicitly ask ground "push back west or east?". Would've been easier for the controller to simply answer the question instead of push for procedure. Problem started by crew but exacerbated by ground. Oh well, cool little mix up to see on video!

      Thats how spanish ATC works... they don‘t know shit and let you run in to a lot of unnecessary problems.

    Why do they have to disconnect the N/W-Steering manually prior tu pushback? Is it because the ground crew didn't insert the steering-pin?

    • @lmover4235
      @lmover4235 5 років тому

      PilotstreamTV Switching off from the cockpit has no real meaning if the steering pin is inserted. Some airlines like to do it anyway in their SOP's, but I have seen no benefit.

    Why do AB's cockpit look like the inside of Russian planes?

    When it's a 50/50 on the pushback and you get it wrong xD
    Very funny how they were facing like 2-3 planes lined up by this "standard pushback"
    Strange routines

      Definitely it is... Did my training in Barcelona, i was based in Sabadell ( LELL ) and does not matter where you go, they are always like that, the only exception would be Girona ( LEGE ) which they are pretty cool and professional at least from my experience flying there... As my intructor used to say, SPAIN is a PAIN lol

    "I have control" said the co-pilot, but somehow manages the commander of the aircraft.Interestingly, this Madam itself flies at all?usually commander flies there, the co-pilot-ago..
