Very nice of the crew to perform a butter-smooth landing when Mentour is recording an information video.
Easy, it was an Airbus, not this other brand. ;-)
I am a former Vueling cabin crew, so I've almost burst into tears watching one of "my" NEOs landing in my beautiful, old base. Working in those planes is such a delightful experience. No noise at all. You can pretty much hear any whisper. I hope I can become a pilot soon, so that I can hop back inside these beautiful machines that planes are...
They are beautiful. O live near JFK and planes flying overhead still make my heart pound. We were little kids when dad took us to plane spot.
I’ve been around airplanes as long as I can remember, worked as an aircraft mechanic for more than 10 years, worked on Air Force bases in sight of the runways for 32 years, flown all over the world, and it still amazes me to see them fly!
It does, doesn’t it! I’m the same.
@@MentourPilot You do know that YOU fly them, right?? LOL
@@jockspringer9457 I'm controlling the computer I'm typing this on and I still think it's a miracle and a technological marvel.
Just retired from the AF as an E/E (electrical and environmental), guy myself, plus my parents were crew chiefs. I just don't get why people don't stop and look up with me. Pretty safe to say I'll never get tired of it.
@@unvergebeneid as a software developer I usually end of swearing at them not marvelling 😁
BTW are you sure you're controlling it or is the software controlling you😎
That is incredible window footage! Usually it is so hard to get a good image through the fog and scratches on the panel before the glass. Thanks for yet another great video.
You've never heard this from me, but you can "mask" the scratches in any plastic by wiping them with water. Works for warped glass too. Like in old timey hour meters, if you couldn't read the count right, you could use a bit of water to make the glass "transparent" (i know, sounds odd).
@@aserta And you remove the fat from unwashed hair that is always smeared on the window YOU get (and never gets removed by the cleaning crew which makes you wonder what they do at all)
@@aserta That works for some of those privacy screens as well, sometimes even just putting tape on the textured side will do the job. I'd expect it to have something to do with having roughly the same diffraction as the glass/plastic and filling in the gaps.
Moving the camera lens very close to the glass while focusing further out will blur the scratches to the point of almost invisibility. Also the scratches being in the shade will reduce their effect.
Just open emergency exit door on the wing immediately on landing to get clear view of engines :P
I travelled in a a321 Neo at the beginning of this month , I was behind the wing didn't get to see the reverser in action .so it was amazing since I hadn't travelled by plane in a long time .I began crying tears of joy when we were lining up for take off ,it was immediate take off ❤️❤️❤️ I really loved it ❤️. Great video and hope you're doing absolutely fantastic ☺️
Aw, that’s nice! Happy new year!
@@MentourPilot you too ☺️☺️
Love it! When planespotting from a distance, it's hard to realise just how far those sleeves retract. Absolutely amazing
All of your videos inspire me to fly high,to become a pilot.Have an absolutely fantastic day!
Well working mathematics, technology, physics, engineering together with powerful engines.... beautiful
Loving the annotations and descriptions, very cool! Can't wait to be able to look out of the window like that again, it's been too long...
True! It has been a long time, even for me
@@MentourPilot We'll get there, there's a bit more light at the end of the tunnel compared to even 3 months ago. I hope you're doing OK. I'm enjoying your videos 👍
If you like the annotations, High Pressure Aviation Films (UA-cam channel) does similar ones in the cockpit. There's another pilot that has his own channel with similar annotations as well. I don't recall his name.
@@MentourPilot to clarify to point at the wingtip it is called a sharklet that meant the same thing
Very nice footage mate !
Better 80s music at the end!
Do they really use reverse-thrust at idle!?
@@donaldstanfield8862 absolutely
Hi
Love the rumble sounds the engines let off when engaging the reversers
Always so beautiful landing in Barcelona!
It is!
No one going to address the butter of that landing?
It was REALLY nice!
@@MentourPilot It really was. Looks like the weather condition were very nice too.
Soooo greasy
Almost perfect. The silence was golden. Add the action of the spoilers
A very calm and stable air mass on final. Relaxing descent and touch down too... almost like being there. Thx
Can we take a moment to appreciate the smooth landing by the pilot?
Very classy Mentour! Great animations and presice information.
I live under the LEBL glideslope for 07L. It's a pleasure to see you all up there intercepting the LOC over the sea
Wow. That plane is SOO quiet on the inside! You were sitting right next to the engine and there was very little noise in the cabin.
Yeah, the new generation engines are amazing. I flew on a MAX in the US last year (in between the Ethiopian crash and the grounding 😬) and it was amazing how much quieter it is than the NG. I assume the Neo is the same or better!
The NEO Pratt and Whitney (A320) is bigger and quieter than the CFM Leap (both 737MAX and A320). I used to travel on the older models with the CFM56. Dear god. Once from India to Dubai. My ears hurt. Then I traveled the same distance (to the south of India) on a flight with the Pratt and Whitney geared turbofan engine. It was like a washing machine. Pretty silent.
In Comparison the old CFM56 sounded like a WW1 propeller plane.
@@SF-li9kh I hope it did not shake like a washing machine...
@@hugobloemers4425 I remember once flying on a Delta (ex-PanAm) L-1011 internal US flight and I swear engine #3 had a brick in it! The loudest, most bone-rattling flight I've been on by far.
The technical term for the reverser sleeves is the 'Translating cowl', the inner sleeve that holds the blocker doors is called the 'Corona', and the grids under the translating cowl that actually direct the air forward are called the 'Cascade vanes'.
O.K., One Question: This type of thrust reverser really redirect the airflow forwards or only to sides??? Thank You.
@@TRiX_ONE
Most of the air is directed forward at about a 40° angle, but each of the Cascade vane panels is slightly different.
For example the Cascade vanes that are on the underside of the engine tend to direct the air out more sideways so as not to blow debris on the runway into the engine intake.
This is great! A short video packed with information.
Please do one about the noises that passengers hear during takeoff.
Wow amazing video I absolutely love the way you told us all the landmarks!
When "El Prat" still was "El Prat". One of my favourite airports ever. Especially when you arrive from a cold country, and you leave the old terminal, and are transported to 80's summer time.
such a quite approach, what a smooth landing .
I remember the pleasant days spent in Barcelona, in June 2019. That flight was probably the most exciting in my life (talking about commercial airplanes): I had intensely followed your channel for months, my passion towards aviation had reached it's top in that period and, for the first time, I was stepping on a plane with enthusiasm and with a certain knowledge of what was going on. Moreover, once landed they let me visit the cockpit, so I could finally see in the real life what I had only seen in photos and videos during the previous months.
Nice quality footage.
You didn’t mention the spoilers deployed on landing.
Always, always an amazing video. Greetings from Brazil.
Reminds me of flying on planes for work travel again. Ahh, the good ol days of 2019.
Thanks! It took me years when I was younger to gather all that info bit by bit (mostly asking kind pilots and crew). It’s great to have so much in such a short video.
I’d love a video about minimums (DH, MDH), with Barcelona airport as an example.
We’ve all seen a thousand vids from this angle right?! Only this adds depth. Do some more maybe?!
I used to live in Barcelona and flew with Vueling all the time, this footage makes me homesick😢
Great! The nacelle strake function is one I didn't know yet. Neato!
I love the reverser noise
Thanks for the video, I loved the pop up explanations of what we were looking at on the wing and engine.
Great video, great graphics, more like this, short and sweet straight to the point.
I have been a Huey & Cobra mechanic with the US Marines for 23 years. I have a lot of flght time in helicopters. Its been said that we just "beat the air into submission" in the rotary wing.
After watching your videos, I see it's actually pretty true. It's like a boxing match compared to a ballet.
Keep up the good work, and thank you.
Absolutely fantastic. :)
I've watched many of your videos over the years, mainly just out of interest but I think I learnt more here in this 2 minute video clip than ever before. Thank you
Haha! Thank you, I just did this one for fun!
@@MentourPilot Yes, but you see how even just such a small inconsequential thing to you, can be so engaging and facinating to us mere mortals! Well Done.

Loved this video! Thanks for posting it, loved all the little pop up explanations.
So I paused this vid ohhh about 34 times👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
That landing was butter
Awesome presentation! Graphics excellent! I learned about the Nacelle Strakes, which I've been meaning to research. Thank you for an outstanding aviation channel! ✈️🛫
@Mentour Pilot: It would be great if the descriptions were little bit bigger (with larger font), as it is barely possible to read them on a smartphone screen. Anyway, great short video that explains what is going on during the landing phase of flight!
VERY smooth touchdown! 😎👌🏼
Great to see you again 💖💖🤗
Have a great year ahead... happy new year ♥️♥️..
Airbus is such a masterpiece! 👌🏻
Loved it. Watched it during the cruise phase of my MS Flight sim flight to Riga in an A320 😊
Wow I think that is most smooth landing I've ever seen
What a Butter!! 😀
Super interesting details Petter - thanks!
THAT WAS FABULOUS!!! more plz!
I liked seeing that all working together to get this plane on the ground.
Love these types of videos. All the technical knowledge is fantastic!
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
Very smooth landing!
very smooth landing.
Nice video Captain. Iam looking forward to see the CFM LEAP 1B spinning very soon !!!
Nice landing.
That was really smooth 👌, thought i was wachting a random video ,didn't realize it was on mentours channel until the end 😂
I've learned a new word: Strake. Thanks for all the interesting stuff. Here's to 2021, but hope it's not too interesting. We could all use a bit of boring right now.
I loved that!
Interesting. I like videos like this. I'm a member of Big Jet TV plane watchers channel & always amazed how 2 wings can lift all that weight.
Nice video, really helpful. And good to see airbus on your channel!!
Loved this video!
Love it!
That looks so clean!! LOVE IT
Great vid. Now I’m going to reproduce the approach in MSFS and compare the scenery to the video. 🤓
Won’t even both comparing the actual landing since this pilot literally did it so perfectly that I couldn’t tell when the touchdown occurred!
That was one of the mostiquick and informative video's I have ever seen, it taught me a lot about flaps and design configuration of so many components.
Don't worry when you see the door open, it's using the cold air not the exhaust. The combustion part of the aircraft engine is much smaller than you think, the engine uses compressor fan blades to compress and increase the efficiency of the engine. So it's compressed ducted air blown forwards to decelerate the aircraft, manual brakes are only used when you get to the stand / gate.
Absulude Funtaastik! i like his accent with this theme music....
Landing was so smooth!
You do not mention the air brake! Nice video
I know.. I should have
Cool 😎 New Graphics
Oooh, definitely more aviation footage please :-)
Legit thought this was MSFS2020 before you panned the camera down XD
Very neat, I loved all the pop-up explanations
Very nice footage! 👌
3 minutes of excellence
Great close-up, never seen this view of the reverse outlets.
Impressive image stabilization
Cool! I Miss Flying.
Thank You
what a nice is barcelona
I loved it!
Beautiful landing!
Did we land yet? This the best side of chair flying in COVID times. Thanks and keep it up
Thats a very nice video. Informative.. Thanks for the knowledge
Nice video, definitely want more of those!
Nice details. Thank you. I noticed around 1:11 the strange wave patterns in the river. I'm not familiar with Barcelona, but but it looks like a tidal estuary with the tide incoming.
Hi, I'm from Barcelona, this is actually very common in here
after say 20odd years of being an avgeek, I'm fairly confident when it comes to naming aircraft parts, avionics etc, One thing I've never known the name of is the nacelle strake! I just thought it was the pylon! A pretty cool sounding name too I think!
Lovely video mate, top job!
That Nacelle Strake definition really caught me by surprise. never thought about it. I learned something today.
Thank you captain for sharing knowledge and happy new year to you
Mentour pilot! Great work with the editing
I have to say, modern jet engines - with all the science behind aerodynamics, efficiency, reliability and weight - are marvels of precision engineering.
Think what we could achieve if we spent worldwide arms budgets on actually improving entire mankind and helping those in true need.
Fantastic video!
VERY good. Yes please, more.
Really cool! Love the atmosphere of the sunset. Really captures the beauty of arriving at a loved destination airport. Also beautiful modern thrust reversers, really smooth. :)
🤩 amazing
I'm liking that, I'm LOVING that.
YES, big Like. I want more cool technical stuff with details :)
wow that MSFS looks really nice :D
That was very nice
