Marc Martel is a Canadian Christian rock musician. Martel was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to father Michel Martel and mother Barbara Beresford Martel. He attended Briercrest College and Seminary in Saskatchewan, where he formed the band Downhere with his roommate Jason Germain and a few friends in 1999.

False, the majority of the singing was Freddie himself and the talking was Rami Malek. Martel did the, "happy birthday to me", along with a few other parts. I am a massive Queen fan as well as Mark Martel fan. Martel did *some singing in the movie, not most.
Charlie Marsh I believe it is half true. Many songs where a mix of both Freddie and mark Martel. Likely all solo vocals were solely mark. Most songs however are mainly Freddie. 🤓

Which is why Marc Isnt officially singing with Queen. As much as i love Marc, it's kinda awful to have Marc as the singer as itll seem as if Freddie was replaced. Plus I forgot who, mightve been roger but they said they weren't comfortable with Marc as the main singer cause he sounds so similar

@Troy Mowry, unfortunately not a reincarnation as Marc was born before Freddie died. And the show you're referring to was "En Direct De L'univers" (Live From The Universe). It originates in Montreal (where Marc is from, btw) and is a musical "history" of the guest's life...music and musicians who mean a great deal to the guest. She was crying due to the two acts BEFORE Marc, who sang things which were very special to Céline and her late husband. It was filmed in 2016, the same year he died, so she was still VERY much grieving his loss.

Marc is a fucking gem. To be able to emulate a legend so closely and so well with just pure talent is a legendary feat in and of itself. Again, this guy is one of the very rare cases of finding one of the best in the world at something. The fact he also has the look and feel of Freddie is just nuts level luck for fans.
As an aside, I'm 100% a cis male, but there is something about that guy that is just attractive as hell when he plays and sings at the same time. Its like his very soul is being poured out and he is giving 100% of his hard earned talent every time. He really does have a touch of legend.

Marc Martel was a part of a Christian band called DOWNHERE, he is amazing!!!!
This performance is a unicorn. Freddie never performed this as a solo piece and in concert the entire band would leave the stage and the video would come on for the operatic section and then the band would come back out for the rock section at the end ( having seen them on the Day At The Races Tour). The song itself was recorded in sections so what you are seeing is what Freddie might have done with BR had he performed it as a solo piece unplugged. It is a staggering undertaking/performance and anyone who knows anything about music (like yourself) gets that!

The best part of this video is not the critique, but the discovery. I've never seen Ken's video's before, but if indeed he wasn't familiar with Marc before, and just stumbled upon him when looking for "Bohemian Rhapsody covers", he experienced in real time what many of us discovered when we first heard Martel...."Holy sh....., there's someone like this in the world???"
There are a few moments in this where Marc literally sounds exactly like Freddie. The line "open your eyes, look up to the skies and see" is note for note and perfect tone match to Freddie. Its insane.

Marc Martel is actually the guy who did the singing for the movie "Bohemian Rhapsody" where Freddie Mercury is played by actor Rami Malek. Great movie, I highly recommend!!!

actually it's mostly Martel in the movie
A lot of what he is doing getting that sound is the mouth shapes he is able to create. He has a similar facial structure to Freddie. And also is forming his phrases around his teeth to get certain nuances. He is uniquely suited to be able to do this genetically but also, he is just amazingly talented and has clearly practiced for god knows how many hours. This is an extremely difficult song to sing well for many men. I’m a baritone/low tenor and I find this song amazingly hard. Easier for true tenors but still so hard. It’s a very impressive version of this song vocally, performance wise and his playing as well. All together, tremendous.

Marc was chosen by Roger Taylor for the Ultimate Queen Celebration. He's an amazing talent; hasn't done a thing that was not superb, IMO. His Freddie-ness is great, but he's a remarkable singer/musician in his own right, too.
They chose him for the official tribute back Queen Extravaganza but he left and started Ultimate Queen Celebration. It gets confusung
@@laartwork Ultimate Queen Celebration evolved out of a situation where QuEx had been put on extended hiatus . Musicians need to work, and Marc took other bookings during the downtime . When Queen finally decided to put QuEx back on the road they decided they now wanted to do a North American tour in direct conflict with a lot of those bookings. Negotiations failed to reach a suitable conclusion for all parties. Marc parted company from QuEx in order to fulfil his obligations but didn't rule out returning . Since then, however, UQC, which has some amazing former QuEx musicians in the band, has gone from strength to strength and particularly when Tristan and Brandon are playing, is every bit as good or better than QuEx was . Marc is better than he ever was now that he has the freedom on stage that he never had with QuEx, IMHO
@@marcfan1822 agree that Roger must have had some tight strings on what they had to sing and how he could move. I love Queen and of course Roger himself, but I do wonder if they ever watch Marc and wonder just how far he can go with their music now! He is touring the world on high demand SANS the real band members!! That in itself should say enough?
I’ve watched many many reaction videos but there are none that can compare to people who really know what they’re talking about like professional vocal coaches and who’ve heard it all before and know what it takes not just to be a good singer but a great singer and still be “WOWED” by someone like Mr Marc Martel who comes out of nowhere and floors you. I went to see him at one of his Queen tributes last year, amazing. If he does a concert near you go see him because that’s the closest you’ll ever get to seeing Freddie.
