An even better way to lock exposure is to set 1 of your remotes custom buttons to AEL (auto exposure lock). Get drone into position. Face camera at ground and hit AEL button. Then compose shot again.
Start with a nice still frame and hold for at least 10 seconds then do your smooth move and hold for another 10 or 15 seconds. When you get to the edit suite you will have more options.
Right now I work in videography, but I am also very interested in aviation. I found your channel a couple months ago and loved the aviation content, and now your getting into video and film. I think thats an awesome combo and I can't wait to see all your future content on both topics. Loving it Stef!!
Thanks for leaving that comment Nicholas, that means a lot. I'm trying to keep the content as varied and interesting as I can, so it's not all just video after video of me "in a plane". So to hear that feedback is really motivating, cheers, stef
im very new in drones and i recently buy the spark, this Tips are amazing!! Thanks for taking time and share your experiences with the newbies, greetings from Argentina!
Awesome tips! I know this video is over a year old at this point but I just picked up a used Spark from my buddy who has since upgraded and this is my first drone. I took it out to do some tests once but honestly I don’t know what I’m doing with it.
Thank you, get out and fly it more. Those tips are just starting points, honestly the more you fly it the more creative you’ll get with it. It’s a great bit of technology, enjoy!
Great tips. The best one being the point about harping about not making your drone footage look like drone footage! I love my spark and had it over a year. All great pointa.
Awesome tips, extremely beneficial without all the over complications and wordiness. One of the best videos I've seen that can be applied over all drones.
Hi Stefan, I am glad I came across your video, very nicely done. Your explanation is clear, shots are beautiful, video is nicely flowing. I loved it. I do have drone, but still in a box.. lol... next week is the first week I am going to start using it. I've been doing photography for many years and video some time now so I cannot wait to add this gear to my collection. Thank you for the tips. I do agree with all of them. I am all about slow steady nice shot without revealing that this was done with a drone. Cheers.
Hey Zdenka, it's great to have you here on the channel. Yeah get that drone out of its box and into the air! I'm sure with your photography experience you can start to get some awesome footage. Good luck and enjoy flying it, and thanks for watching, stef 👍
Great tips Stef. Drones have been very popular for quite some time but you have to be careful when and where you use them and i think you covered this in a previous video. Thanks mate.
Thanks Spiro, yes I always try and remind everyone about the safety aspects of flying a drone, but wanted to touch more on the cinematics here. Thanks as always, stef 👍
Videos about filmmaking, about how shots are used to tell the story, are also helpful. I started doing video before there were consumer drones, so I see drones as another tool, another way to get the shot, to tell the story. Even if the story is just Here's a Beautiful Thing I Saw, there's still a way to present that story so it doesn't come across as just a drone demonstration.

Another tip: turn off AWB, set acordingly to the scenery you are filming at. I have the spark, Great video!
Great simple advice. I really appreciate your simple approach to shots - much of the "tips" online tend to advertise as cinematic but remain still too difficult to manage for basic users like myself. This is solid advice in this video.
Thank you for these tips. People nowadays are too busy comparing the Spark and the Mini and telling which is which only to find out that they are note even utilizing the features of these drones. Talking about bandwagon. Anyways, Thank you so much and continue sharing awesome tips :)
Great tips Stefan...I have DJI Mavic PRO and I love it. Recently I have been in Dubai and I have been practicing flying it at Beach. The more you use it the more you learn the techniques of it. Best is quick shot of Dronie, it goes around you in circle.
I think there’s a strong chance I’ll upgrade at some point, the new Magic Pros look awesome. But the Spark has been perfect for my needs for the last year. And totally agree the more you fly the better you get. Hope you enjoyed Dubai, stef
Lovely video thanks for the tips, I think getting used to the sensitivity of the camera control wheel on the controller helps, I’ve found that you have to be so gentle with it to get shots that pan up and down. Thanks for showing me the benefits of the manual settings I’m going to try that out today
Sir, may I advice to spread your props before flying? If you can see, the Spark jerks before in went up. It had a little tension because it had to spread props first. It could give our beloved spark a longer life to live. :) THANK YOU for uploading this vid. I really love my spark, and i would like to be constantly be reminded that there are thousand things to be liked with the spark. :)
Thanks. I just got this a cpl days ago and have used my 2 batteries twice getting to know this. It's my 1st drone so I'm a real FNG but so far it's a blast and fun till it gets out there and I'm trying to see which way it's going.
Great video man! I’ve subbed! One of the things I like to do with my Spark is use the gimbal to pan down slowly when moving forward. Love doing that to focus on an object 👊🏼
We subbed you! My daughter and I are coming to Melbourne in March and are totally going to use your tips with our Spark too 😎 We are staying around Elwood and can’t wait to get beachy shots 😍
Hi, best video..i like what i see. Thanx. Do you use Edit App, or Filters? Or is this puur Spark images..Thats very good :) good day&flights and i want to see more videos of you..
Yeah always check the airspace before launching a drone Frederick. We have a good app in Australia called "can I fly there" by CASA. A simple, quick way to check you're safe (and legal) to launch.
I'm not sure if the Spark has it, but another good thing to do is to turn down the response to the controls (EXP) so the gimbal and movements aren't so jerky. Great video!
Yeah good tip brettkp1, you can definitely do that for the gimbal speed, I’ve got mine set to around 10 I think, but not sure you can tweak the actual flight control responsiveness in the same way. That could have been tip 11, or maybe tip 2.1 in the next video 😀
Simple and fun, yet very useful information. Nicely done!
Finally a person who's giving you great tips, explain them good and feels like he knows what he is talking about .loved it
Please more DJI speak videos ,I know they aren't so relevant ,but you know...I have one ,so ...sir please.🤣
Thank you for watching the video. It's good to have a
subscription. Let's share it together. I will visit often and enjoy the
video. 👍.👍.👍.
Thanks for the tips! I learned a few things on this. Looking forward to getting a drone soon.
An even better way to lock exposure is to set 1 of your remotes custom buttons to AEL (auto exposure lock). Get drone into position. Face camera at ground and hit AEL button. Then compose shot again.
Glad someone still gives great tips for the Spark 👍 Great advice! SUBBED!
Thanks PalmettoMoon, and welcome to the channel 👍
ilove dji spark drone
Agreed!
is it still worth it to get this model in 2023?
Start with a nice still frame and hold for at least 10 seconds then do your smooth move and hold for another 10 or 15 seconds.
When you get to the edit suite you will have more options.
