- A present for Dr. Amira Mahammedi
To me is the most beautiful and dreamy Nocturne that Chopin wrote
Piano: Michiel Demarey
Wiki info:
The Nocturnes, Op. 27 are two solo piano pieces composed by Frédéric Chopin. The pieces were composed in 1836 and published in 1837. Both nocturnes in this opus are dedicated to Countess d'Appony.
Some of the highly intricate ornamentation in No. 2
Blair Johnston calls the main cadence, near the end of the piece, "one of the most glorious moments in Chopin's entire output". Johnston also calls the piece "one of Chopin's most graceful essays in fioritura ornamental practices". Huneker states that the piece "really contains but one subject, and is a song of the sweet summer of two souls, for there is obviously meaning in the duality of voices." The piece contains a harmony of broken chords which is played with the left hand, a habit Chopin had when composing his nocturnes, while the right hand plays the main melody, often with the addition of a second voice. Various sections consisting of grace notes and polyrhythms add to the delicate and somewhat melancholic mood that the piece conveys.
The piece occasionally has been featured in popular culture, such as in the 1977 film The Spy Who Loved Me, the 1998 Russian film The Barber of Siberia, and the webcomic Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal.
Fragile and light like a butterfly flying from flower to flower this is how we feel when listening to your presentation...as if it was written by you and for you only...we dream of that sweet summer and we become enconed and transformed by the touch of your soul.
you truly live in your play and you make your own home in each one.
Thank you Michiel
A gift forever.....
@Erik Vertriest really forever? Apparently not
Wonderfully free and inspired!
Bedank Michiel….❤
One of the best versions of today. Intimistic, free and elegant like Chopin should be played for me.

Absolutely lovely! I am referring to the piece--and that is the greatest compliment I can pay you. You disappear, and what we are left with with is Chopin himself.
Thank you for your heart-warming words!
I am planning to record it again as I feel it again different now. This Nocturne is of such beauty, I can always play it. It is better than sexual relief.
agree, the masterpiece! Bravo!
So beautiful!!!!!
Beautiful rendition one of my favorite Chopin Masterpiece👏👏👏
Bravo!
Één van m'n lievelingsstukken van Chopin.Je blijft me verbluffen Michiel!! Groots man!!
How poetic and profoundly emotional....dreaming....
Very amazing 👍 Great 👏👏👏
Really wonderful.
Love it! Really pure and refined with real vulnerable emotion. Interesting my personal interpretation is quite different, but I really like yours too
Just played this again on my new Denon mini hi fi to test the system. The notes are crisp and I can feel the warmth of the music.
SO WONDERFUL!!!!! Thank you for my beloved Chopin and for my favourite his Nocturne in an excellent your rendition, I discovered your channel, because I've noticed your interesting comment today under the great video-such an impressive performance/concert of Mr.Timothy Chiang from Australia, my best regards from Poland to Belgium, have a happy day. Joanna
So so beautiful, makes me dream: bravo!
Chopignifique!
Absolutely wonderful..!
Yes indeed. Thank Chopin, he told me how to play it
Normally I would play it differently.
@Nick Kouls Also listen to my Liszt. Some people compare my cadenza to Ferenc but he would laugh and call me an imbecile like my father did. Liszt didn't like it but loved my interpretation of the Czardas / Friska.
Meraviglioso!
very natural playing und great feeling ! Nice piano sound !
Beautiful music!
Very cantabile and with great rhythmical feeling.
Chopin is actually my favourite composer. I like Nocturne in c# minor. I heard it in the film The Pianist. I think you possibly might be the best pianist in the piano group after all! Well the best pianist after me that is! 😏😁
I will also record thatone but first Brahms, Rachmaninoff, Schumann, Schubert
@@michieldpianoalso the Billy Joel one please
this guy is terrified of not being good enough; Yet it is one of the safest hands I know; and what's more, the heart and the emotion are there; what more...?
Pretty!
Zo fraai!
Zeker. Hoogstwaarschijnlijk Maart
Fantastisch👏👏 I liked your Videos and subscribe you with pleasure
Dankuwel
Bravo!
Thanks! I hope to become a member of your channel once my creditcard arrives.
Also check out my Liszt hr2 with improvised cadenza. Greetings from Belgium
