The fact that Chadwick Boseman was battling cancer while doing these movies is astounding. Rest In Power
The Man was a True Warrior! 😌
He was a True Hero, A True Man.
Wakanda Will Rule Forever 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I just happen to be from Chadwick’s hometown of Anderson, South Carolina. this man has done soo much for the local communities & kids down here. Wakanda Forever, My King 🤴🏿🙅🏼♂️

I like that at the end T'Challa ends up agreeing with Killmonger in the end just in a less violent way.
Which is basically what Nakia was trying to get him to do in the first place...
Yeah.. To note, Chadwck was dealing with stage 3 colon cancer during the filming of these movies. He didn't want the public to know.. So yeah, no one even suspected as he seems so strong here, so happy and charismatic. Not a hint of pain or anything seen on screen. :(
Andy Serkis (Klaue) and Martin Freeman (Ross) were both also in the Hobbit movies together. On set they made a joke about the two of them being the "Tolkien" white guys in the film.
Ross is coming back in Secret Invasion.
Rip Chadwick Boseman🕊️🥺
In the prelude comic tied to the events of this movie, it’s revealed that T’Challa had already been Black Panther since around the same time that Tony Stark became Iron Man.
T’Chaka continued to be king but had retired the mantle of Black Panther and passed it on to his son who was still the crown prince of Wakanda at the time.
T’Chaka in the Oakland 1992 flashback was portrayed by John Kani’s real life son Atandwa.
Since you’ve already seen Far From Home, I STRONGLY recommend kicking off Phase Four with Black Widow 2020 like the rest of us were all supposed to.
The director Ryan coogler said the line about being a kid from Oakland believing in fairy tales was tied to his dad telling him about the magic of Africa and the motherland compared to the streets of Oakland & Richmond he grew up in.
Additionally, Cap’s shield is made from Vibranium
(And in the comics, I believe Thor’s hammer was partially made of it as well)
You don’t say?! I didn’t knew Thors hammer was a part of this after all this time?!
@@jrevolutionblitzman133 In the comics, yes
In the MCU, no
Thor's hammer is made from Uru, a much more durable form of metal then the vibranium.
@@anouar3194 it is, yes
But I’m fairly sure Vibranium was also in the mix in the comics
@Miguel Garay I know it’s made of Uru, I said “partially”
Also, I said “I believe” I know that what I’m saying may not be a fact
I've been a fan of Black Panther since the late 1990s when one of my favorite writers revitalized him in 1998 for Marvel Comics' Marvel Knights Imprint. His name is Christopher Priest & he's the first African American writer to write Black Panther. The books have some good writing & art. The book is very funny & action-packed. I've got all four volume of the complete collections.
So outside of like.. Zemo (Civil War) and maybe if you want to consider Bucky and Loki antagonists, Killmonger for sure up there in antagonists in the MCU. Great performance by Michael B. and of course Chadwick as well
Small side note, Vibranium is also what Captain America's shield is made out of
No one ever points out that in that scene with N'Jobu and T'Chahka, he disarms him THEN kills him. He absolutely chose to do it, he had total control of that situation after disarming him. And I don't think "heat of the moment" is an excuse for someone like T'Chahka. The scene should have been choreographed better. In spite of that, movie is magnificent.
RIP Chadwick Bozeman the best and only Black Panther, King of Wakanda! WAKANDA FOREVER!!!!!
Re: Klaw's hand... remember, Ultron cut his hand off in Age of Ultron... after that, he got the upgrade you see him using here a couple of times
I have about 8 or 9 MCU films that l always say are in my top 5 it just depends on what day it is😂 but this movie is in my top 5 no matter what day it is. RIP Chadwick Boseman. Wakanda Forever 🙅🏿♂️
The role of king T'Chaka was played by real life father( the older version) and the son ( younger)
RIP Chadwick"King"!
So happy you enjoyed this particular Marvel film, great fucking reaction! Can't wait until you see "Infinity War"!
PS great film will have you at a loss for words, I call them (.01%film), this and Infinity War are absolutely two of them!!💯🌚💯😇💯💯💯💯
RIP Chadwick Boseman & Stan Lee. WAKANDA FOREVER & EXCELSIOR 😭😭😭😭.
This film was on that next level shit Like the Winter Soldier! It's one of my favorite.
T’challa “in our culture death isn’t the end… it’s more of a stepping off point”
Death is just another path, one we all must take
Ultron Chopped off his arm, that's why he has a vibratiom arm!
WE STILL LOVE YOU CHADWICK.
RIP
the fact that t'challa agreed with kilmonger in the end is great. another thing is that i feel like non-black people/africans won't connect to the theme or understand historical dilemmas that appeared in this movie
many black/ africans don't connect to the theme in this movie either.
This is inspired by the real life Black panther movement of the 1960s, who were a militant civil rights group. As was the X MEN
The Idea/concept is among the cleverest of the marvel characters also one of the most important, this film version honours the comic so well, as well as touching upon modern issues- prejudice, land rights the dangers of new technologies etc.
Brilliantly Directed & written and unique among "Super hero" films
The black panther movement was inspired by the maumau movement from 1950s Kenya. The maumau were formed from a tribe in Africa which was the inspiration for the black panther story from the comics.
Chadwick Boseman is just goated ❤
Long live the king
When he sniffs the axe, all I can think of is the prospector from the still motion Rudolph movie.
Yeah but he didn't lick it. SILVER!! I mean VIBRANIUM!!
Great reaction to Black Panther Colette.😃😍
Fun fact: in reference to the last line Tony Stark said in the first Iron Man movie, I’ve said this “The truth is…I am Black Panther.”
Lupita is a beautiful woman
1st time seeing your channel. Great reaction! 🙌🏾 ⚡️🐈⬛
Hi Colette hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤
You look lovely Colette ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hey, Colette! "Black Panther" is an important film. "Civil War" remains my favorite, "Winter Soldier" is, arguably, the best and "Guardians of the Galaxy" is cited as the most popular but the cultural and historical significance of this chapter in the saga cannot be denied. While all audiences marveled at the revelation of Wakanda, African-Americans, in particular, underwent a profoundly cathartic experience witnessing the potential of Afro-futurism dressed in the trappings of a popular entertainment that was both a Shakespearean family tragedy and a Robert Ludlum-esque espionage thriller!
While a handful of non-caricatured supporting black characters existed like Howling Commando Gabriel Jones from Marvel's World War II comic "Sgt. Fury" portrayed by Derek Luke in "The First Avenger", T'Challa aka Black Panther is the first ever black superhero! As editor, Stan Lee had encouraged the staff since 1963 to include people of color in crowd scenes to better reflect reality, but, when Jack Kirby presented him with the design of a new superhero called Coal Tiger, Lee consciously made the groundbreaking decision to greenlight the character. Inspired by the 14th-century Mali Empire Sultan Mansa Musa and controversial Pan-African activist Marcus Garvey, Lee and Kirby boldly crafted a figure who was a monarch, a scientist and a costumed adventurer. Inspired by a 1950s Australian comic book jungle hero called The Panther, the co-creators changed their character's moniker to its present form predating the Black Panther Party's use of the name by just a few months. Stan and Jack introduced T'Challa in 1966 in "Fantastic Four" 52-53 wherein Marvel's First Family was defeated by this mysterious new player proving he could match wits with elastic Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic, Marvel's greatest intellect, and equal the strength of rocky Ben Grimm aka The Thing, one of Marvel's powerhouses! T'Challa is undone when the four coordinate against him but then he explains that he lured them to Wakanda to test his mettle against the best in the world so he could know he was truly prepared to avenge his father's death by confronting his nemesis, Ulysses Klaw. In the comics, Klaw killed T'Chaka while stealing vibranium and young T'Challa robbed Klaw of his arm but, in the MCU, Klaue's arm was taken by Ultron in "Age of Ultron" and T'Chaka was killed by Zemo in "Civil War". Misunderstanding resolved, the heroes help each other. The Panther comes to the US afterwards, guest stars in a four-issue run of "Captain America" and is recruited by Cap to join the ranks of "The Avengers" in 1968 for 72 issues during which M'Baku, The Man-Ape, debuted in 1969. In "Jungle Action", written by Don McGregor and illustrated by Gil Kane, the Panther returns to Wakanda to contend with a claim to his throne by N'Jadaka aka Erik Killmonger! This epic run from 1973 - '76 remains a critically acclaimed saga titled 'Panther's Rage' and serves as the basis for the movie. The next storied run of Panther tales were written by Christopher Priest and illustrated by Mark Texeira in 1998 for 62 dark and gritty issues which introduced the Dora Milaje and State Department attorney Everett Ross who is re-framed as a CIA agent in the MCU. The Panther's all-female bodyguard have their historical basis in the warrior women of the 17th-century Kingdom of Dahomey now known as the Republic of Benin in West Africa. The subsequent run of Panther comics in 2005 written by filmmaker Reginald Hudlin and illustrated by John Romita, Jr. introduced Shuri who eventually assumes the title of Panther herself. It was during this period that T'Challa wed Ororo Munroe aka Storm of the X-Men, one of Marvel's most celebrated unions!
Director Ryan Coogler, known for the searing "Fruitvale Station" and the thrilling stealth-"Rocky" sequel, "Creed", was picked to helm the production. The end result was exotic, emotional and exciting! One week after "Civil War", we follow the young prince as he assumes the mantle of kingship by undergoing ritual combat, pursues justice against an enemy of the state and contends with a fateful usurpation of his throne. The film globetrots from Los Angeles to London to Busan but the principal setting is fictitious Wakanda, a wondrous civilization of flying air ships and bleeding edge technology hidden from the world by a cloaking field. A massive vibranium meteorite is the source of their high-tech wizardry but what makes Wakanda a Shangri-La of sorts is that the natural world has been woven into the fabric of society rather than sacrificed on the altar of progress as exhibited by the architecture of the capital, Birnin Zana, whose skyscrapers are accented with rustic design elements such as thatched rondavels and wooden posts studding the facades. There is also a spirituality to the culture such as communion with former Panthers in a savannah-like astral plane achieved via a psychotropic herb.
The large cast is comprised mostly of actors of African heritage including some major names continuing the pattern of attracting top talent to Marvel productions. Already introduced in "Civil War", Chadwick Boseman returns as T'Challa aka Black Panther bringing the same compassion, thoughtfulness and dignity to his new role as monarch of Wakanda replacing his late father, King T'Chaka, played by John Kani, who was killed in the same movie but returns as a spirit in this one for some emotionally wrenching interaction with his son. T'Challa's living family includes Angela Bassett as stern but proud Queen Mother Ramonda and Letitia Wright as playful but brilliant Princess Shuri, a scientist who heads a Q-like division that outfits the Panther with state-of-the-art tech. Known as the deadly Michonne from "The Walking Dead", Danai Gurira gives a commanding performance as the fierce Okoye, head of the Dora Milaje. The reliably excellent Forest Whitaker plays Zuri, head priest and shamanic counselor who harbors a shameful Royal secret. The ravishing Lupita Nyong'o plays Nakia, childhood sweetheart to T'Challa and a covert agent of Wakanda quietly intervening against the ravages of tribalism and colonialism in Africa. Winston Duke plays M'Baku aka The Man-Ape in a charismatic performance as Jabari Tribe chieftain and challenger to the throne. Daniel Kaluuya of "Get Out" plays W'Kabi, Border Tribe commander, rhino wrangler, Okoye's beau and T'Challa's childhood friend who has an axe to grind against Ulysses Klaue, the South African mercenary and vibranium thief introduced in "Age of Ultron". Played again by Andy Serkis, the unsavory lout returns with a powerful sonic cannon appendage in lieu of the arm Ultron severed! Michael B. Jordan plays antagonist N'Jadaka aka Erik 'Killmonger' Stevens in a tour de force of righteous indignation and bitter rage. Cousin to T'Challa and forgotten son of Wakanda, he forces the new king to confront the sins of his father and the moral failure of his nation with a blistering final declaration that remains the MCU's most impactful. Sterling K. Brown of TV's "This Is Us" plays N'Jobu, T'Chaka's brother, whose opposition to Wakandan isolationism nearly sows the seeds of his homeland's undoing. Better known as Bilbo Baggins of "The Hobbit" films and Dr. Watson of the modern-dress "Sherlock", Martin Freeman returns from "Civil War" as CIA Agent Everett Ross along with Florence Kasumba as the Dora Milaje Ayo who challenged Black Widow. Two character actors play tribal elders: Isaach de Bankole is the River Tribe chieftain with the lip plate and Danny Sapani of TV's "Halo" is the Border Tribe chieftain. In bit parts, Nabiyah Be plays Killmonger's ruthless lover, the doomed Linda, Alexis Rhee plays the casino's sly frontwoman, Sophia, and Atandwa Kani, John Kani's actual son, plays the young T'Chaka. Sebastian Stan has a surprise cameo as James Buchanan 'Bucky' Barnes aka The Winter Soldier. Comedian Trevor Noah, "The Daily Show" host, voices Griot, the remote pilot operating system named after the African term for an oral storyteller.
TRIVIA:
1. Instead of rhinos, massive Clydesdale horses were used on set to interact with the performers as their surprisingly similar gaits made their digital replacement easier!
2. Ludwig Goransson's score was the first superhero film score to be nominated for an Academy Award since John Williams' score for "Superman" in 1978!
3. Martin Freeman and Andy Serkis both starred in "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" together so the crew took to jokingly calling them 'the Tolkien white guys'. Lol.
4. The scenes in Oakland, CA were actually filmed in Atlanta, GA near Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s burial site. His daughter visited the set to bless the project.
EASTER EGGS:
1. The nanite Panther suit is an innovation from Ta-Nehisi Coates' more recent 2010s run.
2. The horned mask Killmonger steals from the museum is a reference to a similar mask he wore in a duel with T'Challa during Reginald Hudlin's early 2000s comic run.
3. The 'White Wolf' moniker used for Bucky is a reference to a white character named Hunter from Christopher Priest's late 1990s comic run who was adopted by King T'Chaka as a child later to become the head of Wakanda's secret police known as the Hatut Zeraze!
CAMEO:
1. Stan Lee appears as a slick gambler in the underground Busan casino who scoops up the chips T'Challa leaves behind for 'safe-keeping'.
END-CREDIT SCENES:
1. After delivering an inspirational speech at the UN about illusory divisions and shared commonalities, T'Challa states Wakanda's intent to share its resources with the world.
2. Bucky Barnes is awoken by children and emerges from a thatched hut by a lake to be met by Shuri who asks about his health and informs him he has much to learn.
The next chronological stop in the MCU is "Spider-Man: Homecoming" set two months after "Civil War" followed by the "Agents of SHIELD: Slingshot" web series.

Fun fact the panther is actually a leopard and the story is based on a real tribe along the equator in Africa
Sadly Boseman is gone RIP😢
M'Baku is great. His tribe rejected the panther and instead worshipped the gorilla, making them outcasts from the rest of their country. However he does still possess the right of challenge and is allowed to live when T'Challa gives him the chance, earning his respect. He then willingly gives up the herb and allows T'Challa to regain his powers out of honor, then steps up to aid him when he needs him. In return his tribe is allowed to re-integrate into society and he is given a position on Wakanda's council.

I love Any Serkis as Ulysses Klaue. Shame Marvel always kills off their villains...Klaw, Crossbones, Batroc, MODOK, Ronan, Hela, Iron Monger, Malekith, Kurse, Aldrich Killian, Whiplash, Robot Zola, Ultron, Killmonger, Mysterio, Gorr...its absolutely ridiculous...and its honestly really stupid.
Wolverine’s claws were made from vibranium. They were just called Adamantium in X-Men’s universe
Adamantium and Vibranium are not the same thing. Adamantium was created in an attempt to artificially recreate Vibranium. It doesn't have the same properties. Technically it is harder to break but does not have all the other super qualities that Vibranium has.
@@bryce253 I stand corrected
It’s a great superhero movie for sure, but in my opinion, definitely not the best, and a bit overhyped. Not to say it isn’t great, I just think there are some superhero movies that are a bit better. Great reaction as always :)
Yeah, I tried real hard to see why people loved this so much, but two theater viewings six months apart (they rereleased the movie in my country a few months later) and in both viewings I felt like it was an average movie. Perhaps me not being American, African, or black means I couldn't like it just beacuse of the representation, but yeah, the actual film wasn't worth the hype. I mean, even all the praise they give to Jordan was overblown, mainly because he just acted like he always does and so it felt like he was playing himself. Unlike Boseman, who became a little different based solely on the fact that he changed his accent for the movie (and he was amazing as Black Panther in general, accent or not, right from Captain America Civil War).
@@AbhijeetMishra most of these movies are overblown and overhyped
@@craigime Yeah, but in the case of Black Panther the hype went a bit too much over the top and the unbridled praise for what was, as a movie, not really that great made things more noticeable.
@@AbhijeetMishra like i said, most of these movies are overhyped and overblown. along with black panther, other good examples are Endgame and No Way Home... both of these weren't that great and yet they were praised to high heaven. and like you said, it made things more noticeable
@@craigime Endame for sure was not great, it's like they poured all the hard work into Infinity War. Endgame was mostly talk and then a very short final battle. Still, Endgame was the culmination so I did enjoy it. No Way Home was entertaining as well, even if nothing special. Black Panther is the worst example of the lot, though, little action, not too jokey in the standard Marvel way but also not entertaining.
😍🖐️😘🥰😍
Love Chadwick boseman, hot take but this movie was weak compared to the others from marvel in that time.
Weak?? This is not considered weak. The 7 nominations and 3 wins at the academy awards? Hmm….
@@ColetteCherry it's just my take and opinion. Could have worded it more clearly.
Maybe I'm just edgy, especially because i think the Oscars are a joke and not to be taken seriously especially in terms of movie quality.
@@ColetteCherry periodd
The thumbnail would be perfect for blacked
Ive never known a blonde person to make a poignant connection with a film dealing with the life style of other cultures and a threat to it (and it does you proud)
i would add that the Vibraniam is NEVER at the centre of the story, it's nothing more than a tool and power source for this fictional Country
this is one of those films that for obvious reasons, defied the odds of succeeding (apparently making 1 billion world wide) there is no doubt that the timing of its release together with it being a...kind of Super Hero film contributed to it's success, although it's evident that this is a very expensive film
