How can you run Anti-Virus software on an External Hard Drive for PS4 ? When you said in your video that it won't even recognize it on PC? So therefore its impossible to run Anti-Virus on a Ghost device that won't even show up on your PC .
Hi there, thank you for your question! To run antivirus software on an external hard drive for a PS4, you can connect the drive to your PC using a compatible cable, open your preferred antivirus software, initiate a scan selecting the external hard drive as the target, follow the software's instructions to handle any threats detected, and safely remove the hard drive once the scan is complete. Ensure that the antivirus software is compatible with the file system format of the external hard drive, such as exFAT or FAT32. Remember to check the documentation or support resources for your antivirus software for specific guidance.
@@RecoveritDataRecoverySoftware But to run anti-virus the drive has to show up on PC. PS4 format doesn't show up at all. What antivirus software are you using that allows you your PC and only your PC to scan the drive. When I was downstairs in my house for 4 hours watching your video. exFat or FAT32 format not PS4 format which is what happens when you connect a PC external hard drive and convert it to PS4 format therefore it will not read on PC at all or show up. The only way it showed up was via the flashdrive symbol for eject on the toolbar on PC

It was still lighting up but the next day i got a new wire and a few minutes later the light stopped turning on too. It still gets recognized on my Laptop but the light doesn't turn on. Can anyone please help
Hi there, thank you for your question! You can try power cycling by disconnecting the power cable for 10 minutes and then reconnecting it. Check the HDMI connection to ensure it is secure and consider using a different cable or port. You can also try rebuilding the database or resetting the video output settings by accessing Safe Mode. If none of these steps work, you may need to initialize the PS4, but be aware that this will erase all data.
Good information very imforative😮but I don't have PC to do some of the testing. Does plugging and incorrectly plugging the game station actually corrupt files?
What if I dropped it, then when I try to use it again it does not connect? ( I dropped mine, and it makes a ticking noise every time it’s plugged up. )
Hi there, thank you for your question! The ticking noise is often an indicator of damage to the read/write head or platters inside the drive. In this case, it's best to stop using the drive immediately, as continued use could cause further damage and data loss. You may want to consider taking the drive to a professional data recovery service to see if they can retrieve any data from it.
All I did was connected to another USB the one in the front and it recognized it. I guess I have a bad USB port in the back but it works for now. Thanks.
I have 200GB of free space on my extended storage for my PS4. However, whenever I try to update or download a game that's around 20-30GB, I encounter an error stating that there isn't enough space available. Can someone please help me!?
Hi there, thank you for your question! Try power cycle your PS4 by turning off your ps4 then unplugging it for about 3 minutes then try turning it back on and try again. Then I would recommend checking the extended drive to see if its being used by the ps4 and make sure its in the correct format to ensure compatibility.
Are you sure this happened while rebuilding the database and not the Initializing step? I’ve rebuilt mine several times already on my 1st Gen to clean up the PS4 and I’ve never run into this issue. It shouldn’t delete anything, it just kind of declutters all the data. Organizes it. The most it should do is mess up your home screen and take all or most your games off there. But if you look in your library, all your games should be there.
Turn off the PS4 with device connected then turn it back on at first it didn't show up for me but after turning it off and on with the hard drive connected it worked hope this helps someone

My Seagate 1tb had to be repaired after my dogs unplugged my PS4. That was over a month ago. I've been using it everyday and last night, my son downloaded Infinite Warfare and I got the error message, and now it won't let me use it. It will let me format it as extended storage, but a second or two later it gets the error message and won't recognize it. Same thing happened to the last on I had, except from a power outage because someone hit a pole. So frustrating.
I know the feeling. I came home from work last night and I have a somewhat faulty plug that my Playstation is plugged into so my power went out for a few minutes. Came back on and my freaking external hard drive won't connect anymore. I was literally just playing games a day before this happened. So frustrating. I'm still messing around with it but to no avail so far. 😩
@@moncreebrown948 yeah I tried rebuilding the database on the PS4, and I'm still getting the error message that it can't read the external hard drive. Oh well. I'm looking for one that has shutoff protection now, if that's even a thing.

Got this problem where the console still recognises that the external is what it is, but can't complete the repair process. My eventual solution: unplug the external, then boot the PS4 without it. Then, shut it down. Plug the external back in before booting the PS4 again, and this time, it should complete the repair process, and have everything running again. Happened twice now, and fixed the same way both times.
I have a WD game drive that has been in use for a year or so now working flawlessly. My son unplugged the PS4 the other day to move it into another room and now the WD game drive is unrecognizable on pc and on the PS4. Assuming he didnt shut it down correctly as a 10 yr old, the hard drive is now looking to be a paper weight. Can anything be done? I did try to rebuild the database on the PS4 and have tried different ports, but being the HD is not working on PC either i'm going with this is a HD issue.
You gotta reformat it. He didnt break it. I do that also sometimes. Mine wont let me format it on a ps4 though. I am being forced to do it from pc. My ps4 wont read it. And when it does read it, doesnt give reformat option. This is such aids.
This video is totally useless. You even show Wondershare Recoverit which doesn't help fix anything since you can only potentially restore files with it, and PS4 files are a mess, hundreds of folders with strange names. It on is only useful with FAT, exFAX and NTFS formats, not with PS4 proprietary format. Rebuilding the database doesn't fix anything. The truth is that PS4 and PS5 are just trash in managing external hard drives, the PS4 even makes disappear hundreds of Gigabytes for no reason after a stupid game update, 120Gb in my case. The PS5 stops downloading games randomly and/or doesn't read games from external hard drives. These solutions are only useful for noobs like the one saying that it had an out of date firmware version.
@@peachesncream1453 Change the USB port, buy a new USB cable or erase everything trough a PC by formatting the hard disk in exFAT format then connect it again to the PlayStation. Format it again in its proprietary format then reinstall/redownload everything. This UA-camr doesn't even know that the PC cannot read the proprietary format that the PlayStation set on the hard disk. Don't waste time in doing useless things. That PC software doesn't even work, it crashes after opening it every single time. Wondershare makes only bugged software

I’ve rebuilt the database many times, deleted and reinstalled the games and have even swapped ports. I’m curious if anyone has encountered this issue and if there’s any solution to it?
Hi there, thank you for your question! It's possible that the hard drive is starting to fail due to physical damage, wear and tear, or a malfunctioning component. Unfortunately, it seems like you will need to purchase a new hard drive we recommend trying to backup any important data and replace the external hard drive with a high-quality one from a reputable brand.
Really weird , mine just stopped working and it works fine on my daughters ps4. I rebuild the database and it worked. Woke up this morning after I shut it down last night and now it won't work again. I'm guessing my ps4 is just a pos and going. But very disappointing cause the hard drive works fine when I plug it in another ps4. But for some reason it will keep beeping and saying it can't connect after I shut it down for the night. Strange considering I did the rebuild data base and it worked.
My HD suddenly stopped working too. How do I back up my PS4 before initialising without an external hard drive????
my electricity went out so when i turned my ps4 on it said the extended storage was not disconnected properly. now every time i try to open a game it won’t respond when i click X to start the game
when I initialise ps4 it says I can't because I don't have a USB storage device that contains an update file for reinstllation for version 8.52 or later
So I have the hornetteck viper 3.0. I was sitting in my chair playing warzone and we know how that game gets, anyway when I was going to sit forward from having my leg on the other. So ever since my playstation reads that it's not connected when it's plugged in. I contacted hornettek and they are ignoring me. Pls help. I have all of my 100 games on there
External was origianlly for PS4 then started using it for PS5, now that I put in back on the PS4, it showed up for a few seconds and then went away and now wont show at all. Plugged it back in PS5 and it works. Maybe all this switching back and forth is making it not work right.

Idk about you guys... but for me it kept on saying to repair the hard drive then it would load 25 percent of the way and then just get another error telling me to format the external hard drive. So then I uploaded all of my games to the online storage and the formatted it. I then had to delete my games off of the ps4 Home Screen and redownload them. When I tried to redownload it, it didn’t give me an repair pop up, but the game told me that it was corrupted and that I had to delete the game and reinstalled it... so that’s where I’m at right now...
Ok so reinstalling to the external hard drive doesn’t work because it will load the game but then say it’s corrupted and that you have to delete it and redownload it... I did that and same result so then I deleted it again and downloaded on to the ps4 storage and now I can play the game and it saved all my stuff
Also I just found out the hard way that you need to Click on the application to make sure it says to delete and redownload it first... if you don’t you will loose the game completely

@@Sirc6400 okay thank you so much! I've been trying to do some research myself online but I've come across so many comments and reviews of people saying Seagate is horrible and gets damaged within weeks of purchase, and other drives aren't reliable as well. that honestly freaked me out.
I updated my system software on my p4 and when it finished it wasn’t reading my hard drive I’m going to try this n see if it works 😢if not I’m giving up gaming forever
So my external hard drive stopped working for some reason my PS4 won't read it but I plugged it back up it's working but the light is not on I feel the modem running but my PS4 won't recognize it and I did rebuild the database can somebody help please
Everything was working fine but then suddenly my ps4 got stuck, turned off and started itself. Since then its not working.

Thay was very helpful. Like how you explained it and made it understandable.
Good information very imforative😮but I don't have PC to do some of the testing. Does plugging and incorrectly plugging the game station actually corrupt files?
Hi there, thank you for your question! Yes it can potentially corrupt files and cause data loss.
I accidentally formatted my ps4 external and am recovering it right now but when it’s done how will I put the files back into the hard drive?
What if I dropped it, then when I try to use it again it does not connect? ( I dropped mine, and it makes a ticking noise every time it’s plugged up. )
Hi there, thank you for your question! The ticking noise is often an indicator of damage to the read/write head or platters inside the drive. In this case, it's best to stop using the drive immediately, as continued use could cause further damage and data loss. You may want to consider taking the drive to a professional data recovery service to see if they can retrieve any data from it.
So I got a question is the hard drive interface connector supposed to be loose and be able to wiggle up and down on a standerd 1215A ps4?
THANK YOU!!!!!! Not all heroes wear capes
All I did was connected to another USB the one in the front and it recognized it. I guess I have a bad USB port in the back but it works for now. Thanks.
It’s plugged to into 2 different computers and it’s recognised by both but I’ve plugged it into two different PlayStations and it’s not read by either
How do I fix it
I have 200GB of free space on my extended storage for my PS4.
Thank you man just subbed

I have the same problem
@@owenhill6564 my whole ps4 lost everything including clips from years ago. Do not recommend rebuilding database at all!!
did u end up fixing it because im in the same boat rn
Are you sure this happened while rebuilding the database and not the Initializing step? I’ve rebuilt mine several times already on my 1st Gen to clean up the PS4 and I’ve never run into this issue. It shouldn’t delete anything, it just kind of declutters all the data. Organizes it. The most it should do is mess up your home screen and take all or most your games off there. But if you look in your library, all your games should be there.
Did it just delete the games?
My rebuilding data base took 5 min no where near a hour
So I screwed up and had my hard drive connected to the ps4 while I rebuilt the data base and lost all of my corrupted games
Holy shit i was just about to do the same thank you so much!!!!!!!! You saved me!!!!!
Yea but if I redownload them I still have all my data so
There was an option somewhere in the settings to restore licences and u can get digital games back.

@@willheines4 I read that it could just be the cable, the port, all sorts of things. I have 129 games on my hard drive and this freaking sucks. I had a high level character in Elden Ring that I was using. For the moment, I'm gonna delete it and re-download it to my internal hard drive.
Goddamn it I don’t have a fucking pc
Did you end up fixing it ? If so what did you do I having the same problem on mine ? Ahah
Did yall ever find a solution, me asking from the future.
What would you recommend? Mine stopped working last night and im not tech savy
@@Riga89 thanks for the advice. I've experimented with different ways to see if the usb is messed up. I think the data was corrupted since I cannot format it in either exFAT or the normal way. I think the best thing to do is erase everything from a PC. Thanks
