    HI Pete, not spoken for a while. Still follow your stuff being the Yorkie that I am. I have just bought this exact same air fryer. You can actually fit a 1.5kg chicken in there if you tie up the thighs and wings which you didn't do. Do you have the recipe for your rub somewhere. Would like to try it. All the Yanks for rotisserie chicken use Lawry's I love this chicken.
    Hows your bro'. Last time I saw him on your vids your were outside doing Alfresco. (who is Al Fresco)
    Keep safe with all this Covid about.(more than 5.5 million now)

      @@johnmarshall6975 Better than that, here's two recipes: 1. Garlic & Herb All Purpose
      Seasoning
      50% salt and equal measures of garlic granules, savoury,
      oregano, sage and black pepper.
      I grind the herbs up with a little salt to make it quite fine,
      like Ariosto.
      The savoury and sage are prominent, along with the garlic.
      Great with chicken, pork, sausages and turkey.
      You could make it less salty, maybe 1/3 salt 2/3 the rest.
      It’s good as a dry table seasoning too. Great for chicken, turkey and pork! 2. BBQ Rub:
      2 Tbsp Salt
      1 Tbsp Thyme
      2 Tbsp Garlic Granules
      2 Tbsp Onion Powder
      2 Tbsp Black Pepper
      6 Tbsp Paprika
      2 Tbsp Smoked Paprika
      1 Tspn Cayenne Pepper Enjoy!

    Looking to buy this fryer and thank you for the great video. There are a lot of reviews out there but none that mention noise and smell. Do you find it noisy when using and would you need to place it under an extractor as I imagine it releases a lot of steam and or smoke? To date, I've been using a small Tower basket style fryer and, while fairly quiet to use, it can produce a lot of cooking smells. Again, great and practical video. Have subscribed! Thanks :)

    • @LazyCookPete
      @LazyCookPete  Рік тому

      I use it in my tiny kitchen but I don't find the noise or smell to be an issue, and I use it every day at least once. I get some grease drip from the front but overall it is much less of a bother than my previous basket air fryer. I bought it myself and I am not getting paid by Tower, at least not yet 😉 The rotisserie is a great feature and the shelves are very useful. You can remove the door easily for cleaning. The shelves and the drip tray fit in the dishwasher. Thanks for the sub and welcome to the fold.

      Yes and yes. There is a comprehensive manual. All the trays fit easily into a dishwasher, the door can be removed for cleaning, and the inside is easily accessible for cleaning. I still use it every day, I wouldn't want to be without it.

      Good question Jan. After I removed the chicken I let it stand for 12 minutes before carving, which was enough time to cook the chips at 200C. It's not possible with this model to install a cooking shelf while the rotisserie spit is installed. Nevertheless I use this oven nearly every day and I wouldn't want to be without it.

    I’m torn if to go for the 5 in one which is currently out of stock or if paying £60 more is worth it for the 10 in 1 which I currently can get hold of, or if to just hold out a bit longer for the cheaper one to come back in. Didn’t know if the price was right for the extra gadgets?

      I would bake a standard size chicken breast half for about 40 minutes at 180C/350F, but not too much longer otherwise it would dry out. If I was braising it in gravy or sauce, I would extend the time to 60 minutes. I hope this helps.

    Followed your instructions to the tee,but mine came out so dry. What weight of chicken was yours

    • @LazyCookPete
      @LazyCookPete  2 роки тому +1

      I use a small chicken or a joint no bigger than 1.2kg according to the instruction manual, and cook it on the recommended settings. I have never had one dry out on me. It baffles me how your chicken dried out, it doesn't make sense to me. You would have to cook it for way too long at too low a temperature to dry it out. A larger bird would not turn on the spit, but it would also not likely dry out either because of its size. The rules of physics apply.

    • @LazyCookPete

      1.6kg is 200g larger than recommended, but as long as it is trussed up alright it should turn. I think it should be fine at 50 minutes but do a temperature check in the thick part of the breast or thigh and make sure it's at least 74C/165F before serving.

      Good point. At 200C/400F for 10-15 minutes, most oven chips will cook during the standing time for the roasted chicken. It's always better to allow a roasted bird or joint to stand for 10-15 minutes.

      Yeah that sounds great to me. I roast big chickens breast side down unless I specifically want to present it as a whole roast bird. In which case I roast it covered for 1 hour and then uncovered for the rest of the calculated cooking time. Breast down is best of course, because the bird bastes itself that way 😋

    • @LazyCookPete
      @LazyCookPete  2 роки тому

      The machine alternately shows the time remaining and the temperature as it runs. As for the chicken stopping rotating, it sounds like the bird is too big for the spit. The recommended size is 1.4kg, but you can fit a 1.5kg as long as it is well-trussed to the spit. Beyond this advice you may have to check the warranty for a repair.
