Yep. I have a 2022 custom 4x4, and every single time I take it through a car wash, I hear that loud popping sound. I know exactly what you’re talking about.
Hello all. I have the same truck as well. Bought new and used for personal use, mostly light duty jobs. If you are considering the 2.7 but worry it's not powerful enough, stop worrying and buy the truck. This is a great engine and there are plenty of videos describing the engine. I too have the clanking noise from the rear end. This was determined to be the rear springs and was fixed under warrantee at 1500 miles (!) only to return at 2000 miles! There is an issue with these springs. At the moment I am living with it until Chevy can fix it once and for all. I also experience engine vibration on cold start but it quickly settles down. Mileage is great compared to a V8. Currently have 3500 miles and love the truck.
I have a 2017 GMC Sierra with 86k miles on it and I have severe leaf spring slap. As soon as I hook up a trailer and put a 800 lb ATV on it the clunks go away. Empty ….truck clunks

The 1 weird thing I get is when the truck is ice cold, not run for several hours and the temp is 50 or lower. The 1st step on the gas causes the truck to stumble, just die. Lasts less than 5 seconds but literally drops on it's face. Dealer couldn't duplicate it. I love the truck overall but I am not seeing the mileage others talk about either.
2020 silverado custom 4x4 5.3 13000 miles no noises or anything. Rides rougher than my 2011 lt did . Iv had 5.3 forever, never had any problems out of them . 2014 to 2020 they did have a few issues with 5.3 that had DFM and start stop . Mine has neither of those functions. My 2011 had fuel management that I disabled at around 30000. I never had any problems just didn't like the way it felt going from 4 cylinders to 8 .

@@PC2Channel thanks for the reply and sounds like you get around. I’m actually on Long Island, NY. I found my truck in Massachusetts. The sticker on mine was $42,300.00, then dealer discount was 4,200.00, got another $2,500 of incentives I qualified for and $1,800 trade value on Colorado. Walked out the door at $33,800! I appreciate sharing and I get it. Well I leased my 1st truck 2020 GMC Elevation 2.7L two wheel drive; being my first truck and this being a new engine. I wasn't buying. Now my experince has been excellent. "My Truck is on your same platform and engine" I think GMC adds more to their suspension or sound dampening? I have a very quiet cabin. And thankfully no pop in the suspension. I tow a travel trailer, now over 10, 000 miles of towing. Payload is 4,654Lbs.(thats people, gear and trailer) Will say truck has been a Champ. I have 14 mths left. Not sure where I'm going next; I'm not loyal to any maker. Next Truck I would like to be a Purchase $$ Ouch! I have my target set on the F150 Hybrid 4x4 due to RVing and truck having a major power plant for boondocking. But the Sierra or Silaverardo Duramax 4x4 is another option. Or i may come back to the new GMC Elevation 4x4 2.7L which now comes with 410 HP of boost and stiffer block and higher towing load of 9000 lbs.
Great info. Thank you. My cabin is very quiet also. I love my truck. My 06' F150 is currently getting a motor swap before I put it up for sale. I have owned 3 Toyota trucks and they never let me down, but wanted a new full size for a certain price. The Custom hit the marks. Best of luck on your decision. Love to hear more in the future. 2021 custom with 26k. Have a couple of rattles when the road gets abnormally rough but other than that runs like new. 50/50 split between interstate and city driving mixed with some rough gravel roads. Not a Denali but not disappointed by any means. My roof indents when going through blower/dryer in car washes also….thin metal I guess.
Yep. Same here. I love the truck. Mine rides pretty much the same. Pretty smooth 95% of the time on any surface. Comfortable and did amazing in terrible conditions. Congrats on the ride. Stay safe out there my friend.
I got the same truck 2x4 w/2.7l. I got just over 2k and I hear the pops and creeks when it’s cold. Also I’m experiencing the 1st to 2nd gear shutter. Mines a crew cab.
I had 2020 AT4 sierra with a 6.2 at 5,000km the struts had to be warrantied, rattled and popped like crazy. then at 7000km I was getting a pop/creak backing up...was told it was normal. I would probably still have it, if it wasn't for the shortage of trucks and dealer buying it back for more.
I feel your pain ; I have 345 miles on my new Silverado 2022, and the ass end is making all kinds of noises. Feels like they’re rear end is gonna fall out. Have to get it back to the dealership, wish I would’ve kept my old truck 2019 trail boss. 🇺🇸
Dodge is the nicer option in my opinion. But The 1500 Custom is the lowest price. I still love mine. Nearly 20k on it now. Good luck in which ever you choose. Let me know when you get a new ride.
The problem is... if people keep paying more money for lower quality , the car companies are going to keep doing it ..that raises the profit margin . It seems people have been desensitized overtime . The material does not justify the prices ...its just not there ! Stop paying these prices and i bet the prices start coming down . They are testing the threshold when people will say enough is enough
I ended up getting a new 2021 Tundra last may so take been a year and 18k miles later. Truck has been solid ! No complains other than a small dash rattle that can be annoying

@@davidmckibbin4440 I certainly can't say that I don't have my worries. Especially with the 5.3 issues and so on. You may see me having a complete meltdown some day. LOL
I haven't yet, but know several who do and say they have had no issues. I spoke to a guy the other day who went to WV to pick up a car with a tandem axle trailer and said he didn't have any issue at all.

Congratulations! I wish I had noticed the 4low missing. I started to get a Trail Boss. One way to increase fuel economy is to be off the gas down hill. But if you travel more city. Not a lot to do to help. That said. They are peppy and it's hard to not let em do their thing. Lol Enjoy my friend.
I just hit 10k miles on my 2021 2.7L Silverado, so far I haven't had a single problem with it. I do think the lights in it suck, and I'd like a few safety features added but I have the custom trim level so it's not going to have any bells and whistles. Overall I love the truck and I have positive equity which is tough to come by in this market.
I'm with you. Same here. Wyatt mentioned that it seemed like the lights were a bit brighter than when we first bought it. I thought so to but it could just be that we are getting used to it. But yeah.. The interior lights suck.

Didn't realize gm even built vehicles without 4low. Definitely a necessity when you're above 13k feet in the mountains and have 1/4 the horsepower. On the flip side though, the turbo is really going to help with that though, maybe the reason they didn't include 4 low?
The roof on my old 04 did the pop thing also when going thru the wash or severe head wind If 4 lo is needed the custom trail boss has 4 lo even with the 2.7 for those that are thinking about buying one

With all of the people having lifter failures, bent pushrods...and other issues with their 5.3 trucks, I'm not sure I'd consider anything beyond the 2.7 ' Top Shelf' at this point. Class action lawsuit in progress and will be interesting to see how it all pans out. Edit to add: The 6.2 is having the same issues as well.

@@PC2Channel I agree and it seems that GM is finding a new stride. (Look at what they did with the C8) They'll get the problems ironed out and to play devil's advocate, it's not uncommon to have SOME issues with any newly developed platform. Make the 2.7 even stronger and bump its power a bit' more....I think that would be a great combination of engines for these trucks and hopefully, they will but the 2.7t in the Colorado and Canyon as well.
Yep, Sounds like mine for sure. No issues through summer though. I'm loving my truck. Almost at 25,000
I have a 2017 GMC Sierra with 86k miles on it and I have severe leaf spring slap. As soon as I hook up a trailer and put a 800 lb ATV on it the clunks go away. Empty ….truck clunks

Awesome. Congrats on the new ride.
My 2022 LTD 1500 double cab 4x4 has just under 4K on it. Runs great. No issues really. Just get this weird clicking noise under steering wheel when killing the engine sometimes. Other then that I love it.
Congrats on the new ride. These new trucks take getting used to. My Son loves hearing the shutdown sequences. Says it sounds like a transformer. Lol
Starting to think I was the only one lol. This has been a great truck
Over 20,000 on my 21 model. None of the creeks and pops. Dang fine truck.
About to hit 25k on mine. Video coming

Congrats on the ride! Hope it last you forever
I have 1600 miles on my 21 custom with 2.7 and i feel you man. When i first start driving i can hear some creaks, love the truck but makes sense that it will need more maintenance since its a cheaper truck. Good learning experience, thanks man!
Congratulations on the new ride. Yeah, It does allow someone to buy an affordable model and upgrade bits as you go. I really feel these where aimed at Suburban and City folks as a whole. Somewhere between Big SUV and Small car. Idk. Either way, enjoy my friend.

I have a 2020 custom 2.7L love n it still. Lil over 10,000mi when the dryer in the wash comes on it make my hood/ roof pop too. On a cold start pull n off there's an occasional slip in 1st to 2nd. Only hear a pop every now and then pulling in or out of the driveway something suspension-wise pops?
Sounds about right. Lol
Still loving mine as well. Congrats on the ride my friend.
How is your fuel economy in the city driving?
When I get 150 feet down my road I get creaks and pops, but I think that's because I'm getting old.... Oh trucks?, you're talking about trucks. Tim, when you're truck gets the millage I've put in and it's still running then you know you've got a true work horse... Anyway, I'm just here for the support and lighten the comment section..... @@PC2Channel You said it, as a groupie once said to me in the back of our tour bus in the early 70s when I was not in the mood, "Oh honey, all you need is a spit and wax and you'll run just fine".. Gotta love those Florida girls LOL.

Oh dang.. That's odd. I'm still averaging 20.7 easy. Sounds like your fuel management system is whacked. That's a freaking bummer for sure
I get 24-28 mpg running 93 octane ever since it was new, 16,000 on it now on my 23
2020 silverado custom 4x4 5.3 13000 miles no noises or anything.

Looking to get a 2022 trail boss here in a couple days hopefully I can get it and it has the 2.7 and I know it’s better on gas then my current truck and will be better in the long run but I’m excited for it to arrive at the dealer so I can go look at it and take it for a test drive

I have a new 2022 Custom. Same pop in the car wash. No problems though.
Thanks for the comment my friend. Congrats on the new ride. Stay safe out there
Where are you located? I bought my 2021 4x4 2.7T from a dealer in Massachusetts. The truck was built in Tennessee and has additional spray guard etc for northern climate. Currently I have 9,200 miles and I have no creeks or noises, nothing during a car wash. Been on a few 800 and 500 mile road trips and smooth as a baby’s ass. I love this truck!
We are in Western NC (Near Winston Salem). Truck came from Indianapolis plant. Sitting on about 12,500 miles. We go adventuring all the time. Same here Smooth and comfy. Put 1200 on it 2 weeks after I got it on a Fishing Vacation to the coast. Unfortunately there was a bad tropical storm, so we did alot of riding around site seeing. First weekend I got it, we put 400 on it just riding all over the mountains and so on. Hope it keeps going and is a good Truck for many years. Congratulations on yours. How's that Massachusetts weather currently?
@@PC2Channel thanks for the reply and sounds like you get around. I’m actually on Long Island, NY. I found my truck in Massachusetts. My lease on my Colorado was up in about 9 months and started looking around. Found my Silverado up there and at the time LI dealers had very few and $47K sticker.
Congratulations on the new ride. I certainly report the gear issue with your dealership.
Yes i do hear the weird popping noises 2021 chevy Silverado custom 2.7L
Thank you for letting me know. Several so far have reported it as well.
It is a bit concerning that they make so much noise at times. We will see how it goes with mine.
Just picked the custom silverado.....muffler sound kinda a lil thin any suggestions to add besides eliminating the muffler?
So one of my Subscribers (Jose) here said he had just had Flowmaster Super 44 installed and was very pleased. I'm looking at an upgrade as well.
I feel your pain ; I have 345 miles on my new Silverado 2022, and the ass end is making all kinds of noises. Feels like they’re rear end is gonna fall out. Have to get it back to the dealership, wish I would’ve kept my old truck 2019 trail boss. 🇺🇸
Oh my.. That's crazy.
What are you doing to your truck for that to happen
Nothing, it's straight from the factory and many have experienced it as well
Does your 2.7 turbo take premium or regular gas? Looking at a 23 Colorado and all they offer are the 2.7 now no more v6’s.
I have ran on Regular and add a Tank of Premium about every 3 months. My rep at the dealership suggested that. No issues at all.
In 2021 one of the Tech's told me that this would be the go to engine for GM in future models.
I’m in the market for one or dodge bighorn v6 or ford xl stx 2.7 I don’t need a v8 but I like the space of full size trucks
I can't argue that at all. Great points my friend.
I ended up getting a new 2021 Tundra last may so take been a year and 18k miles later. Truck has been solid ! No complains other than a small dash rattle that can be annoying

So the body pops and the shocks creek. What about what's important, "the 2.7l v4 Turbo engin"?
Solid so far. No issues at all.
Didn't realize gm even built vehicles without 4low. Definitely a necessity when you're above 13k feet in the mountains and have 1/4 the horsepower. On the flip side though, the turbo is really going to help with that though, maybe the reason they didn't include 4 low?
Yeah, I totally missed it when I was buying mine.

Make the 2.7 even stronger and bump its power a bit' more....I think that would be a great combination of engines for these trucks and hopefully, they will but the 2.7t in the Colorado and Canyon as well.
