2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Custom 4x4 2.7L I-4 Turbo Review | NEW TRUCK REVIEW
2023 silverado 2.7 45,xxx miles 24+ mpg average Afe down pipes, cold air and filter. Rear sway bar With a drag pack 15.92 et back to back runs. Always in the $$$ because its so consistent. 91 1/4 mile passes so far. Zero issues so far
Bought a 2024 Custom Crew Cab 2.7L and I'm leaking oil from the back of the oil pan @ 9100 miles.
I purchased it in July of this year 2024.
Can’t keep my truck clean always has dust out of nowhere like hours after cleaning it’s crazy
2024 1500 custom I’m very happy with it and I bought it for personal use not to put it to work 👍🏼
My 2024 5.3l Silverado has a metal in oil from new. At 790 miles the oil filter was clogged! Dealer said it’s fine. 400 miles later changed filter again full of metal. And the dealer said it’s fine. The amazing part is 3009 miles later it is still running perfectly. With an average mpg of 20. FYI
How is your fuel economy in the city driving?
My 88 454 dually 323000 still runs good 99 toyota 600 000 runs good it surprises me when people say wow made it to 25000 no problems yet I will never buy a new vehicle
Four banger full size pickup,...haha, what could go wrong?
Traded in my f-150 supercrew on a ‘22 Silverado with the 2.7turbo because I stumbled upon a fantastic price. So far have been happy. Strange that some of the controls are not on the steering wheel. Getting 22.5 empty but that drops to 19 with a load.
I’m glad you like your truck. With that said, I just wish GM would build a basic truck that the average working Joe can afford that offers a 6.2 engine. To get the 6.2, you have to get the upper trim level which adds at least 10k. They won’t let you have that engine in the cheap trim level.
They putting all that electronics in the truck to steer you away from the fact that they putting trash engines in the big trucks i will never buy a turbo charged v4 im sticking with a naturally aspirated V8
I did a 40 mile loop yesterday in a 2.7 Silverado. I did highway and city driving. I hated it. Cruising on the highway was okay. At speed, the boost was weak. It may have some low end torque, but it runs out of steam really quick. I think it’s partly because of the transmission. I owned an F150 Ecoboost and this 2.7 doesn’t come close.
I traded my F150 Ecoboost in for a Z71 2.7. The 2.7 is far better. haha
Engine should be fine. Most of the torques is available at 1500 rpm.
In other words..if you drive it like a compact car, all is well..if you actually use it like a truck....well..then maybe not so great especially the mpg drop under load. Aside from the turbo the ridiculous price they ask is the major deal-killer for me...buts that's across all manufactures..it's all stupid expensive...good luck with your truck.
I just picked up my 2021 custom with the 2.7. It was a GM certified that came with the 100K powertrain warranty and all that. I'm pretty much using it like you are as well as for delivering my art work. No heavy hauling. I got it with 29K on it, all dealer serviced. Such an amazing truck. Smooth and fast as hell. Most of the horror stories I've been seeing is from people doing super heavy hauling though and I'm not doing that. The truck is beautiful.
I don't understand the push to turbo. My 2014 5.7 hemi got 22mpg for day to day driving. That was with a 3.92 rear end for towing. Towing, it would drop to 15-16mpg. A 3.21 typically gets about 23mpg for day to day driving. On a trip across NW PA to Dayton Oh, I averaged 26mpg, as long as I kept it under 70mph. Once I hit 70+ on the interstate, the mpg dropped to 20mpg. I know the 2.7 chevy is making huge torque, comparing to a diesel, and outperforms the 5.3 in its torque curve. It actually has impressive numbers for a smaller package.
At least you didn’t get a Toyota with metal shavings in the engine from “TWO DIFFERENT” manufacturing facilities. That’s a cover up if I ever heard one. Love my Silverado 5.3 Texas Edition!
Purge pump quit working at 47k
The astronomical price of this truck is what broke the bank
Prices of everything have gone off the rails.
Where u been what’s not expensive
I love my Chevy custom 2.7 L .
What does plastic have to do with being "basic"? "Basic" can mean just about anything. Usually, it means it doesn't have fearures most vehicles have, like power windows.
Only a V 8 in a pickup.
I have little sympathy for the vast majority of truck owners. I'm going to be a little conservative here and say that 90% of them run the proverbial shite out of them. Be it the interstate, around town, or anyplace else, they simply abuse them to no end. I've owned three fairly modern American made trucks. More specifically Dodge and Chevrolet. From 2003 to present neither of these vehicles presented any issues. I do drive and maintain them like my father taught me and like I've got a small fortune invested in them. When I was a young buck my father told me that when I had to pay for the repairs, I'd start driving more intelligently. Unfortunately, some folks never learn that lesson.
25k on my Silverado 4cyl has held up through Texas and Colorado it’s a 2023 no complaints and change oil every 5k miles
I have the 24 trail boss 2.7 and I’m just getting 12.8 miles a gallon
I have a 2020 Silverado turbo 4. 68k miles so far. Engine is great, however I am having issues with the transmission…..
Just picked up my 2024 elevation with the 2.7. So far I love the truck. I’ve put 200km on it and so far I’m impressed! I had a 2011 SLE with the5.3 and this new 4 cylinder is just as enjoyable to drive!
My Cummins powered 2018 will not pass emissions since the recall. Ram dealer is offering no help. This truck is 100 percent stock and well maintained with 55,xxx miles on it. Still under factory extended warranty. Never again Ram/Stellantis, never again.
Just picked up my 2024 Silverado 1500 with the Turbo Max Engine. The Window Sticker states: • 5 YEAR / 100,000 MILE* POWERTRAIN LIMITED WARRANTY, ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE & COURTESY TRANSPORTATION. Nice suprise for me.
Just bought a 2021 Silverado 1500 custom 2.7 turbo. I agree it’s a a lot to say. It have 59k for miles on it and so far of the 2 weeeks of ownership, it’s been quiet, and not having really any issues whatsoever. I came from a turbo car, so I was hesitant on getting a turbo truck, but I agree I love it and agree it’s a sexy truck 🤙
Bought my 2022 2.7 back in nov 2021 and your videos really made me confident in buying it. Great truck other than a fuel injector at around 10,000-15,000km. I had to wait for the part but other then that no issues, hasn’t left me on the side of the road at 88,000km still! Would recommend great fuel economy
I have a 2022 silverado 2.7, I am getting rid of it I am only getting 17 mpg and the transmisson is going out and I only have 28000 miles I just purchased a dodge ram 1500 v8 hemi
I'm still driving my 2001 E150 Conversion Van 5.4L Triton Automatic with 190,345 miles. I've spent roughly 11-12K for maintenance/service/minor repairs on the vehicle. No Turbos or AFM/DFM bullshit to worry about. There is no oil/trans fuel on my driveway to date. I'm up in age as a Senior, I require a vehicle with safety features to assist me in driving on blacktop roads in Georgia. I'm considering GMC SIERRA 2500 HD CAB) 6.6L (403 CID) SLE 2WD LWB or Savana 3500 Extended Passenger Van 6.6L (403 CID). The main reasons are: the 6.6L (403 CID) is old-school tech, meaning no auto start-stop; dynamic cylinder deactivation; and either can tow 10,000 lbs trailers. The Savana has a slight edge over the Sierra and carries family members and two Large DOG crates.
back in the day we wouldn’t worry till 100000 miles. now it 20 or 50 thousand 🥹
Very true. No matter what you buy. Crazy to think
2021 trail boss at 19k miles. No real issues. One time the radio wouldn't turn off No matter what I did including turning off the key, taking the key out and exiting the truck. Had to disconnect the battery. Only did it once.
I've had a couple times where my radio would just freeze up. Had to turn off the truck until it did the complete shutdown before turning the truck back on.
I have a 2023 and have put 15k miles on. Started running really rough at around 7k and the techs at the dealership won't troubleshoot it without a code to run on. Rough acceleration and can feel everything through the gas pedal. Engine gets loud enough that I can barely hear the turbo. Don't know what to do about it. Fuel economy has gone down as well
Dang. That's not cool at all. I hope you get an answer soon my friend
I want to be buried in my GMC A/T 2500HD, that’s how much I love my truck. 3rd generation of proud hardworking family here, who have always relied on GM trucks mainly, but I wouldn’t mind trying other vehicles from them
Get better the 5.3 cylinders instead of 4 cylinders buy a kia or Mitsubishi or who need a truck to carry groceries around town ? 2.7 turbo with dmf Gm killing those engines . New trucks zero problems obviously everything good should work fine but now good luck if can reach 100,000 with that engine very poor design shame Gm turbo will fail the money you saving in gas you will spend it repair that goofy engine!
I drove Chevy's trucks and cars from the 80's till '01 and switched to Ford... the trucks are "ok" but the ford cars were horrible.... I then went with the "out of USA brands" and got MUCH better service. Sad but true. I need a new truck , but scared to buy Domestic Trucks anymore! Great video , thanks for posting.
I’m a Toyota guy used to own one of the earlier tundra until 2020. Bought a new f150 2.7 v6 twin turbo. I get 23mpg, 325 hp 400+ torque. I was very skeptical but did my research across Facebook groups and owner forum. Seems like 2.7 doesn’t have the cam phaser 3.5 has or the cylinder deactivation the 5.0 v8 has. I’m 4 years into the ownership all I had to replace were the tires. Used 87 sometimes 93 octane from Costco or shell. I’m at 50k miles and it’s super pleased. The sync 3 touch screen did have some problem with the radio but I forced an update over the air and it’s working again. I didn’t have to pull into the dealer. Trucks are all the same with quality these days it’s like playing bingo. Some win some lose. I used bingo instead of scratch off ticket or lottery because the chance of owner stepping into a landline is higher with these truck.
I love my 2016 ram 1500 with the 3.6 pentastar. Im exited because its gonna reach the 100,000 mile mark. Yes ive had to replace a cam because of the rocker arms like at 85k. It really didn't eat up my wallet too bad.
I have a 2021 with the 2.7 so far all good. A suggestion for keeping it clean, put a coat or 2 of turtle wax seal and shine on it. I can drive in a rain storm and when it dries you can't hardly see any dirt or spotting. My truck is bright red.
Little over 50, zero issues with only oil changes
Basic model 50k lmfao you can get a top of the line Honda Hyundai or Kia
Turn in your man card no one should reward GM for building a four cylinder full-size pick up. Shame on you for buying it. GM should be out of business.
Have a 2021 Silverado 2.7 turbo hit 30k miles lifter went out and engine had to be replaced they are now saying this is a common problem with the 2.7 engine
Hims that weird I have a 2.7l turbo and tops out at 100 I wonder why your does 105
I like my truck with the 2.7
My 2022 2 injectors broke down at 22000 milles and the dealer fix
Shoehorn the 2.7 into a Skye, or Solstice. GM's big mistake of killing off two promising marques.
