Hello, I am American and I’m retiring at the end of the month. I guess UA-cam threw me your channel. 😊 I like that your channel is real and upfront. I watch these other channels where they have music and everything is so perfect the decoration they all seem to have these expensive pots and pans and everything is just so and not something I could live up to. I’ve been looking for a channel where it’s real life. I wanted to try you too, but I only have my iPhone. I don’t even have a eye tripod. then they say you need a microphone and ring lights and a good camera and it just all seems so overwhelming. I noticed you uploaded a 35 minute video it seems if like I upload a five or 10 minute video then my Internet provider slows me down for a few days. anyway, thank you for your suggestions and tips. You did a fantastic job and it was lovely to watch. Good day.
Thank you. I try to keep uploads to15-20 minutes now. Buying equipment would defeat the object of me keeping things real. I have a small tripod, that I've had a long time. X
You have just popped up on my iPad I loved watching you preparing and cooking all that food, I am seventy I live alone and I waste an awful of food, I am going to check to your Chanel in future to cut down on waste and batch cook,I live in Ireland so those stews will go down very well in our cold weather, thank you once again, your great 🙌🏻🤗
Thank you! I'm a newby to your channel. You are an inspiration. I want to go back to batch cooking and your ideas (and tips) has just spurred me on...looking forward to making it real again 😊
Thank you. Batch cooking is worth the effort. Obviously, you save energy and money. But the mistake important one is time. You can just go to the freezer when you want a night off and get something out, that you know has no nasties in it. X
Hi Happy new year I have just found your channel and find that you have content that interests me. I have subscribed to your channel as it is very helpful, thank you for your time in making these videos
Hi 😊 you have just popped up here on my feed. I have subscribed to your channel as like you I am a UK pensioner. Love all your tips etc for using up everything. Something I try to do too 😊now off to watch rest of your videos. Enjoy your day😊
Very interesting. I have Leah’s cooked from scratch and as a pensioner now I’m so pleased that I can cook our food and not have to buy less healthy but more expensive ready-meals. Keep up the good work
First video of yours I’ve watched. You did a great job. We are about the same age and I am newly single after having a large family it can be hard to adjust to cooking for one. I’ll definitely look forward to watching more of your videos
I only have state pension, but I batch cook meals and freeze.I make all my own soups, but love the tips about rice noodles to soup. Will take this tip on board. I freeze my bread and as I do not eat much it lasts. I make a large chicken breast into 3 meals by adding vegetables. As I live alone, it is hard spending days alone in the house, so going to shops gives me something to do, but then I spend when no need. Thank you for all your tips.
Here in Scotland we are fond of doughballs rather than dumplings all you need is some SR flour seasoned with salt and pepper add teaspoon of baking powder mix to thick dough and drop into stee, mince etc and cook lie dumplings lovely with any meal with a gravy.
Well done stretching out those ingredients 💕quiche are great for using those left over bits and pieces from the fridge I have started using a tortilla wrap for the base of a quiche and sprinkle mixed herbs over the top yum! I am doing a no spend January to eat from my fridge pantry and freezers. Xxx
If a carrot goes soft I put it in a tub/bowl of water and leave in the refrigerator for about 24 hours and it crisps up again, I do the same with limp lettuce too
I mostly use whatever is in season and therefore cheaper, like my mum used to before we imported stuff from all over the world. Thanks for your comment. X
Just to say I take zero notice of dates on eggs and instead go by the 'float test'. My eggs last way longer than the dates stated. I just pop them in a jug of water to make sure they are not floating before I go ahead and use them. Very very rarely do I get ones that float and if i do then obviously I discard them. Also i have heard that some people freeze the eggs by cracking them into an ice cube tray - I haven't actually tried that myself.
I crack 3 or 4 into a bowl and scramble them before putting them in a freezer bag with the air pushed out. I use them to make scrambled eggs, omelets, Qhiche and also in baking.
Hello from the USA. The USDA says eggs that float have decreased quality but may be eaten. They say to crack the egg. If it looks or smells off, do not eat it. Eggs can be refrigerated for about 4 weeks before being used.
Just found your channel, thanks for your content. I like to see british people batch cook because americans always have different ingredients that arent available here and they measure everything in cups and sticks! I like to see food made from what I generally have in my house. I had no idea mince pies were so cheap I have half a pound left to use up (thanks for the reminder) Can I ask, did u make one batch of pastry for the quiche and mince pies and then add a bit of sugar to the mince pie pastry? I usually make shortbread instead of pastry but I ought to just make short crust pastry I'm sure its healthier!
Yes, one batch of pastry. Most British 'sweet' pies and tarts don't require sugar added to the pastry. The mince pies were an end of sale, yellow sticker bargain, they would normally have been £2 at least. I personally love batch cooking. It uses so much up and there's always something I'm the freezer to eat! X
TANIA youre bloody fabulous ❤❤ just found you. Im also in the uk north west. If you need any help please reach out. I help my dad also. Times are hard and about to get harder ❤
Im new to your channel, I have a question please. I noticed you had cooked meat and raw meat on the same chopping board early in thevideo. Was that just for display purposes or are you not too worried about cross contamination? Im just interested in your thoughts? Im so paranoid about it,perhaps its not necessary to be so cautious after all? thanks
I wouldn't normally but both meats were going to be cooked. Plus the chicken was frozen solid at the time. It was an accident, well spotted. I'm still here and I had no adverse effects.
Between them, my state & private pensions just about cover my rent, council tax and bills. I'm using a legacy for everything else, having had to give up my allotment on health grounds. I'm vegetarian, haven't been on holiday since before COVID & am £4 above the limit for WFA & WHA so I don't think you're a reliable guide.

Batch cooking allows you time off, maybe when you can't face cooking. There's always a meal in the freezer you can choose. Thanks for watching. X
Very interesting video. Never mind about the mishaps, we all make them.❤
Thank you, everything gets eaten. x

That's really handy to know, as I almost always have those ingredients in my larder. x
What do you mix those ingredients with to make a dough? Do you use utter or something similar?
I need to do a pantry and freezer challenge to use up what I have. You have good ideas
Its too easy to focus on buying and not using. So yes set yourself a challenge to use what you've got. Save the money you don't spend. x
Your doing a grand job I’m enjoying your videos 🥰
Thank you, I'm loving the comments too. So helpful. x
Loving your channel , learning a lot of good tips. Thank you. ❤
Thank you, I never know if I'm boring people! x
I’m not pension age just yet but I’ve subscribed to your channel as I think it’s very useful for me thank you 😊

Yes I've used tortilla too for quiche and pizza. Well done on the no spend, its good to take stock of what we already have. x
Verify good job !!❤❤ Everything looks delicious 😊
Thank you. X
I’ve just this second found you. I’m 69. Thank you so much.

Good on you love 👍
Thanks so much. X
another really helpful Video
You cook like me. I’m going to freeze more now so food doesn’t get wasted. Nice to learn different ways of cooking. For example turkey new to me.

Well done making these - they are great
Thank you, its worth the effort.x
Very resourceful.
Enjoyed watching from NYC.
Thank you, x
being a woman of a certain age as well, I enjoy your videos. Just a tip to try, I've never pre-cooked my quiche bases or had a problem with them.
Good to know, thank you, I'll give it a go. x
I make a crust less quiche. I am diabetic and do not need a crust due to carbs.
@@lynnhensley4326 I do from time to time too. x
I don’t cook the quiche bottom first but l do prick the bottom before I put the filling ln
And l use half milk half double cream delicious
Happy New year, Just found your channel. Your recipes are similar to mine x
Thank you. Simple and easy. X
I’m learning how to meal plan and batch cook 😊
A very useful set of skills. It reduces so much waste and therefore money! x
Thank you 🎉
Great meals for so little cost.
Thank you.x
Hi,
Thanks Tanya just watched my first video and subscribed.
I will be 66 this year, so..😀
I think you will be a big help and inspiration.
@lauren6889 Hello, welcome, and thank you. X
Great video, some good ideas for healthy, hearty food. Do you use your pressure cooker as a pressure cooker or just as a big pan. I had the same 1. 😊
Yes, I do use it as a pressure cooker too. They are a godsend. Mine is very old now. X 😔
wow you look amazing for 68 I never would have guess a day over 55!! Lovely!
Wow, thank you! X

Thank you for your kind words, really appreciated. Agreed about 'hard times'. x
The mince pies looked so good. How long did they last in the fridge? I would be so tempted to eat them quickly 😂 x
They'll last a week quite easily but as you say the temptation gets you first ! x

Good assortment of meals from the fridge leftovers.

I think Tesco sells Turkey legs all year.
Thank you. I dont have a local Tesco but both my daughters have one near them. X
@LivingonaUKStatePension when your daughters visit ask them to grab you some you can use one and freeze one😎
Loving your video, but camera shake doesn’t sit well with my aged brain. Do you need a tripod perhaps.
