Top video Happy Trooper, wonderful bit by bit or step by step build. I enjoyed it immensely and good use of the 'everyday' items to make a great looking prop. Sadly Darth Girlfriend would frown on such a waste of my skills to make an item that would be of no use in our home! keep up the good work...loved the heavy blaster too
4 years ago, I followed most of your procedures of making the E-11 stormtrooper blaster although I didn't use the rubies version, but the Disney Parks version which it'll become a bit rare nowadays. I made it and sold someone, but I'm starting to miss the work that I've done, now I'm think of making another one just for my personal SW collection. Wish me luck!
Thanks for all the ideas! Waiting on the gun to ship from Amazon. Gonna leave the fake D-ring on and use either a 2 way cable split or 2 to 1 RCA jack as my power source
Nice! I've got myself a Hasbro E11 which I hope to modify - it's a good size but missing many of the key details... I already painted up another blaster last summer and filled it with 350g of plasticine to give it more 'heft'
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment :-) I will upload a few stills on my blog tonight. The only pics that I have are the still that I have shown in the video. I will also throw a few up of me holding it in my Sandtrooper armor. I'll post another reply once they are online. Thank you again for watching and sub'ing. MTFBWY!
Nice build , I have the E11 from Sheperden design studio's, An ur Blaster is awesome , A little short tho but super cool non the less. The Empire approves!
Very nice. 18 thumbs down Rebel Scum are fearful of this weapon that's not as clumsy or random as a lightsaber. The Rubie's works pretty well as a base. Check out my vid of the Kenner "Drill" version. It'd be fun to mod that a little bit. I also have vids taking apart my Kenner Falcon, X-wing and TIE Fighter to un-sieze the SFX motors. They hadn't been run in 30 years. I'd like to take the blaster apart but it works and it's debatable how hard it is to get back together. I thought I'd never get the TIE Fighter back together with the wing springs and the round shape. I literally gave it one last try or I was going to give up lol MTFBWY
HappyTrooper I used a Clone Trooper Helmet once to make it look more like a Mandalorian styled Helmet. I used a different weathering technique. Mostly spray painting Metallic Silver on it first and after 24 hours applying Matte Black and waiting only an hour before taking a wide bristle paint brush and making it look like it'd been scuffed up in live combat. That weathered look always makes it look like it'd been through many battles and held its own.
Planning on using the weathering and painting techniques to make my Nerf Rampage look more like a custom E-11 model (if Lucasfilm can keep making up variants, then so can I.)
Hello and good afternoon my name is kevin and I've got a rubies e-11 blaster I drilled 9 holes between and then I painted the detailing first and then I painted the main blaster
Here was the response from my GML: "Your weapon needs to match the CRL, but it doesn't need to be officially approved". I take that as, you can troop with it. However, if you are a TK going for Centurion or Expert Infrantryman approval, your weapon must then meet the standards here: databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_stunt After reading that, it definitely won't pass Centurion, but it looks like it may pass Expert Infantry.
Hello, thank you for watching. The Rubies blaster is a bit smaller than an actual E-11 prop. Here is a pic of me holding it, as you can see it is a smaller, but it is large enough to comfortably grip it and use it as a prop. goo.gl/O1bdfy Rubies also makes a First Order blaster, but it is too small, an adult cannot grip it comfortably, or get a finger in the trigger hole. While the Rubie's E-11 is smaller, it is still a good enough size to use as a prop or display weapon.
Did you seal the paint when it was done? How has your paint job held up? Got one of these and wish i had found your video a week ago.... Last night I changed my mind. I will update using the techniques you made in this video. Some questions I have: 1. If you are going to just cover the hole on the large side of the scope, then why did you drill it out? Why not just glue the picture flat agains the intact flat scope? Or did yours already have a hole in scope at both ends? Mine I bought is solid on both ends. Did you drill out the front? 2. Why didn't you make the ring for the scope the same diameter as the large end of the scope instead of having the step? The pics I have found do not have this step. 3. Did you glue the pop rivets to the power cylinders or not? Because it I do not see them when you glue the power cylinders to the blaster. 4. I ordered two pack of mic jacks. Glad I did. I had horrible time cutting mic jack perpendicular. So , what I did instead is I did not cut the black portion of mic jack. Instead I drilled an undersized hole with closest size drill bit I had. Then I sanded hole larger until I could press fit the mic jack into the hole. Then I glued it in place. 5. Also, looking back at video now, it looks like video sanded power cylinders smooth . I wish I had done that. Not sure I want to go back and sand now that they are painted.
I haven't tried submitting it for approval, so I do not know if it would be approved. I do troop with it. I've seen other 501st members trooping with this blaster (& similar plastic costume blasters) and all that they've done is spray it black. I will shoot an email to my GML to see...will post shortly. These aren't the best photos, but here you can see a few of my "missions" that I've trooped with this E-11: happytrooper.com/?page_id=3554
go to a dive shop and purchase some lead shot and before you start take the blaster apart in x2 halves and mix the lead shot with resin and put it in various places inside let it cure then reassemble, I did an MP40 bb gun for a re-enactor friend of mine the gun was orange in colour I took it all apart sprayed it and re-assembled it aged it with the lead shot inside and it looks good and has the weight to it but with the blaster don't fill it right up as it will require a reinforced holster and it will be too heavy hope this is of some help.
I have seen many other troopers "troop" with this weapon. Not mine, but I've seen people who just buy the Rubie's blaster and spray it flat black without doing anything else. The Rubie's blaster is about 3/4 size of the original E-11, so there is a size difference. For an inexpensive and light-weight E-11, this is not a bad option. With a little extra work, you can make that plastic prop stand out. If you are looking to get approved with it, check with your GML.
My armor is from Anovos.com. They do not specifically sell "Sandtrooper" armor, I weathered it with acrylic paints. While Sandtrooper armor is almost identical to Stormtrooper armor, there are a few subtle differences. I have a blog post listing most of the differences, here: happytrooper.com/?p=5354 The shoulder pauldron is from trooperbay.com. The backpack is scratch built and has an MP40 ammo pouch attached to the left backpack strap.
Hello Happy Trooper I have followed your instructions to the word building the e-11 blaster very impressed, The only problem I am having is the power cylinders, The reason being is that I went to shapeways.com to purchase one I am in the U.K, and they want £9.00 GBP , However when I went to the checkout they wanted £28.00 GBP for shipping which I think is extortionate, I have purchased things from the U.S. before much larger items and paid less for the shipping, So I am asking could you possibly send me the dimensions of the power cylinder tubes length and diameter this would be very helpful in my build, Also I have ordered another Blaster the same that I am going to take apart use the x2 sides and from the outside make some fibre glass moulds to make a blaster, Best Regards
Hello, this is Stormtrooper armor from Anovos.com. I weathered it to make it look like a Sandtrooper using brown, gray, and yellow acrylic paint. If you are interested in constructing armor, I recommend checking out mepd.net (for sandtroopers) or whitearmor.net for Stormtroopers. May the Force be with you!
You put a lot of effort into this project and you got my full respect for that but unfortunately it still looks like a toy for kids because the size of that "toy" is not acurate to the blasters used in the movie. Also the barrel where the windshieldwipers are seem to have a rounded form which is also not acurate. All things considered, a good job. Imperial greetings:-)
Was it really necessary to post this? Couldn’t you have just commented “good job?” It was pretty unwarranted for you to rag on HappyTrooper’s fantastic project. And after all, your critique is wrong. The e11 blasters used in the Original Trilogy were actually quite small, and while his replica may not be quite as big, it’s definitely not as big a difference as you’re making it seem.
Really man? The blaster looks awesome, and last time I checked I haven't seen you make anything better. And by the way, google "e-11 blaster a new hope" and you'll see the blaster from the original movies aren't much bigger then a pistol. It's just cosplay man

Haha! I keep hearing a soda can opening.
Thanks for all the ideas! Waiting on the gun to ship from Amazon. Gonna leave the fake D-ring on and use either a 2 way cable split or 2 to 1 RCA jack as my power source
Awesome video. Very helpful. I’ll be using it to convert a Rubies to something a bit less toy like. Thanks!
That is the best conversion video ever. Very practical and very clever.
awesome video...new to the channel..love it..keep these projects coming...big star wars fan...who isn't! lol
Nice! I've got myself a Hasbro E11 which I hope to modify - it's a good size but missing many of the key details...

I just ordered my rubies blaster, you can't beat the price for this prop.
nice! can u do a star wars thermal detonator that would be cool
this looks cool though I might cut the pieces on the barel to make it look more like the movie
FZG 2.0 yeah I agree with you too but I'm concerned it might go through the plastic
You just earned yourself a sub! I just wish you showed everything after it was built. kinda want to see how perty that baby looks by itself

Great tutorial gave me some great ideas!

After cutting the sight rail.. what and how did you fill in the hole..
I died when the crappy cgi dinosaur walked by hahaha that fits in just fine.
Good tip putting the paint in warm water!
Gun looks amazing
Wow. That is awesome.
Looks sick dude!

I see the unseen. The base for this blaster is the UK "Sterling" submachine gun...
Duco Maritiem if you're a Star Wars fan then u most likely know that. But still, for you identify that without looking it up is still pretty cool.
Epic!!! Thank you for making this!
This is really helpful thanks :)
I might trace an old 1997 Hasbro E-11's grip to make a DH-17 with some piping and 3D printed parts.
@HappTrooperDotCom what are your plans for some other build tutorials
Wow... 51 people just suck. I enjoyed this tutorial. Thank you for sharing.
Nice video, any word back from the GML? Happy Trooping.

how did you get the inside of the blaster black? my gun came with stripped screws so opening the gun isn't an option for me.
How accurate is this in regards to size when compared to the actual blaster?
EDIT: Oh, and fantastic vid, I subscribed :)

No point having a blaster tks miss everything😝
I kept looking for where you showed cutting out the rail. You show it cut out but don't demonstrate it
I think I'll do this sometime
Hey Happy Trooper! The reticle links seem to be broken on the forums. Is there anyway you can post or send me those files? Thank you!
Real hokey looking
Pretty cool
Amazing!
Great vid happy!!! Do you happen to have an e11 blaster holster template?
Would this be 501st approved if done correctly?
I haven't tried submitting it for approval, so I do not know if it would be approved. I do troop with it. Dude ..how many sodas you drinking ?
I like the fx
Am I alone in thinking the Stormtrooper blaster looks very much like a "Mauser Werke A.-G Automatic Pistol model 57?
I can see the resemblance, both came from the same time period. The e11 is just a modified Sterling SMG. Mag shortened and stuff glued on.
do you put the spray paint can for 5 minutes in the sink when you get ready to do the 2nd lair of spray paint the next day? please respond
Cool
ha, that "other" blaster was Leia's first blaster in ANH.
Any trick to painting the inside after drilling out the holes? do you have to disassemble the gun to do so?
any idea on how you can add some weights on the inside to feel a bit more heavy like most blasters? i hate how the rubies are hallow.
go to a dive shop and purchase some lead shot and before you start take the blaster apart in x2 halves and mix the lead shot with resin and put it in various places inside let it cure then reassemble, I did an MP40 bb gun for a re-enactor friend of mine the gun was orange in colour I took it all apart sprayed it and re-assembled it aged it with the lead shot inside and it looks good and has the weight to it but with the blaster don't fill it right up as it will require a reinforced holster and it will be too heavy hope this is of some help.
Is this compatible with the 501 legion requirements?
I have seen many other troopers "troop" with this weapon. Not mine, but I've seen people who just buy the Rubie's blaster and spray it flat black without doing anything else. @@HappyTrooperDotCom Great, thank you
Can you open out the foldable stock?
It's a piece of crap cheap plastic toy. Does it look like you can open up the stock?
I guess the cgi in the background in the intro was part of the special editions then?
Luke warm huh? I THOUGHT YOU WERE AN IMPERIAL STORMTROOPER?
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the temperature of a tauntaun's innards is lukewarm.
"Do a barrel hole!"
I'm sorry.
What font did you use for the counter numerals?
This is the new hope variant right?
You sound EXACTLY like Mando holy shiiiid

HappyTrooper, hello fellow trooper!
Make me all the blasters you made
looks good but a lot of work... dont know if I will have time to do all of that...
Take's time to do things the right way.
Buy the rubies blaster and then just paint the damn thing and you are done

Is the silver a acryl Colour? Greetings
Hello, for the dry brushing, I did not use acryl, I used Testors enamel. I suppose you could use acryl...I have never tried it.
it is a Sterling machine gun....(ww2)
ytrezazerty1 Ah, you've seen it just before me.... Forgotten Weapons channel fan???
The Sterling was invented after WW2 during the 50s
Wait, did people actually steal your primer?

he mentioned he was part of the 501st, so i would assume he built his costume. :)

That’s what’s called a back handed compliment.
It's more the guy getting mad at Rubies than anything else.
