Curbless Shower Mud Job.

- Part 2 of Curbless GURU Shower System. Today I will show you how easy it is to do a proper mud job on your shower floor. The biggest issue is people overthink it and try to make it perfect. A barrier free shower system many times has large format tile on top, which is very forgiving when tiling.
All in this whole shower system was under $500. Which is much cheaper than Schluter Shower System and Laticrete shower system.

Good job mate!!! Beatiful from

Tar paper is not to code regulations, need to use PVC pan liner for proper waterproofing.
Will there be some kind of waterproofing or liner on top of the mud bed?
I am surprised you didn't use Kerdi - the difference in material cost offsets the reduction in labor.
Hello. Would you please tell me what drain you use? Reson for me to ask is to know the level from the center.
I really hope I can see how you do it from beginning to end. Don't fast forward.😊
tar paper then staple through it for chicken wire? no liner? yeah, that will rot and leak.
I was wondering the same...didn't see a liner between the bed and the walls.
He doesn’t install liner. He just go with drypack + waterproof membrane (Guru, Kerdi, etc).
newbie question. is there a trick for what you did on the front to level the floor with the flange but along the walls?
Intriguing. Does the mud ever harden? It just looks like a sand and dirt mix.
Then when you go to put stuff on top of it, like the heated matting you just spoke of at the end, doesn't that then put indentations in that mud - throwing out of level?
It hardens just like any mortar
it gets hard, still easy when doing demo to break it into pieces but especially if he puts the waterproofing membrane on top of it, and since it’s locked between the frame on all sides of it, shouldn’t go anywhere. i’ve demoed dry pack pans and they hold up pretty well
Are you putting the guru on that shower pan? If so is that a bonding flange?
Yes sir .. go in 🇨🇦✌🏿🛠️🍻
Laticrete rep told me that mud has a minimum thickness of 2”
I would use a nice straight piece of oak for a screed. Why dirty up a level?
What do you think a mason or concrete worker does?
Takes a second to wipe it with water.
you'll dirty it when checking for pitch anyway. Tile tends to replace a level each year anyway.
Where is the pan liner?
