Orion HCCA 154 motor Realignment

- Much to Mr M's dismay the HCCA that arrived with what was supposed to be a seized voice coil turned out to have a shifted motor, Through shear genius and ingenuity Mr M came up with a plan on the fly and designed and built custom tools to execute a flawless slug realignment.

I got 2 to do …going to be copying this method, (detaching and reattaching) ty bro, helps tons
There should be a felt pen mark of some kind that shows how the slugs were aligned. If there isn’t I recommend drawing one before you separate, provided it’s obvious where they came apart. But I guess if it’s obvious where they came apart what purpose does the line serve 🤷♂️🤣.
@@MrM_Full-Send lol right, but ya they each have a line drawn from top to bottom, almost like they knew.Ike the line on your top plate it just goes all the way down to bottom slug. They are newer motors too so no pole heatsink either to mess with. Although my SPL motor still has one, so glad that’s not one of my damaged motors to do …damn thing weighs over 100lbs alone, I’ll post some photos on IG if you’ve never seen the SPL motor bro, insane and will never shift, ever. You’ll see why
What glue did you use
MG chemicals 832HT
Great video
Awesome vidio
Thank you sir!!
Why didn't u video reconing the hcca I was looking forward to it
Oh but I did!!😊. I’m editing it as we speak. I will upload it as soon as it is done
Can you hear a shifted motor? Does it have a specific sound associated to it?
Usually the cone is completely seized
@@MrM_Full-Send okay. I’ve got a wicked rattling sound in my 15s and I know it’s not amplifier or box related. Just don’t know what it is exactly.
@@Kindalouddecaf what kind of sub
@@MrM_Full-Send sundown audio sa15
@@Kindalouddecaf rattle can be a lot of things. I’ve seen sa8 spider break at the triple ring which can cause a rattle sound. Shifted motors aren’t super common not yo say that it doesn’t happen
Where did you buy the coil at?
Lord of bass
Hey Mr. M, what’s the specs on your box.
The HCCA box? it was 3.37 cubes net per sub tuned to 35hz. Ports are 17.5”x3” or 52.5 sqin
Port is 28” long
Sweet what is the expected wattage from that coil?? Is it the same as the original HCCA coil? Asking because I just got that same 130487 coil that Im using for a 12. Nice job by the way.
Thank you!! I cannot say what the wattage handling will be, there are several factors that will determine the coil and motors ability to dissipate heat. Estimate/guess🤔 2-3k 🤷♂️
@@MrM_Full-Send Interesting since the original coil was a copper coil. Original specs show 2500 watts RMS and 10K max. I would assume its accurate. Now that your placing an aluminum coil I wonder how different it will perform. Would be awesome to have two side by side with one copper and one aluminum to test out the differences. I would guestimate with the aluminum coil about 3500RMS but it does really depend on the cooling and load.
@@subdynoman I like to rate conservatively 😂
