We usually crack the half boiled eggs like how we crack raw eggs. You can use the tea spoon or even gently knock it on the table or saucer.

新加坡的豆奶(豆漿),豆花也不錯。油條,鹹煎餅。
還有潮州的筍糕,米糕。meepok, meegia, pakcho mee etc.

How to crack the egg open....
Use the spoon side and knock onto the middle of the egg from the long edge...
Then once big crack, just pour the egg out like you crack raw egg...
The rest stuck at the egg shell can be scooped using the spoon
Mix and enjoy!

Chinatown Complex Food Centre IS the largest hawker centre in Singapore with over 200 stalls.
Bedok Chwee Kueh is a franchise establishment with 7 outlets across Singapore. The "couple" you saw at the stall are probably just workers.
The 1950's Coffee 五十年代 is good but regulars of that food centre usually go elsewhere. It is popular only to tourists and locals who are not familiar with the area. Next time do try Tai Hwa Coffee Stall 大華茶室 at #02-152.

炒蘿蔔糕是八十年代以後才出現的名字!過去叫炒粿,大陸潮汕地區叫炒糕粿!潮州話裡「粿」是可以取代主食的米製品,「糕」是小吃/點心!所以在潮州,這道食物可以當主食也可以當小吃!關鍵在配料,潮州炒糕粿像粵式炒河粉一樣,可以用各種配料和煮法!另外在閩南,粿指的是蒸的食物而糕是烘焙的!

“Chwee Gui” is the common name (hokkien) for this food. For local Cantonese, it is call “put zai go” but seldom used these days.
For local Cantonese, “put zai go” usually refers to sweet cake, instead of the savory ones in SG.

Also not forgetting some popular Malay breakfast like Longtong, Mee Rebus, Mee Siam, Nasi Lemak, Currypuff, Kueh Mueh. Another popular Chinese breakfast Kueh Chap. Go out and enjoy trying them out. 第一次嘅感覺特別新鮮
在台灣有碗粿這個跟水粿很像的東西放在碗蒸熟,像我的家鄉嘉義是白色的跟其他地方不一樣,口味的粿也有很多像蘿蔔,芋頭,木瓜等都很美味

东亚relocated to this new premises few years ago. Their original location is few shops down d Road. So this shop is considered renovated already. The old shop doesn't have aircon n is more 'up tub' (to b pronounced in cantonese). Is this d first time u eating kaya toast with butter cos u said neighbourhood coffeeshop don't serve kaya toast with butter.
Agree, the new location is actually quite new and tidy. I still saw the old name on the previous premise. My neighbourhood coffee shop doesn’t serve kaya toast with butter but I tried somewhere else. It was my first time to try coffee with butter though.

Katong 有一些老式的咖啡店的kaya toast 是非常的好吃的,面包的口感会跟这些一般的咖啡店不一样

所谓“海南咖啡”,并非凡是海南人就能冲泡出来的。新加坡有许多人一看到某种生意红火,就一窝蜂跑去做那种生意,想分一杯羹。现在海南街传统咖啡店的老板很多不是海南人,他们是“半路出家” 的生意人,听说还有投资开店的背后人物是中国人。

我很喜歡呀!太多選擇,今次未有機會介紹,下次再分享。是自從讀書時去馬來西亞旅行,吃過roti就愛上,還有一種是脆脆的,圓錐體
半生熟蛋很好吃,只是要小心沙氏门菌。大多数的咖啡厅都是用马来西亚的鸡蛋,因为本地鸡蛋比较贵。家里吃的话可以买新加坡本土鸡蛋。
下次可以试试看马来/娘惹糕点。。

Cheuh Kway 系福建话。虽然我是新加坡人,但系我都系广符人。我细过,屋企人 都讲 ‘买bu zhai 糕啦!’ 但系version 不一样,系必然的。因为不同地方 ,自然 同一样的食物也会不同。介绍你食 Lor Mee’ aka 卤面。你自己可以加料。Hawker Centre 有。多数要排队。

不知道新加坡有没有??在大马这里Kaya面包除了烧(烘脆外,有一些老餐室甚至还保留着传统的炭烧面包呢,带有炭烧味的面包特别美味).还可嘗試蒸面包(松软),最適合小朋友,老人家,當然年轻的也很喜欢.👍
在一些古老和传统的咖啡店里还是有炭燒面包的, 蒸面包很多咖啡店和咖啡摊都找得到.

In the old days coffee w/butter can be considered a luxury. Not many will like to pay for the butter as our earning was rather low relatively. Nowadays not many may be aware of drinking coffee with butter
@@gohal7485 Why coffee with butter is not that common these days? At least for new comers like me, I’m not aware of it before. Is it simply because it has been less well-known in the past or people are getting more health-conscious?
The butter oil will also act as coating up your teeth, prevent cigarette nicotine turning your teeth become black more quickly. Told by my senior, about 40 years ago. 😂😂😂

如果你不讨厌喝kopi-o的话,可以试下买一条油炸鬼沾来吃。这是我们这里的传统吃法,有点像台湾的豆浆+油条。记得一定要有甜味的Kopi-O, 有加奶的咖啡味道会不搭。
很難想像味道會是如何😆

告诉K妈一个公开的秘密。新加坡的小贩摊位都贴上 A、B 或 C 等级的标志牌,显示个别摊位的卫生程度,A 级最干净,B 级干净, C 级及格。通常,A 级的摊位价格最贵,C 级摊位价格最合理。但是论口感,是 C 级最好吃。

水粿其實新加坡老式的廣東人系叫它砵仔糕,所以當第一次去香港看到香港的砵仔糕時就驚呆了!
你和我聽到砵仔糕的反應一樣,我則在新加坡驚呆🤣🤣
水粿是潮州人的传统小食,在潮汕地区叫“ 咸水粿”,以便和 “ 水果 ” 有所区分。因为在潮汕话里,“ 水粿 ” 和 “ 水果 ” 发音完全一样,可是它们却是两种风马牛不相及的东西。就有如 “ 粿汁 ” ,也是潮汕人的传统小食。“ 粿汁” 里只有汤,哪来的“汁” ?实际上,“ 粿汁” 原本的写法是 “ 粿节 ” ,潮汕话里 “ 汁” 与 “ 节 ” 同音。因为该小食里的 “ 粿 ” 是切成一节一节的( 一片一片,潮汕人叫一节一节)。不知是那个假厉害的人把 “ 粿节 ” 写成 “ 粿汁 ” ,以讹传讹,结果人人都以为“粿汁” 是对的。

2. 巴剎(街市)係华语,广府人叫‘不室’(用广东话唸)

@@MsKarman is think not too worry. Foods products are generally safe for consuming in SG.... Govt very on the ball when comes to food stuff. It is just that you need to buy quality eggs.
I am reminding myself that I need to buy quality eggs when cooking half boiled eggs in HK....
