關於你提到擔心 有小朋友自殺或唔開心 尤其在學業上 坦白講 好多 城市包括香港都有 。。。這個問題。。 你記得 有好多年 香港開學有幾個學生 有跳樓或自殺事件。。。
的確係香港，新加坡讀書壓力不低。。 因為主要是精英社會 和文化， 也是因為父母太大的期望。。。 所以如果作為父母 自己放鬆啲， 俾小朋友一個快樂開心環境， 就一定不會有這個問題。
再補充。。 有好多家庭或小朋友有問題，無論在香港或新加坡，都不是一定因為 學業問題 應該是 家庭問題才是重點。。
有道理，始終父母與子女的溝通最重要，很好的提醒

Usually parents are more stressful when their child in primary school especially primary 4, 5 and 6 because of PSLE. Because this is the examination to decide what kind of secondary school your child will enter... but gov has removed the secondary school rankings and grades. This somehow will help in reducing the stress. Another reason also decide your child will be in Express stream 4 years (O) level, or Normal academy (N level then proceed to O level if your child do well in N level) or Normal Tech ( do not need to take n or o Level ) and enter ITE after 4 years.) My son didn't do well in PSLE, end up he went to 2 years ITE Nitec and 2 years higher Nitec. Now he is in polytechnic. Long way but less stressful

@@MsKarman the express/normal streams in secondary is a way for the govt to split and group the students in terms of learning abilities. Good and bad I suppose depends on how you see it. There are fast and slow learners. If all are grouped and taught at a same pace, it will be like wasting the time of the smarter ones as they can do so much more and not wait for the slower learners. The slower ones will feel even more discouraged or give up as they couldn't catch up and end up failing. Many scenarios to this streaming method. At the end of the day, as long as all turn out okay and useful to the society I guess reaching the goal is just a matter of time.

We do not have endless supply of water, unlike HK. We need to purchase our water from Malaysia. That’s why water is very precious in Singapore.

@@MsKarman 新加坡餐廳一杯水都有收錢同呢度要進口食水完全冇關係，畢竟入口嘅水，一千加侖不過坡紙一分錢 S$0.01。其實收錢純粹為咗要顧客買貴啲嘅飲品，賺多啲-----況且而家好多人鍾意飲水。

Stress depends on what is your perspective, to let them take a bit of stress so they learn how to handle or to let them face greater stress later during adulthood.
True as well, try to make a balance
SG education has few milestone that will determine the child future (or how long the education road). Basically Primary and seconday is the most stressful. Which will stress the parents then parents stress the children. Pressure come from parents expection ; peer pressure. Parents/relative non-stop compare your child VS your child schooling, what Extra course your learn, etc. parent will ask why so-N-so child get number 1. you only number 2, etc. The main stress is from parent, Parent should encounter the child not demoralised. Some parent did it w/o notice. Just need to remember - Not all child is the same.
I'm a laid back mom but I'm afraid of peer pressure too, especially there're so many uncertainties. As parents, we just want to prepare for the best in case anything happens. But you make a good point - not all children are the same.
新加坡人因為習慣了安全，前年小女出差去了倫敦，晚飯時跟幾位坡仔坡女在餐廳晚饍，他们也照樣把銀包放餐枱上。

Hi, I came across your channel accidentally. 😉 Actually, I'm from HK and have worked as a primary school teacher here in S'pore for 12 years. Studying in S'pore is pretty stressful actually. 😅
Hello 同鄉～ Have you also taught in Hong Kong before? What's your experience in comparing two places?
@@MsKarman Yes, I was a teacher there, otherwise I would not be able to teach in S'pore. ☺️ I would say, there is quite a lot of homework for the kids in HK. On top of that, some parents would enroll their kids in numerous enrichment classes. Here in S'pore, sending kids to tutoring centre is pretty common. Homework can be quite a lot starting in P.4. But P.1 and 2 kids are pretty relaxed as there are no exams for them, only different diagnostic assessments depends on the school.
Parents are stressful than children. The stresses are from them than school system. There are many options after basic education-10 years.
Parents’ mindset is important. But it looks like it’s easy to be influenced by peer pressure

I think hkg education system more stressful. Imagine parents and children having to interview in order to get into the school of their choice.😅
For those popular preschools in HK, yes, they need to have interviews. I was surprised when I found out I didn't need to do so in SG.
@@MsKarman that's because SG government tries hard to spread the message that all schools are equal and there are no "bad schools".
On the free drinking water at most places, most probably is due to the thought of it affecting their drink sales. Which is an item that they can earn high profit from. Majority will not order drinks if the restaurant provides free drinking water.

Our govt always say 'Every school is a good school'. According to another HK youtuber 大V妈， she says her children's homework in Spore is much much lesser compared to HK. Her children enjoy studying in Spore

据我所知：(中学)教育部会把在大学成绩最好的新教师派去neighbourhood schools, 很多时候名校老师只是一般而已。学生在PSLE 考高分进了名校，反而沒有很耐心教他们的老师
只有一个问题，就是neighbourhood school 有沒有童党问题，小孩会不会被欺负，(不过都是小孩子，不是真正的黑社会)
是為了統一每間學校的教育水平？

Hello Karmen, Can you comment on why Hong Kongers prefer to emigrate to UK, Canada or Australia when Singapore is so much nearer and culturally closer to HK. Is it the weather, cost of living, education, etc ? Thank you
Hong Kong is such fast-pace city. In general, when we think of moving abroad, at least for myself, I want to experience something different, in terms of living environment, culture and education system, especially for my kid. That's why Asian parents usually send their kids to study abroad like in UK or Canada, but not within Asia.
On the other hand, more importantly, many Hong Kongers move to UK/ Canada/ Australia recently are mainly because the entry barrier is much lower in those places. E.g. for UK - as long as Hong Kongers are BNO holders, they can move there after completing relatively simple procedures. For Canada - Hong Kongers can study there and apply for PR soon. However, for Singapore - it's difficult to get an entry permit unless a company is willing to sponsor you by applying for work pass. The salary requirement for EPs has just increased as well. The other ways like investment immigration or entrepreneur grant are even more challenging.
I think it’s because it’s not easy for any Tom Dick or Harry to get PR

也许对外地人来说，新加坡的生活费的确是比较高的。但是如果以新加坡人赚取的薪金在本地花费的话，只要不追求私人住宅和汽车，其实是不高的。

My children are in secondary schools, for myself, even though my child is encouraged to go express stream, I decided normal stream so less stress and study neighbourhood school less travel time. The other child is less academic inclined so is studying in a trade school. Different route for different child.

有所不知，新加坡政府旧建筑保育是‘’很妙的‘’！是反对人士不断反才有今天保留，谢谢反对人士。记得当时新加坡政府官员公开回应反对人士竟说出很妙的话：旧建筑无需保留，要拆就拆，再建新的建筑，没问题，因为新的建筑多年以后又也会变成旧建筑！“很妙的逻辑！”
像shophouse這類如果被拆卸，就太可惜了
