@@WanTap Not really. The truly terrible thing about being like this at 30 is that you're playing the role of the parents as well as Kevin, so you're just getting angrier and angrier at yourself while still procrastinating.
The genius of this is that they let him take his time with it and waited it out. I fully empathize with all parties. Fair and square. The good old days. Job done.
The most realistic part of this is the eventual point (probably about 4:30 in the morning) where he suddeny got the unexplainable urge to clean the car thoroughly
Being a teenager is really hard. Your whole body and mind goes through a massive transformation. You are hormonally imbalanced, confused, scared. Leaving the simplicity of childhood and entering into the complex and sometimes dark world of adulthood. Worried and perplexed about the opposite sex, and a host of many things.
daskew87 hahahahaha you don't know how easy you have it -wait till your an adult and have to pay bills and go to work jeeez I'd love to be a teenager again.
Harry Enfield has this spot on. My teenage son cant even manage to put a cup in the sink and he is impossible to have a conversation with even though he is intelligent. This is so accurate of what teenagers are like. They will do anything to get out of doing any work. God help anyone out there with young children. THIS REALLY IS WHAT THEY TURN INTO, BELEIVE ME!
Christopher Wallace Yeah well my son talks to me daily. We live in the same house so its hard not to. When I say 'talks' I mean more like a mumble now and again. And only when he wants something off me!
I had my moments of being like Kevin during my teenage years. And it makes me wonder what my future children would be like when they get to that age...
They cut out the beginning of the sketch where Kevin's Dad tries to get Kevin up by turning the stereo up, with "Going For Gold" by Shed Seven on the radio.
I was a teen when this was on, and I looked/dressed fairly similar to Kevin and had the same taste in Drum n Bass. I wasn't quite as twatty as him. My son is now a teenager and is pretty much exactly Kevin the teenager, with all the grunts and swinging arms (and with a lot more swear words).
Saw this when it aired. "You've achieved something in your life!" is still used as a suffix by my parents to comments relating to work/achievment, trivial or otherwise, usually ironically.
I was like this when I was that age, in fact i was so much like it my mum even called me Kevin! I can remember saying "that is is so unfair, I hate you!"
Lmao I had to do countless chores every day since I could hold a cloth in my hand. One mistake/if I skipped a chore, I’d get physically punished. No allowance, no internet/phone/electronics/TV until I was about 12 when I had to walk to school miles away (brick Nokia phone only, the rest came at age 14). Walked to school by myself since I was 6/7. Now I’m the laziest ass ever. Can’t even be bothered to buy/cook food to eat so I just have a sandwich to last me the whole day. Found it hard to be social in school since I hadn’t the slightest clue what everyone was talking about; had one friend who I could actually rely on. Now I sleep most of the day, go for an hours walk in the park, buy a snack then go home to watch a few movies before restarting the cycle. Money comes from babysitting (where I actually clean, eat, cook etc). Existence is very bland. I don’t even have social media because it’s boring and I’m not used to it. Gonna try applying to uni again probably. I know no ones gonna read this but it feels nice to talk about it. Not interested in therapy, waste of time and money. I don’t care about it anyway. I like to stay sober because addiction is expensive and it won’t give me long-lasting happiness. I remember my 18th birthday. No party, no friends/family. What a sad waste. I miss the times when I loved to give and share; to see people genuinely smile. My best friend died a couple of hours before 2018’s new year from cancer. Got the call just 20 minutes before the the fireworks. The doctors said the condition was getting better, and I actually believed them. That’s the sort of naivety that kills people and letting them live. That’s what made me stop being being so generous... when I got hurt by people taking advantage. I never asked for anything back. That doesn’t mean I deserved it. I can’t even cry anymore. It’s all just blank.
You need a hobby my girl. Something big that you have to work towards and achieve. Something satisfying. Bonus points if it makes you travel. My hobby is riding rollercoasters. It takes me all across the planet. It's expensive and I have to work first for my reward. I've met a lot of interesting people. I didn't discover my hobby until I was 29 and in intensive chemotherapy after my second cancer operation.
Felice Graziano this is a good tip. If you have something to work for or to do, you’ll feel like you have a purpose, not for others but for you. It can be simple as reading or something complex like DIY stuff and all. While I don’t like how the first comment said what they said, she has a good point. Your past can’t control your future and it’s up to you on wether you decide to not be lazy. It won’t be easy, it may take a long time, but get there, because once you’re there, you’ll feel alive. One more thing, once you’re rolling, try to keep the momentum as you can quickly go back to zero and work yourself all over again. You don’t need a therapist exactly, you just need you to get you up. I hope this helps and you get better. Peace.

Maybe your dealing with surpressed emotions you don't know how to face or trauma and it's manifesting in this apathy and lack of drive . You are not alone and lots of people suffer from this and what you describe .But the good news is generally there is help out there . You are not lazy ,lazy is different. You sound like you just need a bit of help and a plan . Identify what it is you don't like ,what you think you would like . It also sounds like your suffering from disossiation . Sometimes to protect us we zone out ,numb but after a while we stay in that as auto pilot.its safe there .but if you can recognise it for what it is . You can set aside even one day out of seven to do something for yourself. Ring a line speak to a stranger. Buy something nice .organise a drawer . Start slow and build up . Start with you and your confidence and then build up to others .
