To this day, all these years later, I cannot look at Liam Gallagher without seeing Kathy Burke. She is a fantastic actress.
I just realized Perry is played by Kathy Burke whom also plays Nan's daughter lol.
Sings better, too.

Yay!

Yes
Look at the drinks they're drinking, perfect haha 😄 😆 👍
I live in Manchester and I can confirm we are all exactly like that
Yesss
+Brandon Lee Sexy bastards.
+Brandon Lee .I live in north Manchester and we talk like that too..
It's funnier of you were a teenager back then. Most of the boys in school were like Perry - trying their best to be like their idol, Liam Gallagher!
I have to admit, I grew my hair, dressed kind of like that. And also attempted the occasional northern accent to see if I could convince people I was from Lancashire!
If you were 15 in the mid 1990s, you wanted to be Liam Gallagher. It was a bit like a cult. The cult of Oasis!
Kathy Burke is one of the most underrated actresses we have. Everything she does it brilliant.
Absolutely, couldn’t agree with you more. 😊
She was incredible in Nil By Mouth.. be warned though, not an easy watch
@anorakus8272 Yes Nil by mouth is a gritty film and pulls no punches. Both Kathy and Ray Winstone were superb.
She's not underrated. I don't hear of anyone talking about her without them saying how excellent she is.
@@snotwurfit It's the law. Every person, thing, or band, is "underrated" in YT comments. I once called The Beatles underrated as a jest and no-one batted an eyelid.
Viz once described the ‘Manc Walk’ as “a pissed chimp in a nappy full of porridge”. Painfully accurate in this case.
Oh that made me laugh so hard! 😆
i think thats the first time ive seen Viz mentioned on a youtube comments
I am 🇺🇲 and even that has me 😆😆😆

Drinking a bottle of Oasis. xD
ES_Blofeld well spotted!
Neil Jerzynek when you could get oasis in glass bottles :)
TheDaily Shave Never heard of them.
Zero Ninety they are only British I think
Oasis is a English band from Manchester.
Quality.. Never gets old this ha ha. Produced in a time when we all sat around and watched TV as a family, then discussed it next day at school or work. Great times!
So true - I really miss those times.
This is my favourite sketch; "There's us and there's wankers"
"Gonna beat up a couple of cockney bastards"
Kathy Burke is a brilliant actress, this is her best character
I got to say I was shocked when I realised Perry was played by a girl for the first time 😂
AWESOME
She is brilliant
Also great in the slobs and "Gimme Gimme Gimme".
Working more behind the camera these days.
I heard her Desert Island Discs show from a few years ago and she had one hell of an upbringing. Was her older brother who became her "father-figure", who pushed her & supported her.
If anyone deserved a fortunate break in life, it's Kathy..
As a comedy actor, there's nobody as good as her, save for Victoria Wood, Julie Walters or Caroline Aherne. Sadly only one of that trio is still with us....
Kevin's attempt at the accent though
Harry Potter For life he ends up sounding half like a yorkshire, bit like irish almost and mostly sounding like a farmer. honestly and the way he walks too
Rob so true, and this is coming from someone who has a Manchester accent. Makes me laugh though x
Its when he starts the walk that gets me!
Perry's is a bot more 'sniff' spot on....
SHORE TED
This NEVER fails to make me laugh
Kathy Burke is an absolute genius
Liam must have been wetting himself when he saw it 🤣🤣🤣
Or seething. He takes himself pretty seriously. He's a prick.
Doubt it, he's a complete tool
Who’s Liam ?
@@animeguygaming4803 - Liam Gallagher from Oasis.
@@billybobby7607 He found it hilarious you clown. Go back to listening to your middle class boring shit ya speck.
Kathy's accent was perfect, even better when she dropped it to speak to Mrs P, and then Harry's attempt at it was the icing on the cake.
as a mancunian this is 100% accurate
amyisaway i know. Its complete genius. Also i think Perry has a case of Gallagher Disease.
amyisaway same lol he Kevin sounds more Scottish tho
He wasn't meant to sound Mancunian, he was meant to sound bad trying to talk that way.
amyisaway, what does Perry say when he asks "Who was Manchester?" at 17 seconds?
Rodolfo Roger "yeah, you know, result, sorted, top, mad for it"
The Stone Roses just did four concerts in Manchester
EVERYONE WAS LITERALLY LIKE THIS
this comment made me laugh, me and two mates went to the Wednesday gig and said exactly the same.
Chris Pritchard yep we all got afghan coats and whippets aswell and all drink Boddington
Brandon Lee never seen so many bucket hats
I was in Manchester visiting friends
Literally everyone was wearing a bucket hat
Every market stall was selling bucket hats
Drinks were served in bucket hats
It's funny cos it's true.
Never ever will get old. God I miss comedy like this. Takes me back to my youth

I hated watching it.
Or should I say , I hated Ray Winstone's character 😥
But yes, Kathy Burke is a very talented actress , not just in comedy.

she might be funny but i get the feeling shes a nightmare in real life. Watch her in 'Travel Man: 48 hours in Barcelona'.... she wouldnt fly or go in the cable car. Richard Ayoade ended up doing most things on his own.
"Yes thank you Mrs Patterson." Classic. Lol.
It's easy to forget just how big Oasis were when they emerged in the mid-90s but this sums it up.
This clip always gets used in documentaries relating to British popular culture in the 90s.

Oasis is still about today.... summer fruits pisses all over orange
😂 😂 😂 I just moved to Scotland..... Oasis are bigger up here than they were in the 90s 😂😂😂
Yeah and they were shit then and they are shit now "oor mother".
God.... the 90s were such a shit decade
I am an American and wasn't born yet, but I love oasis and stone roses the whole Manchester scene. How big was oasis and was it a working-class thing? Or we're there kids in the home counties talking with a a northern accent?

YE DONT NO NOWT!!!
Us ull hav some bread and dripping arr our tea!! Used to av that as a kid in da south !! Along with aa suuugar sarni !! Those were tha days wit ma and pa and 3 sis and brov
Its double hilarious how Kevin starts in with a Yorkshire accent instead of Manchester.
+Fiona Beswick that isn't an accent of any place ever
bentnob I know, right, but its sort of approximating Yorkshire. I am a Manc myself so this video kills me...Manchester really did use to be full of those cynical I-hate-everything types....dont know if it still is.
+Fiona Beswick clearly the point of the vid propa flew over ya head u muppet clearly u aint a manc
Fiona Beswick 'Manchester really did use to be full of those cynical I-hate-everything types' this is takin the piss out of the amount of people who started tryna talk and act like mancs after oasis came out cause it actually happened any oasis gig was full of perrys who wernt even mancs givin it r kid n all that
Shaun Maguire I know that, Jesus! I remember it very well. The town was full of Southerners trying to be Mancs. John Peel even mentioned it on his show: every caller was trying to say they were Mancs. But what is so funny about this, is how Kevin gets it wrong. Perry does a fairly good Manc accent....but Kevin sounds like Yorkshire.
Kevin is getting it wrong, thats the whole joke. Bad enough to try and be a Manc, but to end up sounding like a shepherd on the Yorkshire Moors is hilarious.
As someone from Manchester I can say that's pretty spot on
yeah, me too. Really is like that. I havent lived there for twenty years now and whenever I hear the hometown accent I am struck by how deadpan and ironic it sounds. Always sounds like Mancs are looking down on everyone else. Always that slightly snarky tone. I tell you, the Manny sense of humour doesnt travel either. Non-Mancs just dont get it, they think you're serious. Except Scousers, they get it. Outside of England, Mancs and Scousers get on just fine.
***** I am from Gatley, just next door to wythenshawe..my gran was from there. My mum was very keen I would not grow up to talk like them, but to have a 'nice'voice
***** Last time I tried this comment I got a lot of abuse. Its my view that England is very snobby. And accent matters. Its no use to deny this: it does. You may have people with regional accents on TV now but if you want to get on, you have to learn to do a 'nice voice'. Now I stress, I am not the following, these are some things I got called "stuck-up; stuck-up fool; trying to be the artbiter of public taste; irrelevant and refusing to grow old gracefully; snob having tea with the queen"..it went on and on. Not one of the abusers engaged me in the debate. They just handed out these nasty insults.
But I realised: they thought I myself speak RP, speak 'proper' and was looking down on THEM! Well, I dont. I have a regional accent myself. But I do know how to do a 'nice voice' when I need to.
***** I am sure you know what I mean. In the corridors of power, where real power resides, its still about accent. Look at all those media people who call working class people, people who have seen the factories that used to sustain their communities destroyed, they get called 'chavs' and 'lazy' and 'scroungers'..this while the middle class send their kids to private school, have private health and every opportunity..
I am old enough to remember when working people mattered and when everyone shared. Wealthy people used to live on council estates, did you know that? It was truly diverse. Right-to-buy ended that! so under Thatcher, all of a sudden, 4 million unemployed, crime rates skyrocket, homeless all over..and yet, what do you know? Its all their own fault! Mrs Thatcher said so. Suddenly, hard-working ppl had become lazy and feckless. Nothing to do with the ruin of their communities and the promotion of dog-eat-dog capitalism. It was all their own fault.
And now, the middle-class own the media and government. You get nobody from the workers there anymore. Impossible. You need connections and you need money to make it. All these snobby journalists..when a few kids riot, to make themselves heard..they are calling for them to be jailed..while bankers go scot-free...will anyone from HSBC be charged for hiding tax money?
You need a 'good accent'. Got to have it. speak like a chav and you are doomed to a decaying estate. Well, maybe not, but you will never get on.
***** hmm...I dont know. Maybe things have changed. But I am just reading a book called Chavs, about how the working class has been demonized in the UK and accent is a big part of this. A Manchester twang is one thing, a regional accent can be called charming, but it still is not the same as a middle-class accent.
If you were in very serious trouble and went to a lawyer, would you pick the one who spoke with a scouse..no, wait...Geordie accent.. or one who had a really posh Eton-and-Harrow..I hate to say it..but all other things being equal (cases won, reputation, etc) I'd go for the toff. How about you? Really, honestly?
That “Thank youuuuu” makes me lose it 😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah like super polite, then straight after he changes back to the Manchester accent and says “I really want to shag your mum” 😂😂😂
I'd love to have seen Liam Gallagher's face when he saw Kathy walk in like that.

Kick him out then, he shouldn't be living with his parents at 45 years old .........

Ha ha (from an adult son).
Kevin at first sounds like he’s from Somerset and at the end he’s full Yorkshire 🤣
Bit of Ulster at the very end.
Somerset 100 lol
Ulster via Jamaica

I always appreciated the fact Harry could do a far better northern impression, but he's doing the sort of impression the character Kevin would come up with.

This was so funny, it reminded me of one of my mates, when we were in our early 20s, he got sent down a few times and would end up in winson green in Birmingham, he'd come out after serving like 6 months with a thick Birmingham accent lol...after about a week it would have miraculously disappeared lol
When Kevin has a go at the accent and sounds like Compo out of 'Last of the Summer Wine'. 😂🎉
A lot of kids at school did turn into Liam Gallagher, seemingly overnight, in 1994😂 I was one of them. Grew my hair, started wearing the Oasis clothes etc. He was just the coolest guy back then.
I'm from Manchester and this is HILARIOUS! 😂
It's that walk, and Harry Enfield is brilliant in the way he just doesn't get it. The walk, the talk, everything is off key. Best sketch ever, and I'm not a Manc but a Salfordian.
Same I'm a salfordian
i wouldnt brag about that..
"Not a Manc but a Salfordian" is like saying "I'm not from London, I'm from Westminster"
As a Mancunian that is blasphemy; equating us to dirty Salfordians. Totally different breed pal apples and oranges

Meet a Wythie Choo Choo Train
I was at university in the mid 90's when Oasis were at their peak of popularity on the student scene. At one party there was a student there trying to look and behave like one of the Gallagher brothers. One of my friends said to him, "I like your hair" and he replied "I know, don't you just wish you were ME!" What a knob.
But He isn't still talking about YOU.
