    Thanks for explaining how to do this I went on Facebook and asked how to calibrate my hi hat and all I got was by some other kind so I appreciate the demonstration 😎

    Have you seen the posts on the alesis forum about the strike kit hi hats? Many of us including me found that the REAL problem with the hi hat was a hardware problem. A very simple and cheap fix. The spring that holds the top cymbal was manufactured too short. This means that even when your pedal is fully depressed your spring isn't making contact with the cymbal and keeping the controller seated. The controller thinks the cymbal is moving but its actually the controller that is moving. I have found that by simply taking a felt washer that is usually used to cradle the lower cymbal and putting one of those on top of your spring assembly gives it the perfect thickness and it makes the hi hat 100% usable. In fact even enjoyable. Mine was horrible. It would always think it was partially open and was very erratic. All I did was I pulled the top cymbal, placed the washer, put the top cymbal back on letting it rest directly on the spring and lock it down. You should be good to go then man. And from that point all your trigger settings can be adjusted to whatever you want and they should work properly. I know it sounds too good to be true. If you don't have a spare of those you can use a washer from one of your wing nuts. Just note it will sit higher than you would want. But it will still work to test it out and if you find it solves your issue you can get a thinner one. Try it. I promise you will be pleased.

      Tonight I just took the spring out all together and it improved right away.

      I'm not sure that's a real fix...I only say that because I think people put the spring in upside down. The big plastic part on the end of the spring should be facing down. I remember seeing somewhere (either in the manual, or online) to make sure you put the spring in the right way.

      Take a look again. The plastic spring topper is most certainly NOT supposed to be placed on the bottom. As taken directly from the Hi hat set up instructions Item 3. Make sure the spring that rests on the bottom cymbal has the black "stopper" on the top side, closer to the top cymbal and not down inside the cymbal. If this 'Stopper' is upside down inside of the bottom cymbal, it will not function properly...... if yours is on the bottom of the spring, it could most definitely be a cause for concern. And if its facing the right way then the advice I gave you could be valid too. Its helped a ton of people. And many those who claim it didn't failed to do the automatic hi hat calibration.

      correct, I had my details backwards...I just remember seeing something about making sure the spring was in the right way. I have mine installed the right way, and haven't had any major hi-hat problems. the only thing I don't like is the edge sensor is only on one side so sometimes I get the bell sound.

      Any chance you can post some pictures of what you have done? I'm a bit new to this so not entirely sure what you mean. I will say that in the instructions is says get rid of the big felt washer that comes with most stand and let the control unit rest on the bare metal. Is that the felt ring you are referring too?

    I'd like to buy this kit, I'm interested in seeing a video of splitting the two high toms and using add on symbals by using there rims for these cymbals. Any thoughts?

    • @cleverdood
      @cleverdood  6 років тому

      that will work. All of the pads are dual-zone which means you can config a sound for the mesh head and the rims so what you want to do will work. I use the rim of my 8" tom as a splash.

    So I know now I did not get the update installed completely. When I go to pedal it does not show the hi hat reset or the foot pedal. I show trigger os V1.3 and dsp os v 1.2.

    Can you post your hihat settings? Hard to see on the video. Your hat trigger pedal sounds good, did you have to spend a long fudging with it to get it to sound like that?

      New Video Hi-Hat Setting Video ua-cam.com/video/02zlulGXIV8/v-deo.html ..... I am using 1.2 Hi-Hats coming through the Aux. This is what is sounds like played to #ToolVicarious and two other tunes. What I have found is not only does the Alesis logo must sit at a 12 O'clock position pointed away from you, "THE BOTTOM PLATE" the hole your wires are coming through must sit between the 2 and 3 O'clock position faced up. You can also turn clockwise or counterclockwise until the triggers are reading itself with accuracy along that position. If you have or order a second module, you must do a factory reset to erase 1.3 components stored on the top Hi-Hat.

    I just bought this kit. I want to mount the hi hat on the rack and use the Alesis RealHat pedal. Anyone know a good rack mount stand/arm to where I can still use the upper hardware that came with the kit (because of the lock nut)?

    • @cleverdood
      @cleverdood  3 роки тому

      I think if you google "remote hi hat stand" you'll find something. Some players I've seen have a second hi hat mounted by their ride cymbal and there's a cable that connects the pedal to the mechanism.

    Hello. the hi hat is double-zone? as the roland VH-10?

    • @cleverdood
      @cleverdood  6 років тому

      yes. there are triggers for the edge and bow. I find that hitting the edge sometimes triggers the bow anyway so I end up using the same sound bank on both.
