He did say it would be the only one in the world and theres a FV4005 at Bovington Tank museum. So it could also be a Conway or something along those lines
I've only just started going through your videos and enjoying ever minute of it, I'm an old tank driver, started on Conq's the went onto cents, that cent reving up brings back loads of memories, thanks
there is finally a chance that the 4005 would be restored, and it makes me tremendously happy as that thing has memed its way into my life. if there was any chance for me to have even taken a part in this, i would've done it without question.
This is a Priceless demonstration of trying to get age-old tank running and going through one step at a time and it's really cool your demonstration on the mag and how that was able to work so acutely and efficiently. I'm a Automotive mechanic and this is way more than just a will it start!!! All the best from Canada
agreed, but i think whistlin diesel does know his stuff, bc lets not forget tht fr the first few years of hid chanel all the work he did on his cars/trucks were done in a garagewith very limited tools, however i do örefer whistlindiesel fr the lols
So cool to see this transition centurion to chieftain tank fired up even if the 27L lump needs attention , well done 👏 always look forward to a new video😊
The little Centy that could... The anticipation of it firing & coming back to life made me wonder if you'd titled this one as a teaser... but no... It... is... ALIIIIIIIVE... 👻
This is my favourite channel now joe. Loving this regular content. And I’m now getting all sort of tank content offered to me from armourgedon and tanks a lot😂
Impressed by the determined, and methodical approach to get this old girl running. Lovely piece of military vehicle history, as you say unique. Thank god for the Foden, nothing seems to defeat them, such a shame that as a company they are no more. I sometimes wonder who has the most fun, us watching or you guys , probably the latter!
Awesome video, I like how much detail your starting to go into now, I think a head or chest mounted go pro would suit this style really well and you can film with less cuts and keep your hands free, a bit like diesel Creek or Marty T
@@MrHewes Nah, chest cams never point where you want them to, you can never be sure what's in frame so you might miss sequences, you can't simply move them closer to things for a closeup, etc. They take away all the spontaneity of recording because you're always thinking about the bloody chestcam. They can work with really wide angle lenses and enough pixels but you'll spend many hours zooming and panning in your editor afterwards.
I have just started to watch you’re videos and found you to be an amazing mechanic! Thank you very much for the tutorials on Tanks and armor. You and you’re staff are extremely gifted!
Excruciatingly wonderful stuff as usual. I’m eagerly awaiting the Best of Ted compilation too! The chaps have more patience than the NHS to get these wonderful old machines back to working order
Just found your channel last week and have been binging whenever I've got a moment, good to have found the beginning of the Shitbarn chronicles, I can't wait to see the final result tearing around Bonvington.
"ahh, this nice man is going to get me started, i haven't run for 50yrs, it will be nice ticking over, till i get the hang of a bit revs" "oh, hold on, why has he set the throttle to max???" "WAAAAHHHH"
You have so much knowledge you must have been a tank mechanic in another life love your videos you have a great team of lads that help you Regards Steve UK London
I love this channel, your knowledge of these machines is amazing, it is great to see machines which can actually be fixed unlike modern rubbish. Watch that asbestos wrap on the exhaust!
For a young chap you know so much about the tank engine with so many ideas to get things working I have a 1945 fordson tractor and will overhaul the mag the same way you just did and see if I can get it to spark again
it wasn't the 120mm chieftain gun test bed. it was the NATO 140mm gun upgrade test bed (in response to the soviet FST1 tank which later became the T14 armata)
I remember seeing a platform like this at a tank barrel proving ground what i mean is AS90 barrels were proofed for service on platforms like this big charge in it park it up n let go by remote the ideea being if the barrel goes boom its above the tank chassis nice though keep it up lads
Coming on we’ll….. the heat off that exhaust…..you could get a decent brew going there pop the kettle on……. Yes I did know the tankies had there own brewing machine on board…..do you have one of those?😎👌🏼
Just a thaught, you have driven enough tanks and fighting vehicles up to now. Would you do a video to tell or show us what it’s like to drive a tank. It looks so claustrophobic with the hatches open. I would love to see what it’s like when a tank is buttoned up for fighting.
Glad to see it running. Would it be a better investment to keep it as a pre production test piece and restore it like that rather than modify it? I assume there is someone who would want it as a piece of Centurion history or is there no market for that?
Ian i might have a turret of my Vickers for sale. well last time i bought you t55 hull and put my turret on it. maybe this time you could put this turret on a cent
0:52 that picture of a barn tank is the FV4005 damn if you will pull that off much respect to you!
Definitely a shit barn👍👍
i was just thinking where are they gonna find a 183mm?...... then i thought... oh they'll find one.....
WoT sponsors?
Doesn't look like the Stage 1 mount though I thought? They did use a Mk3 chassis to test a few other guns I think
He did say it would be the only one in the world and theres a FV4005 at Bovington Tank museum. So it could also be a Conway or something along those lines
This has to be the most interesting chanal on here . Never stop .
Anyone else notice how Joe seems to look more and more like Guy Martin every video🤣
Guy and Joe working together would be chaos, and I'm all for it
And Guy Martin is looking more like Ted every video.
Joe is a mixture of Guy Martin & Colin Furze!
And Adam looks like a 12 year old Richard Hammond
I thought I was the only one thinking that lol
Can't get enough of these videos .... the more detail the better lol..... great work !!!!!
agreed mate brilliant vids
I've only just started going through your videos and enjoying ever minute of it, I'm an old tank driver, started on Conq's the went onto cents, that cent reving up brings back loads of memories, thanks
I really want to have a go in a mighty Conq! Thanks for watching!
there is finally a chance that the 4005 would be restored, and it makes me tremendously happy as that thing has memed its way into my life. if there was any chance for me to have even taken a part in this, i would've done it without question.
I’d watch it just for the times the Foden is shown working. Great channel.

All the best from Canada
Love watching you guys resurrecting these tanks. You are sooo much better than Whistling Diesel, who has too much money and not enough sense!
agreed, but i think whistlin diesel does know his stuff, bc lets not forget tht fr the first few years of hid chanel all the work he did on his cars/trucks were done in a garagewith very limited tools, however i do örefer whistlindiesel fr the lols

Amazing understanding of how to start an old motor, thank you for sharing
Blimey! The ol girl didn’t want to budge over but who better than you lot to turn her into a proper beast
This is my favourite channel now joe. Loving this regular content. And I’m now getting all sort of tank content offered to me from armourgedon and tanks a lot😂
See if you can sell him a spindle moulder. Apparently you have a few of them 😂
You've gotta love a Rolls Royce Meteor. It's just the rules.

Very interesting job as you manage to start this engine after some "encouragement" but you will manage to fix it! Great job as always 👍 👌 👍
My Dad would have loved this. He worked on the Mk III prototype just after the war. He fabricated the return roller and assembled the running gear.
Outstanding result ! And a great project...
Ive become addicted to these videos. Why isnt this on telly? Really entertaining and interesting.
Awesome video, I like how much detail your starting to go into now, I think a head or chest mounted go pro would suit this style really well and you can film with less cuts and keep your hands free, a bit like diesel Creek or Marty T
Il get one and try it

Congrats Joe and crew on finally gotten the Centurion MK3 running again.. cool track equipment.
That looks like it's gonna be a hell of a restoration process.
Great show 👏 Hampshire 🇬🇧
First time I have left a comment. I think your videos are the best I can't get enough. Thank you for them.
Great job getting the old beast running.
Look forward to every new video you guys put up. Great content keep it coming
Love this stuff! Another fantastic video Joe! Ted is still our lord and savior
I have just started to watch you’re videos and found you to be an amazing mechanic! Thank you very much for the tutorials on Tanks and armor. You and you’re staff are extremely gifted!
Got to be chuffed with this result, will be interesting to see what you have got up your sleeve! 😊
Excruciatingly wonderful stuff as usual. I’m eagerly awaiting the Best of Ted compilation too!

well done. you succeeded where many others failed !
Als ive got is a 110 defender a sankey trailer n an FQ330 EVO, and a rusting rangerover...
I need a Foden in my life...ace!
Good to see the advanced tool kit deployed at 1:23 The final pair of components that augment gaffer tape and WD40 to make the full kit
"ahh, this nice man is going to get me started, i haven't run for 50yrs, it will be nice ticking over, till i get the hang of a bit revs"
"oh, hold on, why has he set the throttle to max???"
"WAAAAHHHH"
Send it!
10:20 made me giggle, nice edit!
Whatever Colin Furze does with a Cent chassis is just going to be bloody awesome
You have so much knowledge you must have been a tank mechanic in another life love your videos you have a great team of lads that help you

Great to see her running again 💨💨💨Tanks alot 👌
Totally awesome, Ive never seen a tank being bump started before. I new a girl that could do that!! Looking forward to your next vid. Thanks
Joe the Tank Genius! Well done on getting her started!
Love the "Stand Clear When Engine tarts" :)
Great work Joe, you know your stuff.
I love this channel, your knowledge of these machines is amazing, it is great to see machines which can actually be fixed unlike modern rubbish. Watch that asbestos wrap on the exhaust!
I wasn’t planning on snorting it don’t worry lol
I'm glad you did the mags first. In my mind, looking for a big spark while being soaked up to the chin in fuel did present some worried moments!! ;-)
For a young chap you know so much about the tank engine with so many ideas to get things working I have a 1945 fordson tractor and will overhaul the mag the same way you just did and see if I can get it to spark again
Now this is your best sort of video . Wicked .
well done chap - top notch work
Learned some neat tricks there. Thanks!
Learn more in these videos about mechanics than at school and it's more fun
Excellent work and well done. Nice whe a plan works!!
Really enjoyed the video, impressed with the great work you all do.
It’s alive well done joe 👍👍👍
Always waiting for the next vid asa great channel👍😉💯
it wasn't the 120mm chieftain gun test bed. it was the NATO 140mm gun upgrade test bed (in response to the soviet FST1 tank which later became the T14 armata)
Love Your vidios bros my fav tank is a recovery Chieftain 👑👑👑👑👑
Would be good fun if you and Colin Furze could get his new weightless contraption on there and people could have a go flying around.
Love the water cooled batteries 😂
Ain’t they mint like a Tesla!
Great stuff mate, keep up your stuff.
Another really interesting video Joe, thanks for taking so much trouble.
I remember seeing a platform like this at a tank barrel proving ground what i mean is AS90 barrels were proofed for service on platforms like this big charge in it park it up n let go by remote the ideea being if the barrel goes boom its above the tank chassis nice though keep it up lads
Excellent work once again guys!!
Amazing. Nicely done.
Haven’t even seen it yet but I know it will be brilliant and interesting. Keep it up. 👍
You are a very smart young man. I BET YOU KNOW MORE ABOUT TANKS THAN ANY MILITARY TANK MECHANIC
brilliant vid as usual .... trans am colours with 70s flames down the sides
WELL DONE JUST A LITTLE ADJUSTMENT AND A CLEAN UP 😊 .
EX REME THIS IS FASCINATING!! KEEP PRODUCING PLEASE!!
I thought I had seen a photo of this vehicle with a 140mm gun that never saw service.
Cannot wait. But will as night in au.
Well done, very impressive 👏!
Another good video!
Coming on we’ll….. the heat off that exhaust…..you could get a decent brew going there pop the kettle on……. Yes I did know the tankies had there own brewing machine on board…..do you have one of those?😎👌🏼

I would love to see what it’s like when a tank is buttoned up for fighting.
Il do a video showing just this very soon
Got it to pop your on your way, very nice
Very enjoyable video. My fave UA-cam channel. 👍
Glad to see it running. Would it be a better investment to keep it as a pre production test piece and restore it like that rather than modify it? I assume there is someone who would want it as a piece of Centurion history or is there no market for that?
My guess is that the market for a baseline centurion is higher than a prototype
Extraudinary. Thant you!
Great video 😊
Well done that man!
@10:22 what’s with Mona Lisa and the ????. 👍🏴
I stumbled my words said “painting” instead of Pointing 🤣
Yeah she lives. Frankenstein's daughter lives.👍👍👍😁
Your plans must be a self proppelled tracked BBQ for shows? Or wine bar (Fitter Matt) 😂
"Yeah well that learnt that" makes me feel so proud to be a brit
i love watching other people work
great program mates
teds is the real star of the channel 😉 boys dont grow up there toys just get bigger 😁
Keeeeep ummmm coming!!!!!
Loving these videos
Those engines must be tough as hell
This has to be the BEST "will it run" video on UA-cam. If you need to start a 60 year old derelict British tank, Joe Hewes is your man! 😉
Not to mention the parts on this thing could be ww2 vintage
Back to the good old analog days
Look good with a 183 hanging off it!
Now that was a result...yep, it's all knackered but it all sort of works.
Still think you'd be better off setting alight though. 😎
Ian i might have a turret of my Vickers for sale. well last time i bought you t55 hull and put my turret on it. maybe this time you could put this turret on a cent
Now that’s what I call a result
Rolls Royce engine - still goin' strong!
Thanks ❤
Another great video guys
