In order to avoid destroying the pavement on the city streets of St. Petersburg, the steel off-road tracks of the T-54/55 were replaced with the rubber-shoed tracks from a British Chieftain tank. It was AT55 used in golden eye.. Only the tracks from a chieftain was used.. No chieftain was used. Come on guys.
@@dannygand153 I seem to remember in an earlier episode they showed a clip from Goldeneye - this was parked in the background as the T tank drove by - they aren't suggesting this is the star tank in the movie, but it was in it!
Honestly, having an entire tank workshop be a bunch of low brick buildings in the middle of the English countryside is the most properly British thing I've ever seen. And it's glorious. And as unreliable as the L60 is, it has a fantastic sound to it.
Can you imagine how Ivan is working atm? They have so many, very poorly stored tanks,in much colder conditions. Judging by what I’ve seen on certain yt channels that look at sat pics, they’ve almost depleted the stores too. Fair play to the mechanics but I don’t envy the poor chaps using them in anger. Imagine clunking, smoking & rattling over a hill in a ropey T72 that’s been sat in a field for 20years, to be faced by a couple of Abrams. You’d want to just stick it in reverse and get out of there but that’s not even an option for a healthy t72 😂
I love your optimism, will be driving by 11. Meanwhile, two in the morning comes round just to find a gearbox problem. Typical for a grind job when it “has to” happen. I can’t wait for part two. That’s some nice work guys, saving another piece of history.
Another great video! After looking at Jacks T’shirt, I asked my 90 year old Mum, and she confirmed that she had been top of Jacks to do list! She has requested proper lubrication next time as the swarfega caused a rash……
WOW ! You three fella’s Worked YOUR ARSES OFF !! 14 hours with only one Pringle Break too ! I don’t know how you did that without an energy drink(s) either. Cheers From California 😎
Got to take my hat off to you. This from someone who is struggling to justify the cost of restoring my 52 year old Suzuki GT750 - I can't imagine how much all this costs! Great dedication.
Just finished work and come home to a new Mr Hewes video. Nice. (05:55, the boss arrives to keep an eye on progress). Stunning job guys, good to see her actually move after all your graft.
I love the approach, 29 years, stood in the rain, give us a week, …but we pulled our spare engine pack and a spare dash board….out of stores….. love it…
That looked like a very long day. You're getting good at putting Chieftains back together now. Jack is going to have to take back what he said about not being a mechanic at this rate. Thanks for the Video!!
To be fair, a lot of L60s fitted to active chiefies in the 70/80s turned out be be on a temporary basis. The good old days as a REME A mech. One new pack lasted one mile.
I much preferred the Brosnan Bond than Daniel Craig's one, showing my age here but I grew up with Roger Moore as Bond, and the Spy Who Loved Me my favourite Bond film of them all, Great vid Mr Joe, 👍👍👍👍👍
I too grew up with Roger Moore as Bond but I never liked the campiness and clownish path that they went down with him and and Pierce Brosnan. Goldeneye was great but each one got worse till Die Another Day just about killed Bond with its stupid gimmicks and storyline.
I live in the US but originally from Northumberland. My dad used to take us to all kinds shows and Faires all over the British Isles. I remember going to Market Harborough when I was bout 10 years old! That'd be 1969. There were no tanks back then :)
Fantastic job dos me good to see supervisor ted at work, always one of my favorite type of video chock-full full of information 😅 please keep them coming 😅.
That was a really great effort. It is a good feeling when you work together with a good team that you know well and then achieve against the odds. There is no stopping you guys and girls.
Brilliant video today fellas. At least the sun was shining for you while working on that beast. Looking forward to the next one. Tanks alot. I know. "Cheesy"
Hats off to the pair of you for all the painstakingly hard work you did just to get the thing started, let alone moving under her own power. Bloody good day and a bits, hard work proving you do know what you're doing, despite the very small minority out there in YT land. I'd like to see anyone else do the job these lads do, in as short a time with all the complications of sorting out the wiring of the dash and all connectors etc !!! Jack and Joe, that was an incredible feat of keeping yourself motivated, despite the additional complications. Just wish I could get to the show next weekend, but will never be able to get there, despite desperation factor of 10/10. Still, hope you have a good one and all involved, enjoy themselves, as they did at the last show. As always, Ted did the behind the scenes hard work to perfection. For that Ted, you should get a nice big juicy bone.
Great Video chaps glad to see that you won the battle. Looking forward to the next episode. Poor old Dad working while the boys played. I know what that feels like!
Been waiting for a good Mr hewes video for a while, nice to see the foden RC controlled and that Ted is supervising ( doing a good job) Jack still looks like a T-rex but we do love his mum !

What a hell of a long day Muckers you got it running and almost moving so we'll wait for the next video for the real move ,But well done as it was, Later Muckers
Love watching the auld beast doing her night work That reminded me of using foden in the middle of German forests in pitch black. Keep up the great work guy's n girl's lol
Ted's patience with the slow progress of his dawdling workforce shows exactly how much of a legendary boss he is 👍
spot on!!
His patience is saintly.
A chieftan in bits with the majestic vista of the British countryside behind it............ wonderful..
Does life get any better ?😁
Beautiful England 🏴😍

It's not unreliable it's just highly stressed and looked after by the REMY so it's job creation writ large ,
It was once a major fortified Manor of some deal of importance, but Long gone, but for odd remains and a dark reputation.

Well done Ted another chieftain saved ! Your boys Joe and Jack have done great job !
I was an American tanker, I have had my share of activating tanks that have been sitting outside in storage depots, this was fun to watch.

If that's the Suzuki 750 Water-bottle you have then justification is a given. No price too high. 🏍
I'm sure I heard Jack say "You’ll Never Get Ahold of Me Lucky Charms". Great work guys, good to see it moving
The sound of a chieftain instantly takes me back to my youth and my time as a driver mech love your videos goosebumps best job I ever had 😂

What a beautiful sound when it starts
I love watching you and your team, ably overseen by Ted of course . Another fascinating insight into the world of tanks. Thank you.
Mad effort Chaps, Ted and 'Marylin' 😉
If anyone can bring it back to any semblance of former glory, it's you fella's.
Cheers for sharing.
1995 ! …29 years stood around in the rain and they have a week to get it running, no pressure….
I love the approach, 29 years, stood in the rain, give us a week, …but we pulled our spare engine pack and a spare dash board….out of stores….. love it…
This channel is the best thing on telly.
Two thing guarantee success: The Foden and Ted. Both present and correct and the old girl started and drove. A bit.
Well done the lads yet again. 👍👏
That looked like a very long day.
You're getting good at putting Chieftains back together now.
Jack is going to have to take back what he said about not being a mechanic at this rate.
Thanks for the Video!!
Well did you ever doubt it would move that day, of course not!!!!!, a long hard day but productive, well done lads.
Fair play to you Joe doing all that by yourself in that heat with no help from Jack at all..
AMAZING! 😉
It’s great you bring these back to life, way more rare than a Sherman, and it’s a symbol of when we had industry.
Who else would be mad enough to take on huge task like getting that engine into a tank on a temporary basis . Love this channel 😊

crazy, i dont think i can remember you ever working on a tank in the sun
BATUS ... when it wasn't snowing.
Looking forward to meeting you and Jack and all that iron at the weekend 😉
Congratulations on 250k subs. That’s awesome 🎉🇬🇧👊
Thank you
Love watching your endeavours. Absolutely brilliant.
Love watching all your videos...takes me back to when I served on chieftain's
Brilliant work lads. Glad to see Ted supervising as always. Work hard so you can play hard this weekend !
It's a good job you've got all the tonka toys to accomplish the task at hand Joe!
More excellent excitement, and ~12h too. Well done one and all and thankd to Ted for making you work so hard.
Glad Ted was there checking big job Looking good be nice to see it being driven great job 👍👍👍👌👌

Well done! The sight and sound of the Foden excites me 🤩

Long live Ted ❤
Chris DeBurgh suddenly sang in my head, “Lady in red”!
Wow nice good jobs Sir repair almost 20 years great manufacturing process
That Foden really is the best spanner in the toolbox , effortless lifting that pack up n in . Nice to see Ted the Gaffer
Great determination and effort by Ted to keep you all focussed. 😊
You muck about so we don't have to. Thank you for your service ✊
You could definitely do some farming videos, cover the stuff that your dad does. Everyone would watch it as long as you narrated it.
Saw this pop up in my notifications and came in watched it in the first 10 seconds it’s been posted keep up the hard work and I love yalls videos

Yup, gotta watch that updraught ;)
Fantastic effort Guys and Gal, good to see Ted in there having a go🤠👍
I always referred to it as the “Factor of Four”. For every 4 minutes of fun driving/shooting a tank there is 4 hours of backbreaking maintenance

Jack still looks like a T-rex but we do love his mum !
With Ted providing mechanical text book knowledge, moral support, drive, the lads have achieved. Well done Ted and the Lads.
Cracking episode, you really put the hours in on that one!
Well done guys , great work to get engine in and nearly driving. Shame about the gear box problem. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great job Ted and Krew. Hope Ted's got some little boots for his paws when out in the yard, might be nice for his hoomans but not much fun for him
A nice surprise.. opening you tube and seeing the Leicester lads in action.

Golden setting sun on the Goldeneye Chieftain. ☀️
That's a hell of a day right there. Ted you're a beast
Great effort truly proud of you both ...
A long hot day like that deserves some beer money!, brilliant and hard work, but it’s nearly there 👍🇮🇪
"The Browneye Chieftain". Sounds like a movie.
Ted: "Right, I've got the engine pack chained to the crane for you. Now, it's too hot, I'm off..."
Good to see you guys gain! Nice job. Good luck this weekend. Have fun. John in Canada
You guys have mad skills with tanks.
I remember seeing Golden Eye when i was 12 ever since ive been a fan of the Chieftain
This Chieftain was also used in an episode of Red Dwarf in 1997 as can be seen by the stencil "343" on the hatch in the episode :)
ua-cam.com/video/rIidf0flMvc/v-deo.htmlsi=OymPD8_FjOIqOTZk is the clip in question 😀
That is/was a T-55, not this Chieftain

I must admit that I tune into your channel to see Ted!
Best of luck with the show Joe. I would give me right arm to come down and see the Chieftains but I cant make it. I'm sure it'l be great!

Well that is what you call a mad scramble. Good on you lads to get that thing going in a day
I recently watched Goldeneye and was looking out for this tank and I got to say it actually looked really cool with the fake ERA blocks on it
The funny thing is that a lot of Russian tank crews in Ukraine found out the hard way that the ERA blocks on their tanks were fake too.
@@cogboy302Even worse is that some of them are getting T55's which have not even been attempted to look modern with fake ERA lol.
