This video is so inspiring and beautiful!! Congratulations for all the hard work you've done to turn this house into your lovely home. Greetings from Argentina.
I am in awe of, and inspired by, all you have done and are doing, and loving your vlogs! Thanks very much for sharing snippets of your life, while you continue to build your paradise.
Thank you for your lovely message, Portugal is a great place. We have made a new video coming up tomorrow talking about Italy and Portugal. Hopefully you will enjoy that. 😊 Best Ebonie and Martin
@@patricksweeney5308 weve lived in France also, we love France too. I think its really region specific, every place is so different. Weve travelled across Italy and found everywhere weve visited very welcoming, next year we will visit more of the country and smaller villages to understand these places more. We found the Portuguese very welcoming in most places too but maybe less used to expats in some parts....thats probably not the case now though as I know A lot of people have moved there since we were there. Its personal in the end everywhere has its pros and cons
You created an absolute natural design dream. Starting my first Italian Renovation this fall. Will be a historic city apartment but seeing your process makes me more excited about it!
I’m glad your video popped up on my home page. I will follow your journey. I have a house in Campagna and love watching videos of house owners in italy. All the best!
Greetings from the NY/Miami areas in the US. What a beautiful job you both have been doing! I enjoy house painting along with the arts & have to say the house looks exquisite. You succeeded in keeping its style while adding really cool features. What an inspiration!
Hello from Italy!! Thank you for your kind message really nice of you to say so. We put a lot of love and art into our projects so that is lovely of you to say. Thank you for following along.
Found your channel today, and I am happy to see you enjoying Puglia! I am from Martano but moved to the UK 7 years ago. I hope this summer you’re taking advantage of the feste padronali, notti della taranta e other festivities. Enjoy home for me too ☺️
@@Maisondebase I can understand you missing Aus however we have a very corrupt system atm like all around the world. I miss Italy as I have family there. You are in the best place atm being in a small village, You have created a haven for yourselves and your family of dogs. Keep creating and living the best life. I appreciate you sharing your life, Thank you. ciao.😀
I just discovered your channel and I must say you two are very talented! Not only was your Portugese property beautiful but on top of that your pottery is as well and this project in Italy is turning out to be stunning! I can't wait to see what's coming. Makes me dream more about our own plans to move to Bulgaria next year 😁
Oh thank you for following along, we are still learning and happy to be doing so. Really exciting about Bulgaria we have heard people love it there and doing a lot of great things. Best of luck with everything 😊
Love your artistic videos the content is beautiful, and I love Italy so much in this new project is amazing. All this special little touches and the large design projects are just so beautiful
Hello neighbours! 😉 We have bought a property in Puglia on the countryside near Gallipoli last year because we have fallen in love with Puglia the first time we have been there. So: we can understand you very well for settling in Puglia! The house looks fantastic now and your pottery is extraordinary 👍! Hope to see more videos of the work that's going on and about the surrounding area especially the city you live in. Good luck from Germany to you and best wishes for your project(s)! Brava! Hi!! Thank you for you kind words. Such a wonderful place and Gallipoli is lovely. So many places to explore and see in italy, we love it. Thank you again for following our journey and best of luck with yours. Best Ebonie and Martin
We bought a town house in Sardinia so I watched this with great interest. I love the gentle renovation you've done although I appreciate it was a lot of work. What type of plastering did you do? Lime? Also love the lights above the kitchen. Are they tiles or plant pots? Beautifully done. Would also like to know more about how you did the built-in seating. Essentially, I'm looking forward to your future videos! Bravi!
Hi! Ohhh wow Sardinia looks so amazing! Congrats. Thanks for your kind message. The lights are old terracotta pots that were here when we bought it so we thought it was a nice touch to reuse them. The plaster is mostly lime and some parts are stucco. The built in seat is made using a ferro cement technique, we might actually make a video about built in things as we have done quite a lot of that , as it really suits these houses we feel. Thank you for the idea and for following along.
@@Maisondebase The other half is from Sardinia so it made sense to move here; we were craving community after living in big cities in the UK. Our house is built into a hill and the back rooms can be cool but sometimes damp so I want to learn how to plaster with lime to let them breathe.
The floors are just beautiful; as there is probably no A/C (cold air) piped through the house what does the typical person do during the heat of the summer to make the best of life?
Thank you we love those too. we decided not to put a/c in for environmental reasons. We use fans, go for swims and spend a lot of time outdoors in the shady areas we have created.

Hello! We are so terrible about being on camera still trying to get used to it but we are Martin (Sweden) and ebonie (Australia) thank you for you kind message 🙏
Wow your place is great! What a great job y'all are doing and so good to see life returning to the property. Do you guys have a pottery studio there? I've started my own renovation in Galatina (though I have to manage it remotely and can't do the work myself) and look forward to seeing what's been accomplished when I travel there in September. I look forward to following your progress. 😊
Oh nice Galatina seems a nice area! Really great restoring these old places. We have a small studio yes :) hopefully we can show more progress soon. Thanks for following along and best of luck with your place.
How do you manage to travel with 3 dogs through Europe? Great video and remodel, thank you. Greetings from Portugal. We are in Greece right now considering to adopt a street dog through a shelter. It was easy to travel by plane with our previous 8 kg dog but are considering getting a bigger dog here…
Its a bit of an adjustment with the 3 dogs but we would never be without them. They come everywhere we go and are family to us. There are some sacrifices you have to make but the trade off of the joy they bring for us is more than worth it. We want more 😅 I say go for it !
@@Maisondebase I know Oria, lovely town! We bought down in the Salento, in a small village called Specchia, also on top of a hill. Great job by the way. We're also doing it ourselves. Good luck!
Just amazing video, experience and lifestyle! May I ask you, do you have a degree or background in design/architecture or where do you get ideas and technical knowledges about renovation processes? Thank you!
Thank you for your lovely message. We didn't study design or architecture but we spent a lot of time researching, we learnt most things by doing. Trial and error, a lot of material exploration and interest. We are both artists so we are quite creative and enjoy exploring new ideas and concepts, we started teaching ourselves how to use some simple technical programs for design more recently like sketch up to learn more about that side of things too. Its all just learning but anyone can do it ☺
The renovation isn't finished yet so we haven't got much furniture or decor since we don't want it being ruined by dust and things. We have to live in the house while its being completed which is very challenging so buying comforts isn't high on the list at the moment as we don't want to replace everything, that would be wasteful. So we keep it to the bare minimum for comforts at the moment
It’s so sad the pandemic was man made by horrible people in America and to this day still going on and nobody is stopping this atrocity. The whole world has suffered from it
I’m saddened by some choices you’ve made, not site or history appropriate. Just a few meeting with an architect, dotted throughout your process would have made it so much more context appropriate. Or designed. But good for you to try and learn good traditional building techniques.
Oh really? What choices might that be? I find that an interesting comment since we basically left everything as it was only updated some spaces with local materials. We don't have the budget for the luxury of an architects at this stage in our life...
