      You are also looking at incredibly expensive homes. This tiny house would have cost a fortune to renovate. So not really fair to compare it against other nations. My 2 million dollar architecturally renovated weatherboard house looks much nicer than my friends 300k home in Michigan but they are far from fair comparisons. I don’t see that Australian design is on the vanguard. They are incredibly constrained by building regulation

    I wish they had shown a floor plan, or had done a sequential walk-through so you could understand where each of the rooms is located in relation to the others. Is the bathroom upstairs? Where is the child's room? How do you block off the spiral staircase so the kid doesn't fall down the stairs? Whre is that office located? How many floors in total. Great to talk about your concepts, but it's a very confusing video if you are interested in the actual layout.

      Hear hear. I couldn't even figure out where they'd put their toothbrush with the little we got to see of the bathroom. Style over substance. I hope another channel will feature this house and give us a better tour, because the house itself seems wonderful.

    Loved everything about this space. The rustic minimalism along with the light and airy feel as well as that center courtyard which reminds me of old Spanish homes which was done to create air flow. I wish the video, though beautifully shot and artistic, would've been a bit slower and lingered more in each room so as to be able to really see and understand the apartment layout more. It felt a bit rushed and chaotic. But again, from what I could see, I loved the space.

    Cupboards, splashback, benchtop and plaster unity makes this. Hiding these visually took bravery. Probably bedrooms upstairs would have been good to see innovation there. I wonder how it will go as the population ages? Suspect the stairs remained a problem.

    • @debzeb6899
      @debzeb6899 2 роки тому +4

      If the owner keeps using the stairs they will keep their mobility longer, but that back studio would serve well if they have hip or knee issues. I have lived with a spiral staircase and I don’t like them. At least this one will be only used by those that live there. And it’s way better than a ladder. I was confused by the outdoor shower. It’s overlooked by all the other houses.

    • @futurebrilliantteam8851
      @futurebrilliantteam8851 2 роки тому +2

      @@debzeb6899 OK I don't have much experience with spiral staircases. The outdoor shower is pretty common for Australian beach side suburbs. But this is in Redfern!!! - it is no where near the beach. I suspect it is not for utility but for storytelling. Overall, the courtyard is a missed opportunity to use the vertical space more effectively. The grass tree is brutish (being larger than a person) and missed the chance to connect the upper story with the courtyard or lower story. An alternative might have been to run stairs along the boundary of the courtyard to the upper level, taking the place of the shower, removing the internal staircase (more internal space upstairs and downstairs). Maybe too difficult with local planning laws but there are lots of other ways of using the courtyard better to connect the lower and upper levels, let in light and create a respite. I normally dislike cream or yellow paintwork, here the earthy paint/tone seems to work well and impressed me.

    • @debzeb6899
      @debzeb6899 2 роки тому +2

      @@futurebrilliantteam8851 the spiral tread is a triangle, narrowest at the center and that's hard to navigate naturally. It's also hard to move when holding something and the space is cramped and restricts the size of objects you can move between floors. I really like your idea of using the external space for stairs, and I've seen this done to good effect between homes as a boundary that still lets in a good deal of light to adjacent rooms. I like the colour palate a lot too. There's yellows and then yellows!

      It did, briefly. It showed the couple's bed upstairs.

    Looks lovely, but I wouldn't want to go up and down that staircase with a kid 😬😬😬😬, the kitchen also looks to small, I don't have masses of kitchen gadgets and I feel like it would be really difficult to have the essentials in such a small space.

    Nice house but if I was living in there I wouldn't trust my 2 y.o going up and down those stairs by himself.

    Gorgeous, soulful. The courtyard is a game changer.
    Tiny change I would make… As a fellow Mama, I would not have chosen what appears to be a toxic fire stick plant & what appears to be a pointy tree. I would have used other structural plants. But that is a minor issue. Love the design.

      🤣You made a glaring omission in your child safety assessment: the spiral staircase.
