Another great review! Loving the smooth but aggressive looks of the GV60...but...love the modern/retro of the Ioniq 5, they are making it tough lol. Not thinking of the money would probably take the GV60 if the ride and performance is as expected.
What I really like about this car is that it is a bit smaller than the EV6 which is really too big for my liking. I still think the Ioniq 5 is the best looking one though.
Yeah tbh I agree with that Out of the 3 definitely my fave looking from the back reminding me of the DBX and the generally sporty design to it. Probably followed by the Genesis as I’m not a huge fan of the Ioniq 5 to ‘retro’ like styling of it also the reason why I hate the Honda E the Ioniq gets away with it more though but still not amazing. Also i feel it seems worth the slightly higher price overall as it’s better speeded overall in comparison to th Hyundai and the GV60 isn’t that comparable as it isn’t the same price or premium value. Also as proven in Carwows range test it is far superior to the Hyundai and probably will be better then the GV60 as the most range you get out of its batteries is 280ish whereas the Kia EV6 is 300+ (I’m writing this late so I don’t remember everything of the top of my head lol) So overall the EV6 is most certainly the superior of the 3 Korean Electrics

Feel bad for Australasia. We don’t even have half the brands everyone else does. Don’t have mustang Mach e, don’t have any of the new brands. Except for polestar. Haven’t got any electric VW’s, teslas take years to come out here. (Model Y release date isn’t even announced). It’s sad.

I don’t doubt this could be a great car but I need to know my car reviewer is being honest and I don’t know if I can trust this guy now.
After 54 years of mainly ‚german premium‘ also in cost for servicing these cars, I own an EV6 AWD with the lowest TCO ever. As I was out for a sporty GT-limo with some space and Jaguar iPace like design, that was already in 2021 my favorite choice. But I definitely like the Ioniq 5, 6 and the GV60 too. Here the young designers and engineers got full support by their also European mentors from the very best. Finally new cars with the iconic personality of an E-Type, an Alfa-Romeo Montreal, a Lancia Delta or earlier Jaguar Limousines and Porsche all near the showcars where also realized and not only promised. Cars definitely not for the boring mass of SUV-drivers and that at the top of actual EV. With also a well balanced outfit at a fair price. An EQE350+ with all in costs three times as much for less value. So it’s only Tesla or Hyundai group, waiting for the best from China coming soon to Europe. This is a desperate situation for all German ‚premium‘ of the past - the definition must be redefined urgently as ‚Vorsprung durch Technik‘, sinking stars, Bavarian baroque or cars for the people are out. Only Porsche as a partner of Rimac-Bugatti and guess who - Hyundai group - plays a role on the top of today. 😂😎🇨🇭
I like this GV60, it's a nice looking car. I also really like the EV6 so it's a bit of a toss-up between the two. The Ionic 5 is definitely the least of the 3 but it's still a fantastic car as well. I wish you were able to show the boot/trunk area because I'm thinking that 20cm/8in lost is going to all be from the storage area.
At least some of the space was lost from the rear seats - looked like Jack had 5-10cms less space, comapred to what I remembered of the EV6 review (here, his knees are practically touching the seat-back, and hes got his feet pulled back, pushing his knees higher, I think)
We have the EV6 and a Gordon Setter. Same problem with the Jaguar iPace and even Tesla Model Y. The hight of the loading edge. We have no more dog box, as he is safe in the back but then there is no more room left. It’s a GT-crossover and no SUV!😅😎🇨🇭
I like the EV6 and it's futuristic looks, very cool. The Ioniq 5 has bold styling and I feel is the most unique looking out of the three. However, I prefer the GV60 for it's softer lines, and what appears to be a bit more premium.
I’ve just gone back from Fully Charged UK Live 2022 in Farnborough - amazing! I got to drive the Ionic 5 and EV6 back to back and got to sit in the GV60 - the interior premium feel of the GV60 is absolutely breath taking! It doesn’t come over in the video -it’s the touch and feel. I’ve an order on the GTLineS AWD EV6 but am now considering the GV60 Sport -their middle of the range model for the luxuriousness of the interior!
@@Antiguan_Dart I went to Fully Charged Live on Friday. I agree, the GV60 felt premium and overall quality was pretty good. I heard someone say, it's like the interior of a Dubai hotel. Another great video Jack. This right here just has "fún" written all over it. For what it seeks to be its brilliant and I'd take this over the other two without a second thought. This is the type of pleasantly different yet suitably emotive kind of design one wants to see from car makers - the fact that its an eV is just icing on the cake. Really hope its as well put together and drives as good as it looks.
I’m weird. I own an Ioniq 5 P45 and love that colour you’re presenting. Off to Specsavers. The design element in the C pillar is supposed to represent a volt….. Performance version looks interesting, but Hyundai are putting the 320kW motors in the Ioniq 5 N being released later this year, I fancy that. You’ve got me hooked Jack, always look at your video first on launch release day.
The lack of a rear wiper is going to be a daily annoyance, especially in the British weather. I just got my Ioniq 5, and the rear window might as well be frosted.
In Korea you get those side mirrors w camera. Supposedly it's coming to North America on the EV6 and IONIQ 5 down the line. Most likely an option though.
The roundish shape gives me a sense of the 90's melted cheese designs sneaking back from the past. I'd definately prefer to view it from the inside than from the outside.
Well, wait for Ioniq 5 N! They recently tested the hot hatch at the Nurnburg Ring and it seems to have the 585 HP of the EV6 GT. It looks very hot in the original light blue with red calibers and had sport seats too! By the way it is different to sibling Kia EV6 GT which is really a Gran Tourismo car. So wait for testing the N-Version!
Another interesting vehicle that is completely beyond the reach of most viewers. I know they hardly exist and its not FC's fault, but in future I'm only going to watch reviews of cars I might be able to afford. I would suggest that most manufacturers are concentrating on luxury EVs so that they can say "Look how clever we are" and "Look how green we are" whilst not having to produce them in any great quantity (too expensive) or hurt their ICE market.
Haven't had a car at all since 2017 and it's a fantastic situation! There are so many different kinds of vehicles that I rented since then that I would never have driven otherwise, and it's cheaper too (given that I need a car only about once a month in average or even less lately). The rest of the time I only need my electric moped and sometimes I take the bus. I saved a lot of money and could afford things that I couldn't when I owned a car. Never going to own a car again!
I'm bored out my mind of the German dominance. Not just in this segment but in others such as the family hatch back segment. Between VAG, BMW & Mercedes they haven't made anything interesting to me for decades. And what completely blows my mind is the number of 71 plate diesel Audi's and BMW's I'm seeing on the road. Who in their right mind is buying diesel in the current climate?
@@Jimthehumanoid good point on the company cars. Still, these diesels scarcely get better fuel economy than modern small capacity turbo petrols and no more performance. Also all these manufacturers do hybrids, whether it's plug in or mild.
Many Korean reviewers keep saying: "GV60 is definitely more bang for the buck than Ioniq5 and/or EV6" You should check out this car before purchasing Ioniq5/EV6
The Ionic 5 stands out from the crowd. Is good from every angle. This is very good looking car and i like upper part of the front. The shark mouth i don't know. Does it look like a sportscar from the 80' ?
Goodness a truly stylish, feminine exterior, graceful lines, the aggressive features are subtle, understated, the streamline dual lights are very stylish indeed. I trust the CD is low too and the car is efficient in use. Not sure about the colour, I think something a bit more restrained would suit me. But certainly a refreshing change from Tonka Toy SUVs. Outside my league by a long way though.
I love the looks of this and would have bought it had it been available. As it is, I bought an EV6 and should receive it at the start of April. The Ioniq5 just doesn't work for me
Love everything about the design, except the c pillar. That little swoop bothers me so much I don’t know if I could buy the car. Maybe that’s picky but it just gets under my skin.
I'll be honest, I don't understand the camera side view cameras on any car. Simple mirrors are always faster and sharper, and cheaper? I suppose there's a drag coefficient debate, but even then, the problem is only supported until improved battery technology that makes it negligible exists.
Godddaammm that's one sexy looking car. Just when I thought they couldn't make good looking EV's, they knock out the GV60, those lights are super cool and no stupid light bar to be seen. Still aren't convinced with camera wing mirrors, they will be expensive to replace when the local bus knocks them off when you are parked up. I suspect this one is going to be pricey though and out of reach for most people, shame, looks promising.
Slightly odd styling for a premium car. I dunno. I do know actually; I don’t like it. I’m sure it’ll be great to drive but I don’t like looking at it and, for a car that’ll be premium priced, that’s a non starter. Also hate that colour. Strange choice by Hyundai/Kia.
gone from being a huge fan of the 'hyundai family' to almost detesting them, i own a 2022 kona electric (3 yr lease like my previous cars) and so far at 6 weeks old, it has caused me more grief than the last 3 cars (9 years) combined.
Having driven both the EV4 and the Ionic 5, there are thing I like with both cars and thing I don't - I like the sporty look and feel of the EV6, but I prefer the spacious cabin and better view in the Ionic 5 - all out luxury is nothing I care about, so the GV60 would not be for me.
Where the hell could you already drive an EV4? Are you working in the design team? The model should come the next three years according to Korean sources and is smaller than EV6 of course.
Not keen on that front profile - looks almost cartoon like but the side profile looks great. Overall, it doesn't have the same impact as the Ioniq 5 for me.
I don't like the design language. Tones of late noughties Mini meets Porsche trying to be a family car. That crystal ball thingy is a nice touch though.
In an EV only world, I don't believe Genesis being a separate brand makes much sense anymore. Should just be different EV models in one line of cars. These cars are too similar to be entirely different brands. I have an M3 Dual but want more comfort so I'll be watching the Koreans closely in the next couple of years. I think China will enter the US market within two years.
Why do Hyundi favour cheap and nasty looking silver spray paint for all their buttons? Reminds me of an 80s ghetto blaster. At least the huge screen bezels are black.
'Numb bum' rear seats then. There's absolutely no thigh support, as can be seen by the big gap below his legs. That's a serious oversight in what is intended to be a premium car.
You're one of the best car reviewers on UA-cam. Great infusion of personality coupled with smooth flow of info. You're a natural! I love the new EV Genesis offering. Just can't wait for the bigger one to come out. This one is just too small for many of us bigger Americans. I have the 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe (and a 2019), and we do love their products.
Jack - I am a tall individual, when you were in the back seat with the driver seat set to your comfort it looks like your knees were almost touching. Question - How tall are you so there is a frame of reference. Thanks
Unpopular opinion but I reckon this is just a bit lazy by Genesis. We know bits and pieces of Hyundai/Kia/Genesis cars are used interchangeably but there was always a clear difference in the GV series by genesis that it was a class of its own. This really does just look like an EV6 that they replaced a few parts from the ioniq and some genesis staples and said yep that will do. It almost feels that Kia is outgrowing it’s older sibling and it’s evident with the 2022 line. Genesis either will need to up its game or fall behind the Kia take over in my humble opinion. Also the cost of this will far exceed the ev6 and ioniq which only adds value to those two models.
I bought an Ioniq 5 after my wife and I fell in love with it while watching your review. It’s our first new car and our first EV. We managed to get one of the Project 45 launch models and it’s an absolute joy to drive. While I like the idea of a more driver focussed car I just love the looks of the Ioniq 5. There’s just nothing else like it on the road.
Congrats on the purchase. How it handles on the road being that big? That is the thing kind blocked me to buy it. Is your version the one with solar roof?
@@DS-pk4eh it’s very quiet and comfortable. It took a while to get used to the fact that it’s so quiet. It’s all too easy to go faster than you meant to, so I really appreciate the HUD as it’s a fairly constant reminder. The ride is definitely not sporty although it’s 0-60 launch is pretty addictive. I’ve heard reviews suggest that it’s wallowy around corners but that’s not been my experience. It is a big and heavy car though so don’t expect to chuck it around corners at high speed. It’s an excellent family car. Plenty of space for rear facing car seats in the back and/or grandparents, a reasonable boot size and when you’re on your own it will embarrass most other cars at the traffic light Gran prix, if that’s your sort of thing. Yes we got the Project 45 edition that has the solar panel roof, pop-out handles, electric rear seats and the rear privacy blinds.
i have p45 ionic 5 but also a load of faults 12v flat battery 3 days running there is a fault with charger door that is making the 12v battery flat. sent it back to the dealer as there is a part shortage could wait up to 3months to get my car back I wish I had never brought this car.
I love the color. And by "love" I mean I appreciate that manufacturers seem more willing to use audacious and unique colors for their EVs, getting away from the typical red/grey/black/white/blue.
Every car can be ordered with a multitude of colors (most cars anyway) but people are boring and are afraid it will hit the resale value. As if a car isn't the worst investment anyway so who cares. :)
@@Flaggyt You also need to order it, which means you need to actually know that's a thing you can do 'cause it's rarely advertised. Then wait 2-3 months for it to be delivered. Of course this also costs more than the "premium colors" already do as well...
I think of the 3 the ioniq 5 still looks the most amazing. It's the most amazing blend of modern but retro, daring outer design, roomy interior. I think genesis looks very clean in contrast. I think the 21 inch wheels is a sad feature. I would eventually change them to 19 or 18 inch wheels in time for better comfort which ruins the overal design profile and an ovetsized wheelarch. For now it looks cool, but when people want to change tires the car will look ugly.
Good point about the wheels... but regarding the Ioniq 5 - I agree it's an amazing blend of modern and retro, but I can't help but wonder how quickly it will age / start to look dated... whilst this Genesis design is both clean, and potentially more timeless...
I think on my basic EV6 AWD with all in expect seat ventilation, sunroof and Meridian sound because of our Gordon Setter, the 19“ for summer and winter with the black wheel arches and snow white pearl body color are just perfect. The summer wheels are the standard aero design and my Kia partner has choosen marvelous black winter wheels looking even better!❤😎🇨🇭
@@benbennit Well they may have degraded by 15% or so. Hyundi are running at 1% a year or slightly under. 15 years in an ICE car and the engine is junk. Mostly so at 10 years. No staying power.
With the current supply/demand a second hand EV will be affordable in never years time. I’m still hoping but in our country the prices are still silly and when subsidies came (€2000 euro subsidies for second hands) the prices rose with €2000, which makes them even more expensive because those subsidies are gone within a few weeks after new year (fixed amount so high rush in January).
Apart from the silly lightning bolt on the C-Pillar I reckon they’ve nailed the styling. Can someone please convince Genesis to start supplying the New Zealand market! We’ve had the Ionic 5 for a wee while (my 81yr old uncle just bought one) and EV6 arrives in a few months time I believe. Can’t wait!
I love the silly C pillar lightning bolt! It's bold, interesting, and unique while also being fairly inoffensive and rather restrained - it's kind of a deep notch, but there's only one of them. Imagine if they'd used that kind of design all across the car
@@iplaysdrums maybe we should call it the Z pillar? For me I think it’s the one spot where the designers were trying a little bit too hard and didn’t quite nail it. I think it detracts slightly from the premium feel they’re aiming for to compete with the big German players. That said, it’s a minor quibble - this car is hot!
@@pakosouthpark yep I’ve seen the odd Genesis around the place, we get a lot of Japanese imports more than Australian ones, but it’s not the same has having the support and volume that comes with a dealer network. Perhaps Hyundai NZ are planning something…
Editor forgot the links at the end again I see. Robert always looks stupid pointing them out when they don’t exist. Really need to sort that out guys. If you’re not going to have the links, leave out Robert talking about them. Still happy to be a member 😊
Looks good, but nose is a bit too grilly for an EV for my taste. I prefer it when car designers manage to design the front of a car without designing it around a grill, whether real or pretend.
I kind of get it when a brand known for its grill shape makes a fake grill, obvs looking at BMW here, but for Genesis to do it? I can only imagine they're trying to appeal to traditional car buyers. No bad thing, I guess.
I hope techy LiDAR and camera kit will become the design features of choice. Some brands already integrate sensors behind a shiny black plastic badge area. Hopefully they get more creative than that!
I'm a Korean. I already signed a contract with the gv60. But because of semiconductor problems, the car dealer said you will have to wait more than a year. ㅠㅠ
I love all 3. I think the EV6 is my favorite, however I'm doubting that by the second as I watch this review. The GV60 looks like a hot hatch not an SUV, which I love.
Reminds me a little of the 60s Toyota 2000GT. I like most of the design exept the Genesis trademark wide mouthed frog look with the totally unnecessary overblown front grille.
So, which would you go for - the Ioniq 5, the EV6 or the GV60? Tell us below..
None of them....Maybe if the price comes down, as we were "promised", but at the current prices i'll keep on to my 6 year old, paid off diesel..
EV6 still for me. It's just better looking than this.
This growing in me. If it’s smaller than the ev6 and Ioniq 5… I’m intrigued

Who in their right mind is buying diesel in the current climate?
The bit where you said “Who in their right mind” should answer your own question. 😀
Mostly company cars doing loads of miles I suspect. I still don't think there is confidence in EVs yet for high mileage drivers
Great video and it looks bonkers with that color!
I wonder if many people got the ref 'I know what I like and I like what I know' ? Maybe only Peter Gabriel
I love the looks of this and would have bought it had it been available. As it is, I bought an EV6 and should receive it at the start of April. The Ioniq5 just doesn't work for me
Love the São Paulo limão! And the style, the face and the shoulders!
Will they make enough? Now that the Ionic 5 is available in the US, it's not actually available.
Love everything about the design, except the c pillar. That little swoop bothers me so much I don’t know if I could buy the car. Maybe that’s picky but it just gets under my skin.
It's quite beautiful. I would still go for EV6 though. More practical.
Dashboard screen cluster seems out of place, doesn't fit flush any where, like it came from a tractor and they just bolted it on.
This does look really good. Those wheels in particular are great. I look forward to seeing the full review.
I have the ioniq5 and I shud have waited I am in love with the Genesis
I'll be honest, I don't understand the camera side view cameras on any car. Simple mirrors are always faster and sharper, and cheaper? I suppose there's a drag coefficient debate, but even then, the problem is only supported until improved battery technology that makes it negligible exists.
That colour...
MY first reaction was, oh no, it's calf scour!
Did you ever get this on a long drive? That is the only way to find out what the car is really like.
They missed a trick by not calling this the Mega Drive in Europe.
I’ll see myself out…
I really like the look of this one although not that keen on the colour.
GV gets my nod. Little more than a dream though.
gone from being a huge fan of the 'hyundai family' to almost detesting them, i own a 2022 kona electric (3 yr lease like my previous cars) and so far at 6 weeks old, it has caused me more grief than the last 3 cars (9 years) combined.
Will be interesting to see if they include the sunroof and not drop it like on the Ionic 5 in the UK.. 😭
I prefer the Genesis smooth rounded style to the angular sharp edged Ionic 5. Looks classier and more aerodynamic.
Not keen on that front profile - looks almost cartoon like but the side profile looks great. Overall, it doesn't have the same impact as the Ioniq 5 for me.
Someone trip that guy at 1:29 ? Lol
I don't like the design language. Tones of late noughties Mini meets Porsche trying to be a family car. That crystal ball thingy is a nice touch though.
Porsche Macan esque look about it 👏
Would prefer a standard openable moon roof.
beautiful , especially when they'll produced at man size !
It's a great looking hatchback (Not a SUV or crossover)
Doesn't 'funky' mean broken; faulty?
In an EV only world, I don't believe Genesis being a separate brand makes much sense anymore. Should just be different EV models in one line of cars.
These cars are too similar to be entirely different brands.
I have an M3 Dual but want more comfort so I'll be watching the Koreans closely in the next couple of years.
I think China will enter the US market within two years.
Why do Hyundi favour cheap and nasty looking silver spray paint for all their buttons? Reminds me of an 80s ghetto blaster. At least the huge screen bezels are black.
IONIQ5 N is on my wishlist
Lovely. I want one.
mmmm drift mode... something we all need around town or on a long trip... not
Well done, great video
This car shows a lot of promise 👍🏼 - I like the design
'Numb bum' rear seats then. There's absolutely no thigh support, as can be seen by the big gap below his legs. That's a serious oversight in what is intended to be a premium car.
I really like the colour 😌
Wondering if is it a pouch cell or a cylindrical cell battery pack
Interesting car
That detail on the C pillar? I believe that’s what’s known as gopping.
This car design reminds me of Butterfree the Pokemon.
Bentley called - they want their badge back!
The future is... Calling ALL cars SUVs of some sort
Jack - I am a tall individual, when you were in the back seat with the driver seat set to your comfort it looks like your knees were almost touching. Question - How tall are you so there is a frame of reference. Thanks
I love the look of this car.... but I'd buy, if it was my own money, the ev6.
I really like the 5....but now this is out I'm torn...
@@seanholdom9739 Man that sucks, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope Hyundai sort you out and turn the experience around.
I love the color. And by "love" I mean I appreciate that manufacturers seem more willing to use audacious and unique colors for their EVs, getting away from the typical red/grey/black/white/blue.
To bad the only cars available from dealers are white, black, and grey!
or for the Ioniq 5, black, white, grey, grey, grey, grey, grey and grey
@@bibliotek42 ahhh but it looks soooo good in grey. Saw a black one the other day. Really not the same futuristic wow factor.
Bloody gorgeous! Can’t wait til I can afford a second hand one in about 15 years time
The batteries will be junk by then.
@@benbennit Well they may have degraded by 15% or so. Hyundi are running at 1% a year or slightly under. 15 years in an ICE car and the engine is junk. Mostly so at 10 years. No staying power.
@@mbak7801 What are you talking about? : /
😆 🤣
Can’t wait!
they're in Australia, surely can be imported?
I love the silly C pillar lightning bolt! It's bold, interesting, and unique while also being fairly inoffensive and rather restrained - it's kind of a deep notch, but there's only one of them. Imagine if they'd used that kind of design all across the car
Wow. Go uncle! 👏👏👏
If I had to choose... wait, I already did, and I went for the Ioniq 5 and I don't regret it! I also think it's the best looking one.
It looks stunning, I’d definitely have this colour as well.
Editor forgot the links at the end again I see. Robert always looks stupid pointing them out when they don’t exist. Really need to sort that out guys. If you’re not going to have the links, leave out Robert talking about them.
Still happy to be a member 😊
Ha I thought that was a joke…didn’t know they’ve done it before. They really must rush to get these out….it’s a so well edited piece otherwise.
I think it’s a UA-cam thing.
ㅠㅠ
Every time I see a review of this guy I wanna buy the car! Super great car and great presentation!
Looks a bit like a baby Porsche
Has a Macan look about it.
When, when, when? Love an Ionic 5N or a GV60 but I want them in 2022 not 2023, come on Hyundai spoil us!
I love all 3. I think the EV6 is my favorite, however I'm doubting that by the second as I watch this review. The GV60 looks like a hot hatch not an SUV, which I love.
You looked cramped in the back of this car Rob. The design wasn’t for me, I prefer the EV6
Rob🤣🤣, 30 years ago maybe!!
But the EV6 is known for tight headroom in the rear.
He's 6'3" or 6'4". I thought that was perfectly acceptable.
That is a damn fine-looking vehicle. Great review, Jack!
Reminds me a little of the 60s Toyota 2000GT. I like most of the design exept the Genesis trademark wide mouthed frog look with the totally unnecessary overblown front grille.
How did you say there's loads of rear space when it looked like you were rolled up in a ball?
He's 6'3"+
