So many clients that reach out to us want to get strong & fit. (and yes, this means different things to different people), as well as not being in pain, no one wants that!
To achieve this, something I see a lot of is trying to combine methods to get to get "the best of all worlds", many times just putting together strength exercises in circuits and working "hard" to achieve the above mentioned goal.
The problem with it is that you don't end up achieving a high level of either, let alone both, and many times beating yourself up, getting injured, or running into a plateau and not getting results.
Joel Jamieson and I dive into how to build strength, power, and cardio and why circuits that many people do are NOT the best way to train.
Discover a template to get strong, fit, resilient, and keep yourself injury free.

hi Luca where would you place assault bikes / echo bikes in this pyramid ?
    thanks

They are just tools and you can develop different types of conditioning with them. So it depends on what you want to achieve, then use methods and create a program that implements the bikes on conditioning days

So what is the best method of Training if you want them both? How do you combine strenght / power / hypertrophy with conditioning / speed / cardio intervals ?

The answer to that is different for everyone based on their goals, training history, lifestyle , schedule, etc. In most cases 2-3 strength sessions that include speed/power training, and may finish with some intense conditioning, then 2-3 days focused specifically on cardio (which type depends on weaknesses and what you want to develop)

Focus on max strength and aerobic base 90 percent of the time. Once in a while do bodybuilding type and intervals

What about cardiac output strength circuits?? Aren't those good for aerobic conditioning?

Did you find out anything about the aerobic conditioning with circuit and bodyweight exercises?

What they are talking about is a training response that will make you stronger or faster….strength circuits will mostly just burn a lot of calories which is fine if you want to lose body fat….
I personally prefer a circuit as opposed to walking on a treadmill for an hour

that's fine if you're just working on aesthetics, absolutely, because it does burn calories and raises the metabolism. But if you're trying to either get stronger/faster OR have a better and more efficient gas tank(aerobic base) then strength circuits aren't necessarily the right tool for the job.

So..."crossfit" focused type training means shit

      That’s not “training.”
It’s exercise that burns calories and will make you leaner…
You do CrossFit and you become better at CrossFit
