Risk of Rain 2 is a roguelike third-person shooter developed by Hopoo games and published by Gearbox Publishing. It was released into early access in 2019 and fully released in August 2020. The game supports up to 4-players in online multiplayer and is available for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Google Stadia. The new Anniversary Update adds a ton of new content and skins to the game.

My favorite bit was how the devs spent the entire video _desperately_ trying to understand why anyone would choose the bauble, and missed the obvious answer which is that it was a misclick.
Occam's razor: the simplest explanation is usually the right one.

Can we appreciate the devs when they were talking about level design and jumping straight up to the top. They mention that they were glad that they didn't force creative players through the level using boundary walls or anything. Big shoutout to letting players find fun way to play and not punishing them for it!
Yeah, also i'm pretty sure it is 100% intentional that you can launch yourself up there with captains diablo strike. Its hight is basically perfect for it.

@@Miniko you heard me right. Take the best character in the game, find a nice spot to get a tiny bit of extra hight, place your strike and prepare for the launch.
That’s hopoo for ya. They are one of the coolest game devs because they know that people want to try and find interesting ways to play, and then let them play that way.

i've killed mithrix so fast on 3rd phase one time that he didn't die and the game thought he was dead, he chased me back to the ship and slaughtered me

@@Deathtank75 there is a chance the game doesn't register Mithrix as a boss when they spawn him in for some reason and it skips the phase entirely with a living mithrix because there is no boss technically.
@The Man Who Asked It doesn't mean that it's impossible. It means that it's actually intended behaviour and not a glitch at all.

For the devs, it's because Mithrix has an in-between moment for phase 2-3, where he can be shot before he starts taking items

If you have ATG's and a few clovers or enough firebands it always skips the last phase, it's hilarious.
I'm so glad that the devs immediately acknowledged that Loader was the best character in the game. How is Falcon Punch Spiderman something that only exists in this game
there is no best character in risk of rain... Loader has just so much base mobility that you can build dmg without being slow. Thats why speedrunners pick Loader. All characters do something else so you really cant compare them. What really depends is what character is the most fun FOR YOU to play.
@@noniegyachtet there is a worst character though... engineer... by far... the vast majority of its damage comes from uncontrollable AI... which automatically makes it the worst character (it is still my favorite character though) although a large part of this is because his primary is so bad...

What I'm curious about is how they knew where the teleporters were every time. Are teleporter locations paired with spawn locations, perhaps?
They have a very noticable particle effect.
They spawn on the opposite side of the map from where you spawn.

The teleporters have fixed spawn regions within which they have a minor random offset in specific placement, which means if you know where these areas are and how they correlate to the player spawn locations, you can run straight to them.
If you have more than 5 hours in the game you can accurately guess where the teleporter might be. Even without the particles
My guess is that in the coding, Mithrix doesnt have the invulnerability for just a single frame or two, but because of how much damage the fire band puts out, it might be enough at that low of a level to just instantly murder Mithrix, thus skipping the whole third phase.
It also works on very high levels once you’ve picked up a lot of items; doesn’t really work well between low and high levels though

You can just edit one of the game files and put in any number you want. Makes the game way more fun since you can just spend as many coins as you like.

@@Angelsylvexian if you go back to where you spawned in on the final stage after killing Mithrix there will be a crystal frog there for some reason. It's an easter egg of some sort .

It's funny how they think the chronobauble wasn't accidentally chosen. It's one space up from the razorwire in the item selection pop-up.
The fact even the devs didn’t know you could choose your destination after using the portal in the newts zone astounds me
My favorite part is that the devs one year later still have no idea why you can skip the phase where mithrix takes your items. And it is because they didn’t account for over damaging mithrix, so you take take her health bar all the way to 0 before her invincibility triggers

As a person who has no experience with this game, it looks like he's just standing there and winning
They're playing on the lowest difficulty, so enemy health and damage scale up with time very slowly, keeping it all very low. They also have a game modifier that doubles the number of enemies, but halves their hp. Then they just stack nothing but reflect damage, so when he gets hit, enemies take damage, and die.
One of my favorite games of the generation.
^^^^^^^^^ we need more rogue-likes/lites feels like they're severely lacking this gen, last gen they were popping off like crazy.

That's a fun thing with a game built around having interesting mechanics. There's usually tons of interactions that the devs would never even consider, but happen anyway because of how the game was built.

the fire band can skip the last phase because if you hit mithrix just before he gets immunity in the last phase he doesnt steal your items, you can do it with continuous dmg mostly like fireband
I've always said the more restrictions the Devs make on the experience for the player the less of a GAME it becomes. Leaving more power and decisions to the player is what really makes a game great imo
Swarms and Sacrifice go well together, more items while easier to kill

I've played this game and have no clue what's going on, but I'm here for it.
Took all the artifacts to lower the difficulty, and did the combo: razorwire shoots enemies around you when you are hurt + hellfire tincture damages everyone in a radius, including yourself.

fun fact: risk of rain commando was a tower in roblox tower defense simulator in the 2019 area 51 event if you beaten it on normal or hard you would get the commando tower!

This game can be run too many time with many differnet chars, comps, rng, maps etc, to be run in only 9 minutes. He just killed the boss with 1 char and 1 comp, but there are many many different ones to explore and do that with
