  • I randomly stumbled on this museum as I was filming another video and thought that I definitely couldn't miss out on my first ever Communist Museum, so I decided to show you guys too. I learned a lot of new things. It was also free to get in, which is rare. What do you think about what you saw here?

still trying to decide if this some "white monkey job” or are you a “useful idiot”?
you have some serious lying abilities to lecture us about learning history in a whitewashed sanitized propaganda presentation of erasing it…
how was the section on the 60 million killed during the great leap forward not by famine but self directed stupidity and man made famine…
or the millions of people sent to labor camps for 26 years for writing poetry like Pu Ning or execution for criticizing the government Lin Zhao
I bet the Tiananmen massacre section was informative since it DIDNT EXIST IN YOUR VIDEO.
Or the current history of Chinese police stations all over the world used to harass and monitor Chinese dissidents.
      Nothing to see here right
both things can be true. china suffered colonialism and the ccp current government has from day 1 treated their population like expendable trash.

I have no vested interest in politics but i have the upmost respect for the countless ordinary men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice to save their homeland.

Hey bro…i have watched quite a few westerner travelers’ vlogs. But you are the first I have encountered who is visiting the Museum of the Chinese revolution.kudos to you! Being a Chinese canadian, i so appreciate your open- mindedness. I first read about the Chinese revolution at age 18 via Edgar Snow’s Red Star Over China. I encourage you to look it up. I was in tears after reading it, and have never stopped my interest in discovering the greatness of the revolution. If you have the chance to go to Nanjing, you should visit the Museum commemorating the massacre/ genocide of 300,000 Chinese folks. Indeed, travelers to China should take the opportunity when they are in China to learn as much about the civilization and history of China, (or any countries they visit, for that matter).Plus, you can appreciate why China has maintained sovereignty and see the importance of it! To understand the geopolitical tensions in the world today and to be rid of US led hegemony China’s history and colonialism the world over must be studied! i👍👍👍

@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vt what about the great leap forward? It was a direct revolutionary result of China being bullied by the western nations and the people finally saying ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, we need a revolution to improve the country. The US had their civil war, the French had their own revolutions, so did the English and countless other countries. What's so special about China's revolution and what's so great about YOU westerners that you think you have the moral superiority to poke your arrogant noses into China's internal business? Get off your high horse and address your own country's problems, whether you are American, European, Indian, English, Australian, Pinoy or whatever, all your countries have your own pathetic problems, from drugs to poverty to gun violence to war to neoconic politics. You don't have the right to lecture China about her history when most of your countries and cultures arent even as old as one of China's many dynasties, with less wisdom and civilisation than a minor village in China. And looking at your name you're likely European - you have even less rights than most to criticise China when you're people sailed around the world colonising, enslaving, robbing, murdering, stealing from other nations and cultures. So why don't you just F off as I see you constantly copy pasting your troll comments here.

@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vt Wow, such a rash statement. The census of the Great Leap Forward period showed most deaths were due to famine and the west's sanctions, the numbers have been amplified by the west to support their shrill anti-communist agenda of that time. The Cultural Revolution showed the population of China still increased. The Tiananmen Massacre was not a massacre, various western journalists who were on the spot have attested to it, it was concocted by the CIA as a massacre to demonize China after the failure of the CIA for regime change (which the CIA has and still doing).

If you immerse yourself in it, you will feel hopeless until you see how this group of people, a group with nothing, has changed everything, and you will be shocked.

Yes the foreign investment always plays an important role in the development of a country, but it is not the main reason of the rise of China. In the world there are many countries opening to western investment but there is only one China as the world factory. It is obvious that neither India nor Vietnam can become the next world factory, not to say Mexico. These countries even lack the peaceful society, stable power and necessary infrastructure for large scale manufacturing. I want to share with you a Canadian that every Chinese person knows:Norman Bethune (1890-1939), internationalist fighter, member of the Communist Party of Canada, thoracic surgeon. When German Fascists invaded Spain in 1936, he personally went to the front line to serve the anti-fascist Spanish people. At the outbreak of China's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in 1937, he led a medical team composed of Canadians and Americans to China in early 1938, arrived in Yan 'an at the end of March, and soon went to the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei border area, where he worked for more than a year. On November 12, 1939, he died in Tangxian County, Hebei Province. The article Outlines Comrade Bethune's experience of coming to China to help the Chinese people in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, expresses deep condolences for his death, highly praises his spirit of internationalism, his spirit of pursuing others without self-interest and his spirit of technological excellence, and calls on the whole Party to learn from Comrade Bethune. In this article, he said this about Bethune. It is a noble man, a pure man, a moral man, a man who is out of vulgar taste, a man who is good for the people. We all miss Bethune, and I wonder what people say about him in Canada?

      @testertttt 2 місяці тому

In 1972, the Canadian government declared Bethune “a Canadian of national historical significance”, creating the Bethune Memorial Home in his hometown of Gravenhurst, Ontario, Canada. He is thus described: “Professionally, Bethune gained international recognition as a skilful, dedicated surgeon; socially, he was more unorthodox. He was a complex man who could both antagonise and inspire.” Other Canadian institutions named in his honour are the Norman Bethune College at York University, Ontario, and the Dr Norman Bethune Collegiate Institute, a secondary school in Scarborough, Ontario. - www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5075949/

Bro, I appreciate your fair and friendly attitude. Too many Westerners are prejudiced against China or communism. When they hear the word "communism," they think of terror or 1984. But in fact, the Chinese people essentially do not care about any so-called "ism." We care about one thing: which path can make us richer and more advanced, freeing us from oppression and poverty. The Chinese people have tried almost every path that has appeared in the world, and finally discovered that only this path can lead us to rapid development in a short time. The Chinese have always been a nation most capable of enduring suffering, but as you may know, the pain a hundred years ago was unbearable. I believe no nation’s people can endure plagues, hunger, and wars-it was as if the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse had descended on China. Yes, it was like that a hundred years ago. But then, communism gave the Chinese people hope for rapid development. Just thirty years ago, when I was a child, I wished to have a piece of KFC chicken wing. For this, my mother chased me down two blocks because it was too expensive. What is ordinary daily food for Americans was half a month's salary for her. Thirty years later, I can eat whatever I want, whether it's KFC, McDonald's, or my favorite Burger King. I even need to control my calorie intake to maintain my figure. It's not just fast food; in fact, it's true for any food or anything I like. So-I do not deny the correctness of other countries' paths, but I believe they could not offer the Chinese people such rapid development. I prefer to witness all of this with my own eyes, rather than with my grandson's eyes. The most ordinary people in every country have a common desire, which is to bring happiness to everyone. I am glad we are on the path to overcoming suffering and achieving development.

@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vt You're correct. Sadly museums like this would only talk about the "positives". I'd wish that there would be museums in China that would talk about the Cultural Revolution etc., but with today's government that wouldn't happen. On the other hand, the majority of part of the video shown here is indeed some great stuff, talking about the early days of communist movements and ideologies, and in fact it reflects why the idea of communism was popular in China. In the west you'd never seen any good about at least the idea of early communism, and in China the opposite happens. Philosophies and history are not black and white, and it's rather difficult for people to realize that and be exposed to a more sophisticated viewpoint.

China has endured countless humiliations, signed numerous unequal treaties, and every educated Chinese person would feel indignant about this. The reason for the existence of such museums is to constantly remind the Chinese people to strengthen themselves and never allow the humiliations of the past to befall China again. At the same time, it is also hoped that peace-loving people around the world can learn about the history of the Chinese people's brave struggle through this and take it as a lesson. It is hoped that the future world can be as the plaque on the Tian'anmen Gate Tower says: "Long live the great unity of the people of the world!" Edit: Oh and the guy behind stalin and trotsky is probably Kamenev, sorta hard to tell.

I had a patient tell me one day, after telling her I was from HK, how horrible it was what China is doing to the place and that it should have never been given to China by the Brits. After telling her that it wasnt the Brits "giving" the place back and the brief history of the opium war, she looked confused. Then said, well "I'm sure you're glad you're here (in Australia) now". At that point I just said yes to shut her up and carried on with the rest of the consult as it was my job to test her eyes and not teach her history.

I don't care what labels or names people put behind a government or political party, the only metric that should matter to all of us is how and if the government delivers objective goals and services to its people. Thank you for a candid tour of the museum and showing some of China's history through your lens.
Also, the flag they kept showing in the museum wasn't the flag of China(5 stars on red background), but instead it was the flag of the Communist Party of China with communism's iconic hammer and sickle motif.

I was surprised to see a Canadian visiting the Party History Museum on UA-cam, it was amazing. In China, every province and city has its own city museum, showcasing the history of the city from ancient times to the present. These museums exhibit many precious and exquisite cultural relics. When I travel in China, visiting the city museums is a must. They are basically free of charge, although some popular museums require reservations through a WeChat mini-program or on-site. If you have time, you should definitely visit these museums.

Norman Bethune was a Canadian Communist Party member. He came to China as an international volunteer, used his medical skill to help us fought against Japanese invaders. Before he died of a surgical accident in a rural village of northern China, he wrote a letter and said that the time he spent in China was the most blessed time in his life. After he died, Chairman Mao Zedong wrote an article suggesting Chinese people to learn from him. All primary and secondary school students must read and remember this article in my childhood (1960s). Now a Chinese army medical university named after him. Chinese people will remember him forever.
