I actually think the unflattering color of the pink dress is intentional. It's not her dress. Her human outfits are representative of her relationship with Eric or humans as a whole. She wears the unflattering pink dress when she's still an odd mute girl they found on the beach but she changes to the blue dress when he starts to fall in love with her. It's an intentional mismatch that serves to highlight how out of place she is in the human world at first.

The problem is that strawberry shortcake is a THEMED character. She's a literal representation of a strawberry shortcake. Pink and red clash horrifically especially if a character isn't themed. This is, was, and always will be a horrible design choice.

The pink dress was actually meant to be a combination of all disney princesses (sleeve puff slashes from snow white, pink color, off the shoulders and long sleeves from Aurora, and skirt swoops from cinderella)
I love that when you were showing the pink dress, you were also wearing one and your cam was on the left side and the arm of your dress was over hers, it looked exactly the same
The blue outfit is one of my favorites disney princess outfits. Like I would wear that if i could. It's so cute and the color goes really well with Ariel.
