**CORRECTION** We now know the Mac Virtual Display feature works with Macs running Mac OS Sonoma as well as Intel machines. So that can be a Mac Studio or Mac mini or MacBook and MacBook Pro. I was told differently before and information changes during a release, so I just wanted to make that clear. Some of you have taken it VERY personally. Just relax. These things happen. Ha Brian! I'd just testing this on my AVP in hand for the past 45 minutes and was coming in here to post that my Mac mini works! Woo hoo! Good going dude.!
BTW, I'm got the Zeiss prescription inserts and, because it rained here a couple of hours ago, the inserts kept fogging up, fowling my eye tracking setup and forcing me to repeat the exercise repeatedly until I carefully dried my face, allowed the fog on the inserts to dissipate, and tried again. I've noticed that eye tracking setups performed without fogging gives me a faster and more accurate button selection after the setup is complete.
Huh… did not see anyone take it personally…

The User Interface is brilliant! Look at how whenever a new window pops up in the forefront, it pushes the rest of the content back, instead of pushing the new window forward. This is done this way to always keep your attention at the same depth. Because otherwise your eyes would get tired of constantly adjusting depth. You can see A TON of work went into designing this thing.
That’s what Apple does like no other
The WWDC videos go into even more detail about all the user interface considerations that have gone into this. The UI looks so much more elegant than the Tron interfaces we’ve been used to the past decade
One of the coolest things which isn't mentioned in any of the reviews I've watched, but which is visible in the screen recording, is how it blurs the things that you aren't directly looking at to save processing power. And the fact that no one is mentioning it is an amazing thing, because it means that it works really well.
It's foveating rendering, which is not a new technology nor new to VR headsets. It needs it because the M2 isn't powerful enough to multitask at 8k 90fps whilst rendering a full 8k image. Hence why it chugs when screen recording the full image. People aren't mentioning it because everyone is focusing on what this head set does that other headsets can't do, and what you will actually use the headset for. No one has answers to either.

Does Mac Virtual Display require you to be logged into the same Apple ID on the Mac as the Vision Pro?
When viewing the screen in Vision Pro like when watching a movie/ apps, do you see it in the goggle format (top and bottom of screen cut off with black bars) or do you really see it in widescreen like in the ads?
Are you able to connect them to phone services since WiFi isn’t available everywhere?
This is the first video where you can see the rendering is blurry wherever he isn’t looking. Such wild tech that it only renders full quality for what you look at and for him everything is crystal clear
Curious to see how long it takes for over air updates to happen. I didn’t see any USB-C connectors.

Extremely deceptive marketing I watched dozens of videos prior to purchasing this, and no one mentioned anything about limitations on what Mac’s we could connect.

Brian, how does wearing the headset compare with watching the screen capture video on a good monitor? Most negative comments by people who have watched the early video reviews focus on the unfavorable comparison between shaky, dim, and sometimes pixelated screen capture video in the reviews, compared with Apple's high-quality demo footage. Which better reflects the actual user experience?
You say virtual display doesn’t work with Mac Mini/studio? That’s a shock. They don’t clarify in any of the marketing materials… I can’t find anything to corroborate this.
Yeah, this is extremely horrible news that the dozens of videos I watched no one mentioned this as my reason for buying this was to connect to my Mac mini. Really upsetting.

See my correction at the top of the comments. Things do change and information can be different from what we are told and what happens. It does indeed work with a Mac running Sonoma.
Can you do different hand gestures like you can on iPadOS? It would be cool if instead of having to hit the digital crown every time to go to the home screen if you could squeeze your hand into a fist and it go to the home screen that way, kinda like you do on iPadOS, using the four finger pinch

The most important thing… Does it have activation lock and Find My support? What if it’s stolen or missing?

Interesting walkthrough. one question: why does the text of the UI sometimes gets really blurry? Does that only show up in the video recording or this blurriness happens in your actual view in the goggle too?
it could be optimisation
maybe it only renders at full resolution wherever you are focusing. Our human eyes field of focus is actually quite small, for example you can probably only see two words crisply reading this comment.
so why render the rest at full resolution and save power
because we are viewing his recording, we can focus on a different part of the screen than what he is focusing on and see the blur
but im guessing if you use it you won't notice that the things around you are rendering using a more efficient method
@@yyuuiko I get what you’re saying. Makes sense, but I don’t know if this is the actual case, because Apple never mentioned this type of optimization in their keynote and I don’t find any type of this information elsewhere.
@@wcw3836 yes it is just my speculation. I remember somewhere that meta does this as well to reduce computing requirements.

This a guitar-a microphone for new art show, like a music bands like Beatles before was on tour, now artist with projectors not a speakers and Vision Pro and iPads on stages doing shows! And people enjoy in serenity they family time and talk and eat^ I do show like that!

This is all super exciting. Too bad I don't have $4k lying around. I am not a developer and only earn average, but I definitely save for the upcoming "budget" version. Just for media consumption this is amazing. Remains to be seen if one can actually work with this, but I'd love to travel to Hawaii, Mt. Everest or the Titanic... Every day somewhere else for 30 minutes after work.
Did you actually test connecting it to mac mini / mac studio ? I mean already having limitation of ONLY one screen is bad...but limiting it to ONE product...that seems pretty insane when they run same CPU
It ONLY connects to MacBook and MacBook Pros with Apple Silicon. It does not currently connect to Macs. I'm working a Follow-Up to the EPIC Review that answers a lot details in a couple of days
That is going to piss off a lot of people. What’s even worse is Apple did not disclose the requirements prior to release. I contacted Apple support days ago for clarification around this and even they didn’t know. This is a potential dealbreaker for many including myself who has one ordered - and an awful move for Apple with a product at this price point.
@@de8931 yeah, this is... weird. I don't even understand why this limitation is there? The multiple display thing makes some sense because of bandwidth. But why wouldn't it work with desktop Macs with the same spec?

Can someone explain why the image goes blurry all the time, for a brief instant? I don't think this is a UA-cam compression artifact as I have seen the same happen in other Vision Pro video captures. It looks like the Vision Pro OS is doing the blur on purpose, but why? And when?
It's called foceated rendering. Your eyes do the same thing and only focus what you're looking at. This also allows headsets to not use all the processing powering rendering everything crystal clear, but it all looks crystal clear to you.
@@briantong Thank you for your answer, but I don't think it's what going on here. It turns out that making parts of the display blurry does not save any processing power. It actually requires MORE power, because making an image blurry requires applying a convolution matrix over the image. It's even worse in this case, because you are not applying this matrix uniformly (the matrix varies depending on where the user is looking at). Sure, GPUs make this easy, but it's still more work done somewhere, so more energy is consumed, and the Vision Pro already has a short battery life. Also, because our vision already does that, it's kind of pointless. Your iPad does not do that, and you are not noticing any problem, right? And finally, our peripheral vision is actually able to detect very sharp details: we can "sense" small insects and snakes there even if they are not moving, so it's not really about blurriness. So there must be another, deeper explanation. Maybe it helps with motion sickness because it hides a little bit of the discrepancy between the visual information and other senses? But there is definitely something interesting going on here, and if it's about motion sickness I'm not surprised Apple would try to conceal this with marketing speak about speeding up computations (which is not the case) and foveated rendering (which is probably pointless or else we couldn't even enjoy the big screen in a movie theater). I'm not saying it's the reason, it's just an hypothesis, but I don't buy the official answer at this point.

It’s seems like Vision Pro was made for Brian 😂 his persona works the best, the occlusion is the best in his videos compared to others I’ve seen. Everything seems to works perfectly for him but others have some little tiny issues here n there
