    In this video I demonstrate how easy to set up this batteries, modify the cabinet, organize all the cables, crimp some terminals, and replace a 200Amp fuse to a circuit breaker.

    I’m be aware of that these batteries will die by calendar aging but no one knows how long they last. I might able to use them for 30 years. Just having them and not buying fuel it is absolutely amazing. Since February I already saved $2200 just on fuel commuting to work. The power used for the whole house not even mentioned.

    Awesome setup. Looking to build my own large off grid system and yours is impressive. Very fun to watch

    you can probably fit a 3rd rack in between the 2 existing racks instead of mounting the 2 batteries in between both that would make the build look even nicer, but great job especially doing it alone nice cleanup of the existing cables

    • @offgridwithlaszlo
      @offgridwithlaszlo  8 місяців тому

      Thank you very much!! Yes, definitely it would fit but as I mentioned the batteries in the middle are 304Ah batteries with 10 year warranty and internal heating. It is just a higher quality battery for cheaper price. Now more manufacturers coming out better looking products but two years ago these items were very limited on the market.

    GREAT PROJECT!
    I wasn’t sure if you secured the batteries to the trolley in the event of them rolling around & falling off in a seismic event?
    YOU DID A GREAT JOB!

    • @offgridwithlaszlo
      @offgridwithlaszlo  8 місяців тому

      Thank you very much, No I didn't secure them. Each tower is about 700lb so they don't move around that easily. If I have to take them long distance for any reason, I will strap them to the trolley.

    LOOKS SO NICE !! Thank you for sharing. One thing I might ask? Do you feel ok with the two taller batteries standing up with out some covers? Like if someone where to set down a socket wrench on them. Would they be safe? Not at all trying to be that guy. Just care that you get the most out of your setup for as long as you can. Thanks so much. God Bless

      Thank you for the questions. I made terminal covers and the terminals are protected. Please check out my upcoming video soon when I install a windmill and connecting it to this battery bank so you will able to see the covers as well. The other reason I choose this set up because I will have a top connecting the two towers so I can use it as a battery charging station for tools. The terminals need protection all the time!! Thank you for your questions again!!

      Thank you!! No I didn’t because the tower came separately on freight, to send everything back would cast me over a thousand dollars. It saved my batteries to not shut off the system multiple times though. However I’m in a big project, expanding my solar array and everything else so if you check back later , it will be a different layout! Thank you for watching!!

      I live off grid and I know that can be done many different ways however I didn't want to give up comfort. Please check out my other videos , how I built this house, I have a sauna, electric heat, electric cooktop etc. Actually I will have an upcoming video about how much power I consume a year and even it seems a lot of storage, during winter months or so 8 cloudy days on a roll, hardly holds up. Thank you for watching!!

      @@offgridwithlaszlo Sounds like a small generator and half or a quarter of the battery capacity would have been cheaper.
      Fuel isnt too big of a cost if it only runs a few times a year.
      Considering those are LiFePo4 batteries they will die because of calendaric aging, not because of their cycle count in your setup, so its even a good idea to charge an electric car from them when someone with one visits you (or you have one) and its summer.

    I too have KiloVault HAB 7.5 kWh batteries but one does not power up. KiloVault is now defunct and we can’t contact or get any service from them. Have you had any challenges and can recommend how I can get this brand new battery working again?

      There are multiple reasons that BMS goes to sleep mode. Did you try to jump the battery to wake the BMS up?

    Wow 100kw, i thought my plan for 30k was alot. Nicely done though. A question for you though. What is your opinion on mixing batteries from different manufacturers going to the same inverter. They would all be lithium phosphate of course.

    • @offgridwithlaszlo
      @offgridwithlaszlo  5 місяців тому +1

      Thank you. Actually everything depends on your location and your application. If you want to live off grid and run everything on electric , especially winter months, sorry this 100 KWh storage is not enough. I will talk about this topic in my upcoming video. It is best if batteries are not mixed. However if you already have the batteries you can connect them safely at low state of charge and let them sit there for a day or two. If you have a battery charger , you can charge them up to 100% and connect batteries like that. Being different brand , please make sure you connect them when all batteries have the same voltage before you start charge them together. On the inverter, you have to program the absorb and float voltage. Even if you use different brand batteries try to buy the same AH . I also connected every battery to bus bars . Thank you for watching!!

      thanks for the explanation. I'm just trying to figure out how much battery I should buy. If in 1 year or so I find that I need more battery power and the same battery is no longer available, then what?.. and the reason for my question above? What you are saying makes sense but too involved for me. Might be safer to buy more battery now and not take a chance later. thanks again. @@offgridwithlaszlo

    That isnt a bad setup but its not the cheapest or easiest 100kwh setup. You could have bought an IFLA for much less that will also last just as long or longer, with no BMS worries

    • @offgridwithlaszlo
      @offgridwithlaszlo  5 місяців тому

      Well that is true. However if I go on that road, I have to buy twice as much because too much degradation happens at 50% or below. They are very heavy, and need constant maintenance. That is some expense and time as well. After two years I recycled these batteries 360 times some of them little bit less since I didn’t purchase them at the same time, so if I’m lucky the calendar aging will kill these batteries maybe in 20 years or so. I don’t think IFLA batteries would last even 10 years. Thank you for watching!!

    • @PartTimeYooper
      @PartTimeYooper 5 місяців тому

      @offgridwithlaszlo well you are very wrong in your assumptions on IFLA batteries. They can easily be discharged well past 50%, in fact, they are designed to be drained to 100% of their rated capacity. And their "maintenance" is adding some water maybe 3 times a year. You on the other hand must balance your batteries every 3 months or so. IFLA's run forklifts routinely for 10+ years at a time, and even then, they are easily reconditioned and ready for use in a solar setup. Amd at that point you might pay 5-10 cents on the dollar vs LiFePo4.
      And for weight, they are 2v cells, not much heavier than your EG4's.
