  • My daughter has been asking me all day long when I’m shouting my video, so don’t let her unenthusiastic appearance fool you.

Fantastic work! It's s a shame that many of the service members who served on the B-36 are not around anymore to provide input on your project. I met a few of them over the years, and they had vibrant memories of the aircraft. May future generations appreciate your diligence on preserving an important history. Finally, does your family help occasionally on the project? Thanks

If I beg, cry and roll around on the floor, occasionally my wife will hold the most demanding part for me when I can’t find my third hand.

To fix the ugly corner, I would use some good quality automotive body filler. Bondo is often used as a sarcastic term but at this point it's a 3M product and is probably pretty good as well as easy to find. It's just the sort of job you can make perfect simply by taking your time and filing it until the shape is just right. There is putty to fill scratches that dries quickly so it's all something a beginner can do beautifully just by being stubborn!

I’m no stranger to Bondo. However, I’ve seen instances where over time putties weaken and fall off. Eventually this thing will end up in a museum and I don’t want stuff falling apart. Otherwise, Bondo is an extremely powerful tool.

@@B36HPeacemaker You may be right. I would look into that because I wasn't aware it being an issue with good stuff, applied properly. Perhaps there are variables that we can control to get a stable result.

I remember there's only a few 36's remaining in the world, are you able to visit them for reference, do you have Convair's original drawings?

I have personally measured one B-36 and have measurements and photographs coming in from two others. I have no Convair drawings to work from.

Nope. Everyone got all worked up and then -poof- he vanished.
