I am also quite sad that when discussing Thranduil's badassery no one mentioned the fact that he's the only Elven ruler that does not possess a ring. That's why he's KING and not some Lord. He's held off the darkness on the Greenwood for so long with only his own resources and no fancy rings that can make magical river borders that sweep off your enemies when you will it.
I was so disappointed that the real reasons for Thranduil's obsession with the gems never really came through in the movie because of all the cutting they did. Not one mention of his wife in association with the gems came up in the movie. As a result, many people of the audience thought he went to war because he was so materialistic.
Casting Lee Pace was such a good choice. Say what you will about the overall quality of this trilogy, I sure have, but it does have some absolute bullseye moments.
"Those gems were not all your wife left you, my friend. She left you a son. Tell me, which would she have you value more?" WHY DID THEY CUT THAT FROM THE MOVIE!!?!?
Liv Tyler and Lee Pace absolutely embodied what Tolkien described as his elves. They outshine even Cate Blanchett and Orlando Bloom in how they took their place in the story.
When your father is hotter than you and he's single....

Thranduil doesn't have a Ring of Power, right? Which means he managed to protect his realm with his own power. Gods, I love him more.
Thranduil is the most beautiful character design I have ever seen... just amazing

So sad that they deleted a lot of the scenes that showed Thranduil's character development.
That moment when you realize Orlando Bloom is actually older than Lee Pace
just think. in 20 years, some fool is going to try to remake this film and all of us will show no mercy to him.

I'm so glad they didn't pluck his eyebrow

Whenever I see Thranduil, his entire bearing says: "Bitch, I'm fabulous." and it hasn't stopped making me laugh.
I love how Thranduil canonically wore flower crowns
Somebody needs to make a movie about Thranduil's early years, quick while Lee Pace is still young.
We need a reality show of Thranduil just running his kingdom, doing his daily routins and just being fabulous
I love that it seems like the entire crew refers to legolas as "leggy". it's beautiful

The way Lee Pace sits down at
So beautiful, yet masculine at the same time.
