Can you imagine the skill, knowledge and patience it took to make this monumental move? Peter Jackson is a legend and will go down as one of the greatest directors in history.
And he could have done The Hobbit films equally as well had the studio not plopped him into it at the last moment, refused to push back the end date, stretched 2 films to 3 films, and shoehorned in the cringiest love triangle of all-time.
If it were Peter's project from the beginning, he would have taken his time preparing it correctly, just like these films.
@@saltedllama2759 Yeah it's odd how someone can produce 3 master works, and studio's are still like "naw do it our way" just give the guy the funding and stay in your lane.
Yes, James Cameron did it on Avatar too
@@Jeremy-dy5zv I'm more impressed with the sheer number of people involved...... and watching something like this I am much more impressed with what editors do. How many snippets of film do they go through to piece together to make one coherent story. Way too tedious for me that's for sure. Hell.... most of these jobs are way too tedious for me.
Well, it's the effects guys, the technicians and the engineers. These are the real geniuses.
It’s been over two decades, and Hollywood will never produce anything like it again.
It's funny that the recipe is well known. Just pour more time and energy and passion into a movie and the better it will be. Not saying it's easy or would surpass lotr, but most things feel like from a production line instead of projects. Extract most amount of money and blah blah.
NEVER
Good movies are hard to come by. 😔 they have no depth anymore
Jackson is a genius and I have so much admiration for all of the actors who really lack the recognition they deserve because every single actor on set was a critical piece on this master chess board of a movie.
A Time Machine please. The early 2000s were a really great time
For you, perhaps.
Your personal experience is not shared by everyone you know.
@@al81yoo agree
I agree. Technologically speaking 2000-2010 was like the equivalent of going from lanterns to lightbulbs. If you weren't lucky enough to have been at least a teenager watching in real time how much everything changed then you could never understand. I'm aware I've just dated myself here. Yes I'd rather be much younger right now but not if it meant losing all the great times I had growing up.
@@al81yooNothing about the comment suggests he's speaking for anyone other than himself nor is there anything wrong with what was said. Touchy much?
Behind the scenes clips are phenomenal. All the hard work that went into this masterpiece
When I first saw fellowship of the rings back in 2001 I was totally focused on the movie. When I watched the making it blew my mind and had so much respect for all involved and how really big the full picture is.
I was only working weekends back then, and used to go see the film on my days off when no one was about. Eight times I saw it in the cinema. I could barely comprehend how amazing it was..I had the deluxe film OST and listened to it almost non stop.
It is still incredibly moving to watch all these people and their hard work.
I mean sure give Peter Jackson credit but god damn so many talented people worked on this without whom it wouldn't have been possible.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy was an epic without a doubt. It's a miracle that it happened. Nowadays, there's no way to repeat such a production.
The consistent, persistent, uncompromising passion and thoughtfulness that went into making this trilogy is why we had never seen anything like it before or since. We only wish the studio and Pete had agreed, together, to do The Hobbit before it had gotten underway so the same preparation and effort could have gone into that one. We would have had 2 more (instead of 3) brilliant films in the universe, instead of the rushed, but also stretched thin mess we were given.
Holy cow, it seems like the production used Augmented Reality to mock Balin’s tomb scene. I didn’t think that technology was around in 1999 - 2003. Peter Jackson and his whole team are geniuses!
It still makes me sad that we will more than likely never see another set of movies made like this again ever
These movies are like beautiful artwork
The LOTR movies changed my life and gave me hope for the and world.
I remember watching it with my grandmother and it was EPIC!
Fellowship has been my favorite film for 20 years..from young age of 10..amazing to see how it was made.. so much effort.
10:19 damn, the fact that this scene, including many others ones, have been recording in real location is just purely fantastic
And to think Sean Bean was so adverse to flying he walked up to the snow for that shot. I was fortunate enough to be an extra as part of the NZ Army still a life moment that I’ll never forget. Got to chat with Sean Austin between takes when filming the orc camp in Mordor Sam and Frodo get caught up in, they start a fight so we as the orcs close up around them and the overseers can’t get to them before the sneak off
So lucky!!!
Orcas! I don't remember seeing any orcas in Mordor! You must be talking porky pies! 🐖 🥧
Sorry, I'm drunk. Take no mind in my nonsense! ❤️🍑
@@SweetPeteUnleashed no mention of orcas mate and I really don’t care if you believe it or not.
@@KZ900R Why so serious Mr grumpy grumps? You literally did mention orcas and I'm just taking the pi££ as mentioned in my second comment. Sheesh. You internet folk are so ridiculously touchy nowadays. Reeelax. 😅
The appreciation of this movies is unlimited❤
So many behind the scenes clips that I haven't seen before. THANK YOU!
I'm absolutely astonished about how sound for bucket scene in Moria was recorded. Masterpiece!
peak of filmmaking art
Love these LOTR behind the scenes documentaries, thank you !
The use of miniatures in these movies are outstanding. it looks better than CGI because it's really there. It's just excellent camera trickery to make it appear larger.
30:11 Galadriel, you’re welcome
I wish Peter Jackson would make movies of the Elizabeth Moon trilogy, "The Deed of Paksenarion". It would be tremendous!
Unbelievable, the amount of work and skill that goes into this film series. Hats off to all involved.🙏
3:25, his explanation of the smoke is superb! The blending of a smoky to clear pass is the magic ingredient.
Wow, It never really occurred to me just how much work and specialty was involved in the making of this all-time Block Buster!
I can see passion and commitment of all people behined the scene.
Lord of the Rings is and will always be the greatest movies of all time.
One of the best works of art ever made by a man. Good thing no one will be able to take it away from us, not even the modern political agenda
greatest trilogy ever, and im a diehard star wars fan. But this is peak, never will ever get better
Star Wars for kids sorry
@@Bbloeoes it didn't used to be...now it is, and its now written by "adults" with child level brain activiity

pure genius ..
39:28 take examples of dedication and devotion people. Well people that's why we will always Love you! You gave so much for a film that almost everything we had the chance to see it on the Most Immortal Trilogy Ever! And we Thank you for these effrots Men and Women of LOTR whole Cast!!
Pretty sure the catering budget for LOTR was bigger than the entire budget of the last Spider Man...
All movie had 94 milion dollars budget so it is less then most of the movies today that have hundreds of millions and are so bad in the end
Christopher Lee was a legend
Wow great stuff, congratulations 🎉
Great work

LORD OF THE RINGS AND GAME OF THRONES ARE FORVER CAN WATCH AGAIN OVER AND OVER.
And I played the Pony!
so much talent, so many professionals
You see all these props, but at no point did you ever feel like a prop was too unreal or out of place. Everything with the design just draws you into the movie and you stay right yhere
I thought i knew quite a bit about the filming but i had no idea about bill the pony
I have been watching hours and hours of behind the scenes stuff of LOTR and this has footage I have not seen before. I am rather amazed!
32:51 Chad Boromir chilling with an arrow in a chest
It makes my incredibly sad and happy at the same time….. this masterpiece was created 20 years ago… a time by which I didn’t even exist. I’m 14 now and I don’t know anyone my age who read the books or seen these movies. I just wish I was 15 or 20 years older
It was amazing to experience these films when they were first released. It was three years of movie magic.
Sounds absolutly wonderful 🥰 but I only found out this weekend that they will play them in cinema in my town in autum so I will see them on the big screen! A very Hartwich of mine coming true
Good on you for watching these movies so many years ahead of the time they came out ❤️
@jonathanbirch2022 ok yeah you’re right… even longer 😭
I love it...I am living in this film..❤❤❤❤❤thank you very much... unbelievable excellent expensive experience I got from this...❤❤❤❤❤
I want Christopher Lee to adr my life. What distinguished voice!
You see the pure dedication for an unmatched masterpiece.
Epic! 👏👍
I would give my life just to be in the set!
The bag guy really cant live this down
6:57 Legit Authentic Hobbits with some impostor hobbits
i couldnt imagine editing anything for that movie on those dual 15" monitors.
Fantastic I like it🙂
2:33 Saraman 🤯
this is rosh homan from future im watching this 2028 and im from ceylon
What software animation?
See this is called Acting and movie making,,,something the rings of power cast will never understand lol. They sit around infront of their green screens and barely practice there facial expressions lol.
So funny 33:32 😂
15:58 😂😂😂
it's funny saruman obey the director
💚💚💚💚
Neden Türkçe altyazı yok?
This is what makes LOTR stand out from all other films made now is the use of miniature 3D sets. All of the Harry Potter movies were green screen and CGI that looked like trash. They dont even compare to the quality.
Animator in 2000-2005 is great, low PC and how long render animation like this 😂
The oompa-loompas are also in LOTR ?
Wait, what? He’s trying to film and give us perspective? Wait I thought the whole thing was filmed in middle earth, not a “set” 😂
7:45 wtf is happening here. What hobitses walk around in a parking lot like that?
❤️🤩💗🥰😍
All those chain-mails made by hand can be 3D-printed now.
filming a movie must be the worst experience ever
So it was fake all along!?
What you call fake is the name for hard work to make a movie realistic in times with less computer influence.
@@Der_wahre_C17 It was meant as a joke...
"So many different layers... " of APPEAL. This entire case is so full if legal holes, I get it that they want Trump out, but can't appeals begin now?
there is no diversity on set. must say Rings of Power did it better!
Hemorrhoids is a helluva thing
Una obra de arte
Not a lot of blue haired/women on the set. If you ever wondered why movies and shows suck today.
and now with the tech we have they make a shitty avengers movies lol
I would have volunteered my time to be on set 😭
4:05 this is hilarious 😂 the other one understand nothing😂
Fucking genius guy and damn legend ❤ the hard serious work with so much talent make wonderful art 🖼️
Go finish eating your carrot Peter.
Amazon need to watch this
I was expecting to fast skip through this. Boy was I wrong
If only they still made movies this way with the current technology we have it would be absolutely insane.
