Hey SJ!! Can you do a list of Southern Gothic names? I know that's sort of a strange list... but I'm writing a book and I'm trying to think of old-style Southern names but also some modern ones that could do the trick. I trust you the most in the name department 😊 thank you!
I wondered how many other writers came here for inspiration! When I think of southern gothic names (I’m from Georgia) I think of Althea, Delphine or Daphne, Elizabetta (and the nicknames there are endless! Eliza, Liza, Betsy, Betty, Bess), Tallulah, Juliette. Boy names like Ephraim, Beau, Orson or Otis, and August come to mind also.
@@victoriagodfrey8627 thank you for the suggestions!! I have so many name ideas now. I always wonder how many people are writers as well... SJ's videos are truly a god send for us 😂

I think Eirian depends on where you’re from, my family is Welsh and we would pronounce it Eye-ree-un. It’s similar to the girls name Eira (Eye-ruh) white means snow in Welsh
I like Halina and Quilla from this list! I don't want any of my names too trendy haha but ones I think could get more trendy include Emrys, Ellington, Alden, Booker, Oslo, and Torin is already on its way up. For girls I'd say Flora, Greer, Landrie, Adelise, and Arrow
Eirian sounds too much like "Aryan" to me, which is what the Nazis called people with blonde hair and blue eyes who were considered the "superior race", I wouldn't feel comfortable using it
Oh yes - I hadn't made the association with the sound but you're right it is similar. Thank you for pointing that out; so good to have made the link as it passed me by xxx
"Aryan" is an english pronunciation. Naturally it sounds differently in german. The name Arjen (same pronunciation) is a very common name in the Netherlands.
I'm Welsh & would probably say the "ei" at the start of Eirian as sounding like the letter A / the end of the word "thEY" so more like "ey-ree-anne" purely because the word/name "Eira" is pronounced this way xx
I know someone named Kaira who pronounces it ky-rah (like Kyla, but with an "r" instead of the "l"). I think this pronunciation makes a great female alternative for people who like the Hawaiian name, Kai.
Hi SJ! I saw this video and noticed you rather liked Taylen! My name is Taryn and I was told it originated in South Africa. The meanings are diverse: Beautiful sky (Indian) Thunder (female version of Tyrone) or Rocky Hill (Irish) I’ve never seen my name in all of your lists so thought I would share. Thank you ☺️
I’m expecting my 5th child, have just discovered your channel SJ and I love it! I’m enjoying the more unusual but still conventional names and the meanings are important to me too. My own name is Lucinda which means ‘beautiful light’ which I love. I enjoy the uniqueness and I’ve never met another! xxx
I have never seen my favourite name ANYWHERE!! It’s Aili pronounce eye-lee, in German and Irish is means bright light which I love 🥰 it’s a lovely alternative to the popular name Isla 🌸

Husband isn't really into any of them he is set on having another boy and wants the name to be Cornelius or Vincent. Open to anyone's ideas at this point
I can't believe that you have never had a Lowen on your list before. I live in Cornwall, and we have a few Lowen's in school ... A boy Lowen in my daughter's year group, and a girl Lowen in the year below!!! 😍 It is a beautiful name ... Really rolls off the tongue! Another fab name list x

I love the names with the r’s in it. You say i them so pretty! I’m hesitant to use an name like Aria because I’m from America and as u know they always use the really hard r and I don’t like it in my accent. 😂
Name theme suggestion for a future video... Rare/unique Hebrew names? I feel like there are some that are just soo common and others that I could never see being used today. Just thought that it might make for an interesting video.
I LOVED SJ’s video titles Unique Hebrew Baby Names for Boys and Girls. So much so that I did some research of my own. Here are a few that I found and personally like: Amos (ah-moss OR ee-moss) - to carry, borne by God Ari- lion or lion of God, a diminutive of the more commonly heard Ariel (ah-ree-el) Avi - my father, a diminutive of the names Avraham or Aviram Gavriel (gahv-ree-el) - my strength is God. My Hebrew name is actually Aliza Gavriella Lior (lee-or) - my light or I have light Noam (no-ehm) - pleasantness Oren - pine tree Ori - my light Romi (ro-mee) - meaning my height, my exaltation. Is the feminine form of Rom Shai (shy) - gift Tamar - date, palm tree. Is the #1 girls name in Israel as of 2019 Uri (yuh-ree OR oo-ree) - my light, my flame, my enlightenment
I really like the name 'Lars' which is very similar to Mars. Lars means crowned with Laurel which makes it a strong name but also has a link to nature x
I knew a girl in school called Calista (or Kalysta). From what I found it's Greek meaning "she who is most beautiful". I have always loved that name and haven't met anyone else with it!
Hi SJ! My best Friends nephew is called Lowen - and they live in Cornwall! He will be 6 on his next birthday so I have known this one for a while. Lovely name 💙
My name is Alyce pronounced Alice I love my name so much I love the vintage of Alice and I love it with a y even more if you want to share it on any platform like UA-cam or something else because this name is so unique
Honestly for a while I thought I was the one who came up with the name Kaira I came up with it as a fanfiction character for two of my favorite characters in the video game kingdom hearts. though personally I would pronounce it as Kuh-eye-ruh but that's just me. Love your videos SJ!! :)
im not sure if its just me but im in canada and cant access your pinterest on my regular pinterest. If i click your link it brings me to co.uk and wont open in my app and none of my boards or saved topics or preferences are there 😔 its like a whole new account
oh my goodness. how have i only just found you!? i need a middle name to go with freya , i have a florence marie already and would love something to go with that for my baby girl due in november, please help!
Hi, Congrats! Florence Marie is gorgeous. I think that Florence & Freya work great as a sibling set. They both start with F yet have different sounds. They seem very similar in style and give me a sophisticated yet fun, almost floral vibe. I’d give Freya a different middle initial so they are seen as individuals. Here’s some ideas: Florence Marie & Freya Rose Florence Marie & Freya Rosalind Florence Marie & Freya Juliet Florence Marie & Freya Alice Florence Marie & Freya Lark Florence Marie & Freya Louise Florence Marie & Freya Celeste Florence Marie & Freya Odette Florence Marie & Freya Collette Florence Marie & Freya Beatrice Florence Marie & Freya Catherine Florence Marie & Freya Elouise Florence Marie & Freya Lynn Florence Marie & Freya Lilac Florence Marie & Freya Annabel Florence Marie & Freya Willow Florence Marie & Freya Charlotte Florence Marie & Freya Poppy Florence Marie & Freya Jean Florence Marie & Freya Noelle Florence Marie & Freya Poem Florence Marie & Freya Corrine Florence Marie & Freya Cordelia Florence Marie & Freya Lyric Florence Marie & Freya Lucille Florence Marie & Freya Jeanette Florence Marie & Freya Josephine Florence Marie & Freya Wren Florence Marie & Freya Evelyn Florence Marie & Freya Olive Florence Marie & Freya Lorelei Florence Marie & Freya Briar Florence Marie & Freya Summer Florence Marie & Freya Pearl Florence Marie & Freya Caroline Florence Marie & Freya Bryony Florence Marie & Freya Juniper Florence Marie & Freya Belle Florence Marie & Freya Eve Florence Marie & Freya Claire Florence Marie & Freya Opal Florence Marie & Freya Esme Florence Marie & Freya Ivy Florence Marie & Freya Snow Florence Marie & Freya Ann Florence Marie & Freya Iris Florence Marie & Freya Esther Florence Marie & Freya Isabelle Florence Marie & Freya Lux Florence Marie & Freya Saige Florence Marie & Freya June Florence Marie & Freya Imogen Florence Marie & Freya Hazel Florence Marie & Freya Ruby Florence Marie & Freya Elise Florence Marie & Freya Estelle Florence Marie & Freya Elizabeth Florence Marie & Freya Scout Florence Marie & Freya Adeline Florence Marie & Freya Paige
Can anyone think of an alternative to Ronan? We are only 6 weeks along and Hubby mentioned it the other day but I think it’s a bit harsh. We have discussed Rupert or Rowan but any other suggestions would be muchly appreciated 🥰
Hi, I would be delighted to meet a little Rowan or Rupert! I agree that Ronan sounds a bit harsh. More ideas: Roman Remy Roland Roy Raymond Ray Rhys Reeve Rufus Remus Rogan Reyes Rhett Rhodes Roscoe Royce Rylan Rory Rowin Rowen
Easiest follow on Pinterest ☺️ For girls, I really like: •Corvina which means raven-haired, •Verena which could mean winner, true, or white depending on the language of origin, •Rheva which means to bind, and •Farrow which is a surname first name coming from Medieval English and French origin. For boys, I really like: •Dusk which of course means between day and night, •Rex which means king in Latin, •Lykos which is a Greek version of the Latin Lycus meaning wolf, •Finnic which I believe is connected to Phoenix somehow, and •Rovan which I’ve read means dazzling. I look forward to visiting your page for name ideas ☺️☺️
Halina is cute! Hali means 'hug' in Finnish. 😍
Ahhhhhhhhh that's such an amazing nickname!!! xxxx

it's a pretty awful old lady name in Polish tho... sorry to ruin that xD

Just followed your Pinterest page! ❤️
I am from Cornwall and my best friend is called lowen and I've never heard it on a list so I got really excited 😂
Asterin is awfully close to aspirin. I'd be cautious.
That's true - I love hearing everyone's associations as we all bring something else to a name! xxx
And Asterix...
🤣🤣 gosh that’s so true! Didn’t think of that one!! X
Damn I loved it until you pointed that out lol thanks though! Best know now
I knew someone in college named Allegra. Thought it was quite pretty despite it also being the name of a drug product.
Lowen and Taylen sound so cool 🤩 I love the names Braelyn and Rowan. I think those are very pinterest-y 😄
I head the name Meramelle and I just think it’s so cute!
