Only been to this park once 30 years ago when I was still in grad school. Two things I still remember are the fresh lobster at a roadside restaurant just before entering the island and watching sunrise on top of Cadillac mountain. Can't wait to go back with my family
I've been going to Acadia every other year or so for the past 25 years. It's gotten much more popular (and more expensive for lodging) over the years. So many wonderful memories. My favorite thing to do is cycle the many miles of carriage roads. Absolutely wonderful job with this video! Thanks!
Thanks guys for sharing Acadia in the Fall. It is a special place with the fall colors, mountains, lakes, and ocean, oh yeah, and the strawberry jam on popovers. It was great to see again the places we hiked and visited.
Yay for PARK #41. Our Parks never fail to amaze me. Love seeing Acadia through your eyes. Watching this as the sun sets on Smoky Mountains. What a life!
My favorite day is when A+K has a new video out. That sunrise view was awesome!!! And Adam, you cracked me up unintentionally while watching. “This trail isn’t dog friendly because there’s a ladder”. Kathryn in the background “there’s four”. “Oh there’s four ladders?” 🤣🤣
That sunrise is definitely a bucket list item!✅ Glad I got to enjoy it with you while sitting in my warm house!🤣 Thanks for the amazing views & another perfect vlog! Hugs to Kona!❤️
I spent my honeymoon on Mount Desert Island back in 1992. We stayed at a home in South west harbor that my wife's boss owned and gave us use of as our wedding gift. Acadia is a beautiful park, the stone bridge's are incredible. We ate Lobster every day at a roadside shack just over the bridge on the mainland 2 whole lobsters, fries and a drink for $ 13. Looking forward to going back someday.
@@AdventuresofAplusKfor some reason we were always too tired to make it to see the sunrise on Caddilac mountain ! Hopefully you made it to Bass Harbor lighthouse.
We didn’t this time. We heard parking is a nightmare, which would be more of a nightmare in our huge van, so it didn’t seem worth the hassle for us this time.
I grew up going to Acadia but didn't really get off the main road and start appreciating it until I went back during college and started exploring it on my own (with my now husband). Even spent our honeymoon there after getting married at the Bar Harbor Inn. So excited that our kids are finally old enough to start exploring with us when we go back every year.
Acadia was our first National Park back in 1981. We were living in Western Massachusetts at the time and decided to do Acadia and Bar Harbor 4th of July week. They did the fireworks from Bar Harbor there must have been 500 boats anchored to see them. It was busy but we got to see so many beautiful 😍 light houses and the views were amazing. Loved the sunrise you guys did on Cadillac and kudos for carrying Kona up that steep part of the trail. The fall colors 😍 were breath taking with the lakes and ocean all around. And thank you for all the History you share when you travel I love the History about a place that you are visiting. Like Jordan Pond house.
What an amazing first national park! We bet those fireworks were so gorgeous! We’re so glad to hear that you like the history that we share, we have loved getting to learn it!
Definitely one of my favorite national park. Enjoyed my time with my parents there. Thank you for sharing your memories and activities. It feels like I revisited the place after watching your video!! 😎🤩
Acadia is just so beautiful. The colors are amazing. All the hikes looked great but the ladders looked like a blast! So fun! And.... butt grab!!! Wow Kathryn! lol
I used to live in New England, and have been to Acadia National Park at least six times. It really does have it all - mountains, forest, lakes, and ocean. But it also has some of the best food in the country just outside, and you can also find music and more. We would have gone at least two more times if we hadn't moved to Minnesota 18 years ago.
The Jordan pond hike was definitely a trail favorite of ours… we did have tea and pop overs at the Jordan house and thought the pop overs were good (the stadium cafe in bar harbor pop overs with the homemade jam were so much better than Jordan pond) … one thing we noticed with the hiking on Acadia is to get out and hike first thing… we would hike for a hour before seeing anyone… great video friends
Thanks for the incredible videos! I watch as soon as the video drops. I watch again with my husband who is now hooked on your videos too. The northeast is definitely on our list of places to go after watching your videos. Thanks again!

Hello Adventurers😊😊😊, so thrilled that y'all are enjoying Acadia National Park! Acadia is ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR with so many places to hike and rock climbing to explore. We love Cadillac Mountain and have seen sunsets and sunrises atop this BEAUTIFUL mountain. The views just take your breath away! I hope y'all didn't forget to have some delicious LOBSTER rolls. I can't wait to see what's next👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍!
It's fun watching you guys experiencing those challenging hikes .😊 The ladders were exciting !! The views were the best . This was another wonderful video 🤩🤩
I'm having Acadia flashbacks and popover envy!!!! Cadillac Mountain at sunrise, magical AND cold....brrrrr. I was at Acadia very early in May a few years ago and Jordan Pond hadn't opened for the season yet. I was so sad to miss the popovers. Great video, as always! Makes me want to go back to Acadia and have a popover!
Acadia is so gorgeous…I knew it would be but WOW! Those popovers looked amazingly delicious! And…I NEED to mention the ladders! 😝 Great job as always❣️
My traveling days are over for good, so I really appreciate great videos like yours that take me to such wonderful places with your fantastic enthusiasm, camera work, and editing. This was a real joy to watch. :-)
Awesome, awesome views. That Beech Cliff Ladder hike looked like some great bang for your buck. Surprised it was so dead on that trail considering you were there mid-October. We were supposed to go to Acadia during summer 2020 but COVID had other plans, so it's cool to see it through your eyes. We'll definitely go back at some point and your vid just makes me want to speed up the return. Nice job by the way timing the cuts to the music beats.
We were pretty shocked as well! We hear that summer is the busiest season at Acadia, but the fall colors brings a lot of people too. Thankfully we were able to explore on weekdays and I guess for some reason people just don’t go to that side of the park as much. But we loved Acadia and highly highly recommend it!
Aaah your depiction of the park in Autumn is everything I hoped it would be. Sunrise was magical, even though it looked freezing! The rocks up Cadillac Mountain were giving me serious Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia vibes. If as you guys say, you love mountains, lakes and the ocean, you'll love Snowdonia in Wales... and the Assynt region waaaaay up at the top of Scotland 😉 Yorkshire puddings are just the best. If there's one on a Sunday roast then you know you're winning! A few years ago, a café up in York made flat ones to turn a roast into a burrito made with Yorkshire pudding for the wrap, and I think the wait times were something about as long as what you experienced at the Jordan teahouse! Did you guys have any Yorkshires when you were last over this way? Wondering since Kathryn you said it the popover wasn't like anything you'd had before. That squirrel on the Beech cliff trail was just too much. ❤️ I can't get my head around why the ladder trail was deserted, it looked like tonnes of fun! So pleased you have a 2nd video coming from this park as I loved this one!
We want to visit Nova Scotia so badly! That’s definitely high on the list of places to go to in the next couple years. And we’re definitely dying to go to Wales and back to Scotland. We didn’t have any Yorkshire pudding when we were there I don’t believe, so we will have to try that whenever we come back your way. That burrito sounds awesome though, Adam would love that!
Wow! Acadia in the fall is so magical. I didn’t think it be possible for this park to get any more beautiful but seeing the fall foliage in your video proved that I am very wrong. These were such great vlogs on the park and you picked great trails and stops. The scenery you captured was spectacular. A+ video (as always). Acadia is one my favorite parks. I stopped trying to rank them long ago. It’s an impossible task. Acadia is very sentimental to me. From vacations as a kid to me taking my kids to their first National Park. Just great memories here and can’t wait to come back. Still need to do the Precipice and Beehive trails. Also haven’t ventured to the parks other units, Isle au Haut and the Schoodic Peninsula.
We were so excited for Acadia for so long and it really lived up to the hype. It was fantastic! Especially in the fall That's how we feel. There's no sense in trying to rank them. Yeah, you're likely going to put the usuals at the top (Yosemite, Glacier, etc), but they all offer something wonderful that make them unique so we choose to enjoy and appreciate them all for what they offer. With that said, if we made a list Acadia is near the top of it for us haha We can't wait to go back and see more!
Ooo I can't wait to see the next video! I have a funny feeling I know which trail you all did next 😊 My boyfriend took me on the Precipice and I had no idea it was going to be the scariest hike of my life!! We did it though and it was so worth it!
Great video, as usual. I'm glad you were able to drive up and had a relatively clear, if cool, morning atop Cadillac Mountain. Beautiful sunrise! I've hiked up it on a summer day, but I wouldn't want to try that hike in the cold and dark. If Beech Cliff Trail was the warm up, I'm guessing the hike in the next installment is the Beehive. I hope you had fun, and am looking forward to more videos. Safe travels!
Loved this video! We went to Acadia in September and LOVED the Jordan Pond to South Bubble hike! So glad you guys did a video there! We did Precipice as well and we are guessing that was your hike the next morning 😅 looking forward to that video as well! We discovered your channel little over a year ago when we were trying to find things to do in Jacksonhole/Grand Teton & Yellowstone! You guys were a huge help in planning that trip with us 😆 we found Delta Lake & huckleberry ice cream thanks to you two! ❤️
Awesome. This is one of our favorite parks. It’s so densely packed too with things to do. We went when there was no reservation system for Cadillac but you still had to get there an out before sunrise if you wanted a chance to get a spot.
We bet the parking filled up quickly when reservations weren’t required! While a hassle to get them, we do like when the parks take some measures to keep crowds down!
@@AdventuresofAplusK agreed, although we prefer an ahead of time reservation system. nothing's worse than using your precious vacation time and not being guaranteed something you drove across the country for!
Absolutely! The two day before thing for Cadillac Mountain was nerve wrecking (I was so anxious haha) if you aren’t able to secure a spot 90 days before!
@@AdventuresofAplusK you two are constantly moving too and I suspect your channel funds your lifestyle. I don’t know your schedule but the anxiety and lack of ironclad plans would kill me 😁
Fall colors! I love it. I would love to go there one day. I don't know that we could climb those ladders at our age, we probably would have to take an easier route. Thanks.
Nice to see Acadia in full Fall, usually we're there in May and September when the crowds are smaller, Summer is Very crowded since lately the US population seems to have discovered Acadia... looking at license plates and unique vehicles from everywhere could be a side project... In Spring Acadia is an amazing light green and it lasts until late June. I also recommend Asticu Garden in early June for the azalias and Thuya Garden in September for the salvia and dahlias. Little Long Pond for the moss. These are part of the Land and Garden Trust land near Northeast Harbor. For non climbing beautiful trails: Hadlock Pond, Ship Harbor, Wonderland and The Valley Trail (same parking lot to Beach Mtn)
Thanks for all of the tips! We were glad to beat those summer crowds and didn’t think the fall crowds were too horrible. National parks are all extra busy since COVID, so we expected a lot worse!
Nice! I’m glad you guys got to enjoy the views. When I went there a couple years ago it was really cloudy and foggy and dreary the entire trip. Had no views to reward my hiking efforts, and my Bar Harbor whale watching trip even got canceled. I was pretty bummed, but still enjoyed it for the most part.
Great video, y'all! We visited Acadia NP this time last year and it truly surprised us as well. It's currently one of our favorites for the diverse nature, fun hikes / scrambles and Bar Harbor close by. Hope you got to do the Beehive hike while you were there!
Great video guys. You can hike to both North and South Bubble from the Bubbles parking lot and it's much easier. You don't have the steep climb that you do from Jordan Pond, and was easy to do with our dog.
Yeah we definitely didn’t pick the best route haha 😅, but we were concerned our van would be too big for that lot and that we wouldn’t be able to park the van at Jordan Pond later for popovers, but would love to try a different route next time!
You two remind me of Eric & Allison Bieller of The Endless Adventure . He says “Pillowy”also. Saw them on UA-cam in Cinque Terra, Italy. They also travel in a van. I really enjoy traveling with y’all!
You guys have the best travel videos! I look forward to watching them every week. Definitely check out Old Rag Mtn in Shenandoah National Park if you’re still on the East Coast.
We were sooo close to booking a trip to Maine in October and watching your videos has me so bummed we didn’t click “submit” on our reservations. But next Fall we’ll be Maine bound and I am sure we will rewatch your videos!
We will probably do another Q&A when we hit 100K subscribers (because that just seems like the thing to do to celebrate 😂), but our first video of 2022 will be sharing our travel plans for next year! And it’s gonna be good!
We weren't impressed with Acadia. Mainly because it was overrun with people. So we changed plans and went up to the far more stunning Baxter State Park. Phenomenal!
That’s a bummer to hear. We actually expected it to be much busier and found quite a bit of solitude. Our van and Kona aren’t allowed in Baxter State Park, and while we had planned to rent a car and get a sitter so we could hike up Katahdin, the $300 for both seemed a bit steep this time to do that, but we would love to go there on a trip without the van or Kona.
Beautiful sunrise but curious why you didn't wait in the van until closer to sunrise? Is it quite a hike from the parking lot to the area that you were at? Those hikes had amazing views and so glad you showed them to me so I don't have to do it. I have a "thing" with heights and you guys got to close to the edge for my comfort! LOL
Some of the best colors were about an hour before as the sky started to get a reddish glow! It was so beautiful! 😍 We also wanted to get a good spot and since filming makes everything take a lot longer, we wanted to ensure we had plenty of time to get all of the shots we wanted. You may not want to watch our next video then haha! 🙈
I’m sure you’ve answered this in previous videos, but wondering what you do with Kona on non-dog friendly hikes? Does she stay in the van? We’re going to Acadia next month and I’m trying to figure out if it’s the best route to bring our pup or not. Thank you! Love your videos! Keep up the great content!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
We have a blog post that we share how we trace with Kona: adventuresofaplusk.com/full-time-van-life-with-a-dog-tips-for-traveling-with-a-dog/ Hopefully that helps answer some questions If you’re still planning what to do there, we also have a few guides and itineraries on our website for Acadia Thanks and thanks for watching!
That’s just how the national parks are unfortunately. Lots of amazing spots in the US that are just as beautiful as the national parks, but without crowds!

We got married at Jordan pond in 2018 and did a ton of hiking with our wedding photographer after.
Acadia is our special park.
What an epic place to get married! 😍😍😍
Yorkshire pudding is supposed to be served with gravy. Delicious!
We will have to try Yorkshire pudding next time we make it to England!
Especially in the fall
That's how we feel.
You nailed it! 😜🙌🏼 Excited to share it!
Omg I would never see a British person eating yorkshire pudding with jam :p It's funny to see yall doing this!
Those darn popovers play by their own rules! 😜
Perfect
❤️
Great video, as usual. I'm glad you were able to drive up and had a relatively clear, if cool, morning atop Cadillac Mountain. Beautiful sunrise! I've hiked up it on a summer day, but I wouldn't want to try that hike in the cold and dark. If Beech Cliff Trail was the warm up, I'm guessing the hike in the next installment is the Beehive. I hope you had fun, and am looking forward to more videos. Safe travels!
We got lucky since it had rained for days before! And your guess is close! 😉
Your guess is correct! We are so glad that our Wyoming videos helped you on your trip! And that you got to have some huckleberry goodies 😋🙌🏼
DANG!! ACADIA!!
Pretty gorgeous, eh?
I missed ya'll by a day! At least you escaped all the rain that weekend!
We climbed all the ladder trails in the rain : |
The rain was crazy! Props to you for doing the ladders in the rain!
Thanks.
There is thankfully a way around those ladders, so anyone can enjoy the views at the end!
Thanks A+K
That is such a bummer! It rained for days before our visit, so we got lucky.
Great video, y'all! We visited Acadia NP this time last year and it truly surprised us as well. It's currently one of our favorites for the diverse nature, fun hikes / scrambles and Bar Harbor close by. Hope you got to do the Beehive hike while you were there!
The mix of hikes and scenery and just makes it such an awesome park! And we didn’t do the beehive, but we did a very, very similar one!
We loved Acadia! We also just really enjoyed Maine in general despite being in the middle of a nor'easter lol
Oh dang! I must’ve been pretty wild!
Hey! This is my home state and we were there this weekend!!!
We’ve been there 11 times since 2004
Wow! Jealous!
16:33 Kathryn is so cute!!!🤣🤣🤣
Hahahaha glad you enjoy the weirdness 😜😜
You two remind me of Eric & Allison Bieller of The Endless Adventure . He says “Pillowy”also. Saw them on UA-cam in Cinque Terra, Italy. They also travel in a van.
I really enjoy traveling with y’all!
Thanks and thanks for watching!
You guys have the best travel videos! I look forward to watching them every week. Definitely check out Old Rag Mtn in Shenandoah National Park if you’re still on the East Coast.
That’ll be in a video in a few weeks! It was our second time doing it and it’s a tough one!
We were sooo close to booking a trip to Maine in October and watching your videos has me so bummed we didn’t click “submit” on our reservations. But next Fall we’ll be Maine bound and I am sure we will rewatch your videos!
It is totally worth the wait!
I love you guys!!
❤️❤️❤️
"Just grabbing some 🍑🍑🍑" Hilarious! You two are adorable 💞
😂😂
hi! love the channel! any plans to do a Q&A in the future? would also love to hear about future travel plans
We will probably do another Q&A when we hit 100K subscribers (because that just seems like the thing to do to celebrate 😂), but our first video of 2022 will be sharing our travel plans for next year! And it’s gonna be good!
Y’all need to be representing some LL Bean gear next visit to Maine 🦞
Kona loves hiking
She sure does!
Wow!!!!! You guys have really been dropping the M bombs lately 🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂
Just grabbing some peaches ;)
😜
In was waiting for y'all to call the popover "pillowy." So disappointed , haha. Just kidding; great video.
LOL! We so wish we could have, but it wasn’t pillowy it was very stretchy 😂😂
do you remember what week you were there? love the video...
Mid October, I think. Thanks and thanks for watching!
Awesome video, as always....BUT.....no lobstah food review?!?
Don't worry, lots of lobster to come!
@@AdventuresofAplusK You guys would LOVE it up there. Definitely gotta do it next time. Glad you were able to enjoy Acadia.
Yikes! ; )
We have a blog post that we share how we trace with Kona: adventuresofaplusk.com/full-time-van-life-with-a-dog-tips-for-traveling-with-a-dog/ Hopefully that helps answer some questions
If you’re still planning what to do there, we also have a few guides and itineraries on our website for Acadia
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Good video. I went to Acadia in the 90’s. In August. Although the Park is awesome, there was just way too many people there. Kind of disappointing.
That’s just how the national parks are unfortunately. Lots of amazing spots in the US that are just as beautiful as the national parks, but without crowds!
Was that the precipice trail you went up at the end?
That was the Beech Cliff Ladders, but Precipice to come soon!
Can you please tell me what kind of video camera you used, I want to get one. Thanks.
We have a link to all of our gear in the pinned comment 😃
I see that this was filmed Oct 18? Would you anticipate some fall foliage during the first week of October?
There's a good chance!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Thank you for getting back to me. Also I want to thank you for all of the extremely valuable information and ideas that I have gotten from your videos!
When can you make these reservations? I miss it every year 😪
I would check out the National Park website. They’ll have the most up to date information! ☺️ good luck!
Will you guys ever put a Thank $ button ?
I’m not sure. We have tried similar things in the past and just feel most comfortable creating content for free 😃
How tall are you two? I ask because I wonder how well I’d fair at 5’6” with the rock climbing portion
I am about 5’5” to 5’6” and Adam is 6 ft! The scrambling part on the bubble Trail wasn’t too bad, it was mostly just hard for Kona.
Loving this video, but Mt Desert is pronounced like Dessert or to desert like desertion.
We try very, very hard to pronounce things correctly, but that is one word we would’ve never even thought to look up to see how to pronounce it.
@@AdventuresofAplusK I am so surprised to get a response! My partner and I are such big fans of you two. I am not from Maine and would have never known it was pronounced the way it is had I not known people with connections. Your content is amazing, and I know you will cherish these videos yourself as time goes on. I do wish you would make a video about somewhere in Illinois! Save travels and Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you so much for watching! We appreciate the support. We hope you have a great holiday season!
where you leave dog when you are on trails where dogs are not allowed
Hello! This blog post shares how we travel with our dog! Hope that helps!
