I feel like you just have such a glow every time you travel with Gary. Not everyone has that family dynamic. It's special for sure. As always, thanks for taking us on your journey.
About 10 years ago, after refueling, I saw a little pool of antifreeze under my 2005 Burgman 650, they don't have a lot of coolant in them. Went to a dealer in Butte to have them replace the water pump (I traced the leak back to it). Yeah, they have awesome buildings there, and they remind me of Dubuque, Iowa. You rolling into a campground as the sunsets seems early to me, as most of my stories start with, "I got to the campground after dark..." A lot of the times I've been riding through a hot day, so when the sun drops low in the sky, the temperature drops, and I get re-energized. At that point it feels like a new ride and I don't want to stop. It's been that way for the last 45 years of riding.
I always enjoy "As the Magpie Flies". I especially like Gary's involvement with recent videos. His narrative voice and information provided is interesting and easy to listen to.
Fabulous Ride, what great scenery you have, plus a moose! Best animal entertainment was this year at camp, finches eating out of my neighbours hand. Great video, thank you.
Another awesome episode , I’m a huge pastie fan, my folks are British so grew up with pasties. Otherwise your trips always looks so enjoyable, and having Gary along makes for nice company for you.. Thank you for always entertaining us. Safe travels 💕💕
That section between Helena and Basin can be pretty interesting, especially depending on the route you choose. Even dry it can be rough for a bigger dual sport or ADV. I live in SW MT and finally covered the MT part of the Continental Divide Trail this summer over a couple long weekends and it was absolutely gorgeous, especially coupled with some beautiful bits from the classic Best of Montana tracks on ADVrider. Looking forward to Rocky Mountain Roll 2023!
Ooh an end screen crew question I can give a very Australian answer to: Once witnessed a pair of cockatoos completely losing it at a goanna. It took us a while to realise the "cockies" (yep, we really call them that) were nesting and they were protecting their eggs and trying to stop the monitor lizard climbing their tree. Cockatoos have one of the screechiest awful bird calls so this was CRAZY loud. The lizard gave up pretty quickly - but a quiet campsite it was not!
Loving this series! Sorry I missed the premier, I was out riding. It's 70F in Montana and that's not too common in October so had to take advantage of it. I love Butte and all it's history and Cornish pasties are the best. The sibling dynamic you have with Gary is very cool, it reminds me of the relationship I have with my siblings, just wish we could do it more often. Maybe next year I'll try to organize a sibling's campout. 😊
Great ideo as always Amanda. I like your brother's narrating voice. Thanks for adding that in! Regarding cool aimal encounters along the road, moose, dear, badgers and hares are pretty commin here in Sweden. I think it would be pretty spectacular to see a giraffe, elephant, or lion cross the tarmac, but we don't have them here. Cool animals I spotted, and actually managed to pick up to show the camera, are snakes and lizzardes. One in particularly memorable was the slow worm I cuddled with for a moment in my last episode of "Gravel & Bivvies".
Best animal encounter was just a couple of weeks ago, in Kaibab National Forest just outside the Grand Canyon. A herd of elk wandered right past my camp. But the last one, a bull with a broken antler, stopped, walked right over, and drank from a puddle right in front of my van! I pulled back my cat (he wanted to be friends 🤣) and put my bike between us, so if he charged he’d have to get through a KLR which is no mean feat. 😊 But he wasn’t at all aggressive, just drank, watched us watching him, then rejoined his herd. Amazing.
Best animal entertainment... listening to a heard of sheep go by - the bell around one of their necks ringing. Listening to owls. Watching chipmunks run and fish jump! Oh, and the time a fox chased a chicken through camp!
Just found your channel. Love it! I spend a lot of time in southwest Montana as my daughter lives there. Be sure to do the Pioneer Mountain scenic by way between wise River and Polaris. I've ridden it numerous times on my bicycle and motorcycle and there's a plethora of camping along the Route. You won't be disappointed. Be sure to hit the ghost town of Bannock, the first territorial capital of Montana. Safe travels from a new subscriber!
Amanda, I read other comments and absolutely agree. You and your brother have a very complementary style. This series of videoes is top-drawer. Montana ought to be paying you a fortune to post these episodes as a part of its tourism package. If y'all ever end up in the Texas panhandle, you've always got a free meal and a place to stay with my wife and me.
Note to self ... slow travel has it's advantage in ... you get to see stuff, duh!!!! Last time I was down that way I was on a twisty road hunt. It was successful. However, I certainly missed out on a lot of neat places. I guess that means there's a second time through. 🤟
I'm jealous that you get to ride with you brother. My brother & I both ride but have never ridden together. Very happy for you. Thanks for sharing this special time with us. Don't take it for granted.
Another amazing video Amanda. I think Gary's voiceovers are excellent and very informative. On a side note, here in the UK they're not allowed to be called Cornish Parties unless they are made in Cornwall.
Love the “brother’s” voice, and story telling. He could probably make a living doing narrations. And your videos of you two have a nice mix of voices in the telling.
What a delightful video. The two of you present Montana at its best. The rain / sky/ clouds of Butte looked exactly like my last trip there. Mostly rain with a bit of snow too. Kept waiting for that end screen crew question... Oh well.
Very lovely again. Your brother has a very calming voice. As for animals. We have these little wild martens that are very small. Sometimes very early morning during spring you can sometimes spot them playing. The youngsters seem to be absolutely fearless until they get told off by the parents. Just way too cute.
Thanks for the video. I've always dreamed of riding around Montana. Maybe one day, but I'm in another country, so that complicates things a bit :) I think you could have made it past the snow, but I can see you had stock tires on so it may have got a little squirrely. You have each other to help out so that gives you a big advantage taking chances out in the wild.
The Ennis area is so cool. Those views are what I really think is big sky country. The snow this year was crazy, not surprised you got stopped right away. When I was in that area in June, I got stopped pretty low still. Best entertainment, Racoons stealing everything and harassing campers while camping at Pennacles NP.
wow thank you for taking us through this area that you obviously know so well , very very cool ive actually been through somne of those places but did not know about them
Enjoying the “new format”. Don’t know if it was hard thought out, but it works really well and you two make a good combo. Love seeing the 360 clips of the two bikes riding together, and learning about the area you are riding in.
The food in that Chinese restaurant looked so good! I'd spend $200 and have left overs for a week if I lived near there. This is a great series! PS - What! No end screen question?!! I watch them all to the end regardless.
Really enjoying your vids. I have google maps pulled up and I'm tagging all the cool locations you point out that I like so I can hopefully one day visit them myself.
I'm from a Manchester (UK) coal mining town, There was loads of deaths locally with cave-ins etc but it's been 30 years since the last mine closed so the remnants are slowly fading. Slightly off topic but you might like to know... There's a status in Manchester of Abraham Lincoln, there was a booming cotton trade between the US and the UK during the Civil war, Lincoln was said to have remarked of the child factory workers in Manchester; The only difference between slaves and child labour is one has papers and the other doesn't. He did alot for the awareness of child labour in the UK specifically in my part of the world. Hope you found this interesting :)
It’s nice to see and hear more from your brother 👍! Most of the “wildlife” I’ve had to contend with when camping ⛺️ was other campers 😆. The best laugh I got was realizing the other campers were watching a friend and I pack our two tents, chairs, etc, back on to two motorcycles at a state park in Alabama. 😳. It was as if they were watching all the clowns climb back into the little car at the circus 🤪!
I *love* Chinese food, that all looked so good! Haha I'm pretty sure you've shown that place in a video before and I thought the same, but I really like the little separated 'booth rooms' they have - I'm sure it would be even louder in there without them lol. PS I've still never seen a moose, I'm jealous.
Who would win in a rainfly dance-off? You or Gary? Best animal entertainment, hmmm. A cabin teaming with dead ladybugs. It took on the nickname, ladybug ranch.
I loved some lil.mice that were almost half the size of my thumb. They would sit and excitedly watch for a stray crumb. Race out and grab and then run to a nearby stump base to eat the teeny crumbs.
Best animal entertainment? That would have to be the time when our neighbor at the camp site had a dog, a small terrier of mixed breeds, that would chase all the birds, then run like a scared little thing when the bird would chase back. A lot of attitude packed into a very small dog.
Well for one Evel Knievel days have been cancelled for a while, he wasn't really the most liked fellow locally, and the Knievel museum isn't even in Montana, and lastly I think the mining History of butte is much more interesting 🤷
Would more aggressive off road tires get you thru the snow? I have ridden some snow ( cautiously) and done ok. Was concern it would just get increasingly worse?
Enjoyed the video. Be nice if we had some back country trail system in Alabama. But so much land is privately owned. Nobody wants outsiders on there property. RIDE SAFE!
I don't personally take a cover when I travel, yes because I don't like the space it takes up. I know a lot of other people who carry covers, I just don't. All of my bags are waterproof, and not worried about my seat being wet since if it's raining I'm gonna be wearing rain gear :)

Gary has an excellent voice for this type of video making. He could do voice overs for a living
Agreed!
Also agreed

*_Awesome Video. Loved the old-time mining stuff and the town. Thanks for sharing, Amanda. You are a great storyteller._*
Thanks so much!

I always love the music! Beautiful cinematography. Beautiful surroundings… need to come to Montana!

When I think about Montana I think about GbarM Ranch, Yellowstone tv. Show, and now Amanda, Gary, motorcycles and camping.

I love watching squirrels chase each other around the campsites. It always reminds me of the Chip and Dale cartoons
You do great videos love your African twin 🤓 it's great you and your brother do this together 😊
"Where there is money, people will follow". Great quote Amanda and very true! Safe travels and greetings from Sri Lanka!
Nice ride,,that last camping spot was a jewel...
Thanks for another positive, serene, and beautiful-to-look-at episode. Also, the history of Butte was a pleasant education. Thanks again.
Hi Amanda great video thank you very well done. What no rain fly dance you seem relaxed traveling with your brother. Thanks again cheers to ya.
Very lovely again. Your brother has a very calming voice.
As for animals. We have these little wild martens that are very small. Sometimes very early morning during spring you can sometimes spot them playing. The youngsters seem to be absolutely fearless until they get told off by the parents. Just way too cute.

Good find on the camping ground, looked real nice and calm!
Thanks 👍
Thank you for sharing you life and your adventures with us, you have truly blessed us all. We look forward to many more videos. 🙂🙃🙂
I have been happy with RevZilla since getting back into MC riding after decades away. They have addressed several issues with boots.
That green tea pot is so cute ;) Love this video.
Great vid and thanks for telling about the history beautiful there !!
I especially loved what you shot in Butte... all the videos are great.
Excellent footage. Enjoyed.

Can't wait to come to Montana.
Great Video!! We're camped in the Kalispell area 2 years ago to visit some friends and plan to be back soon. Montana is Big Sky for sure! :) T
Touching many of my favorite rides. I miss Montana's very much. Thanks for sharing.
The food in that Chinese restaurant looked so good! I'd spend $200 and have left overs for a week if I lived near there. This is a great series! PS - What! No end screen question?!! I watch them all to the end regardless.

Mmmmmmm those Cornish pasties had my mouth watering, as did the Chinese noodles feast.
Really enjoying your vids. I have google maps pulled up and I'm tagging all the cool locations you point out that I like so I can hopefully one day visit them myself.
I am soooo enjoying this series. The dynamics with your brother is awesome, so good to see you both on motorcycles and sharing Montana with us all
Butte - super cool you covered it.
I really like the music in this one.

Always fun to travel with you, but Gary adds a really nice perspective to the trip!
Brilliant Vlog presentation.

Another great video. The joy of traveling with family can be so great. The stellar jays in glacier basin,co. were extremely pushy about getting food.
Very well done video. I'm in!
Thanks again for awesome videos! Amanda 🌹
Thanks for taking us along,always!
So cool you and your brother are having this experience!
So nice to be exploring places and sharing your experiences with your brother.......♥️♥️
Great video thanks for sharing
Sorry I missed the live premiere. You both speak like my Dad did, saying "crick" and pronouncing roof as "ruff". Thanks for taking us along with you.
Amanda, this is a fantastic series. I'm enjoying every minute.
Glad you enjoy it!
Really great editing!
Thank you!
Been through Butte a dozen times, but had no idea there was a mine pit.
If you make it through Ennis again, hit up Willie's Distillery!
I *love* Chinese food, that all looked so good! Haha I'm pretty sure you've shown that place in a video before and I thought the same, but I really like the little separated 'booth rooms' they have - I'm sure it would be even louder in there without them lol. Please visit. Choteau Montana
Thanks for sharing.
Have been there 👍
Who would've guessed that the oldest continuously operated Chinese restaurant in the United States would be found in Butte, MT and not San Francisco?
I really enjoyed this vlog .
Nice 👍 Vid , and no I don’t know 🤷♂️ we’re a lot of the places you are talking about as I’m from Australia.
Great video 👍🏼
Moose! Hooray!

@@AstheMagpieFlies i dont as a rule like mice..... but i was after all in their space so decided to be tolerant!
Cool

I’ve taken that trolley ride. Just curious, what tires are you running on the AT?
I hope Revzilla realizes how luck they are to have you.
awesome video as always 👍
👏👏👏🙌
Black bears eating ice cream sitting at a picnic table at my dad's hunting camp in PA.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention that Butte, was the birthplace of Robert “Evel” Knievel.
Well for one Evel Knievel days have been cancelled for a while, he wasn't really the most liked fellow locally, and the Knievel museum isn't even in Montana, and lastly I think the mining History of butte is much more interesting 🤷
@@AstheMagpieFlies, well put Amanda, he was a thug, you might say. Looking forward to seeing where you're off to next.
The open pit mine/lake, is that the one a sharpshooter kills any birds that land in it?

Amanda, does the Honda AT have lower suspension?
Do you have a cover for your motorcyucle when it rains? Does a cover take up too much room?
I don't personally take a cover when I travel, yes because I don't like the space it takes up.
I know a lot of other people who carry covers, I just don't.
All of my bags are waterproof, and not worried about my seat being wet since if it's raining I'm gonna be wearing rain gear :)
