Such a wonderful vibe! A bit of adversity shared/overcome with family, incredible scenery, fabulous looking food, cozy cabin tent, reliable bikes . . . BLISS! Thanks for sharing! Safe and fun-filled travels to you all. 😀
Catching up on your vids. This one dropped 4 days after my surgery. I worked with a gal from Libby back in the 90s in Custer State Park. Always wondered what happened to her. Looking forward to the rest of your vids.
thats a bucket lister for me , Glacier Nat'l park that is , Love MT !! did do the WA-BDR this year and just got back from doing a 5 day roll with my son = EPIC !! I am a work-a-holic and a p[rocrastinater but nowadays i stop and say to myself , just go do that thing
I had a motorcycle as my only mode of transportation when I was 16. I rode it everywhere all year long, so in West Virginia that means riding it in the snow. Only crashed it once when I was going down an ice covered hill. That's been 42 years ago, so I wouldn't do that now at my age.
Yes I have ridden in snow on a motorcycle. In my early 20's I did not own a car and rode my motorcycle to work every day and that was in Missoula Montana. It can get pretty tricky trying to do that and imposable to do if it gets to deep.
Yes, the brushes on my 650 Yamaha were going bad. I was heading toward Fort Stockton Texas before the freeway was built. After riding with my headlight on all day the bike started running on one cylinder. If I turned off my headlight the bike could make enough juice to run both cylinders. Only used light when a car was coming.
Awesome! Fantastic video Amanda and Gary, great content, well filmed and edited, perfect choice of music and you both have fantastic voices to listen to. Really jealous of The hot tent/ cabin tent, I'd love to stay in one of those. The roads, scenery and wildlife looked amazing ( but not as good as that food in Libby 😁). Best of all it seemed that you both had a great fun time, can't wait for the next video. Stay safe.
Oh yes!!!!!!!!!!!! Only one time but I was with a group on a weekend trip and on the way home we were in Maupin OR and the wind was terrible so we decided we should go over Mt. Hood. Well one of the guys knew a road that cut thru the boonies and as we made our way guess what snow. Well we decided since there were tracks in the snow (no bare pavement) where a truck had gone that we should be good to get thru. Wrong hit a snow block where the truck turned around so back out to the main road where we got sleeted on going over the mountain but nobody fell down or froze to death although wet hands suck in the cold. That was one of my first group rides with my Triumph buddies. That has been close to 20 yrs ago but I think since I was kinda new to motorcycling my friends were impressed with my lack of whining and how I just pushed thru it and made it work even with cold hands and wet gloves :)
Hey guys, great to see you exploring Montana together. It’s a state I’ve been wanting to check out, and I most definitely dig the smaller towns to stay and eat at compared to the bigger, busier cities. Now, unlike you guys, I think I’ll do it when it’s a bit warmer and drier out, but… 😂
I've wiped out in snow! 9 miles up the 9.5 mile dirt road to Cloud Cap on Mt. Hood. Fixed the shift lever and noped back down. I'll return one day. Bike was Rahul, my Royal Enfield Himalayan.
Good stuff! I've had one experience in snow. I waited to long to put my bike into storage one year. Had to drive through about 8inches of wet snow. I was surprised how well my heavy stratoliner made it through. Not something i want to do often. Lol
Awesome vid girl...I've learned alot from your moto blog adventures...I've just started my channel and you have been a great asset. Thanks again for your content. Lol at dance session. Damn you are living the life I dream of.
I live west of the Washington state Cascade mountains. Every spring I regularly do scouting rides to find when various forest service roads open. Generally I avoid doing much more than what you and Gray did in the video when solo. As you know some roads are not clear of snow until July. I also occasionally find a dusting of snow on October and November rides. Those rides are are beautiful.
Halfway House Bar and Grill sure had some good coffee and hot food! Yes...I was cold. LOL. Camped there. Neat little stream and Bull Lake. Rode Thompson Pass, went to The Cedars, Libby, Libby Dam, Seely Lake, Drummond, Paradise, Anaconda was all a blast.
I visited the Cedar Grove the end of June on my way thru Montana, on my way to the PNW. I loved it! Visited the LIBBY DAM. Great to know you and your brother had great time! RIDE SAFE!
Great Video as usual! My wife and I visited Yaak in August 2020. Stayed at Pete’s Creek NFS campsite just west of town. Beautiful area ! We had just came from Glacier NP which was a madhouse We looped around the lake to Libby and then Yaak. Much better experience than crowded together in a KOA.
What a beautiful area and a great way to celebrate a treasured family relationship. I’m jealous of the social media version of traveling with a brother/sister. Your trip looks tough in the weather, but good food, good camping/hotel stays, and great company all make it very attractive. What did you think of the Honda AT? Especially that DCT? No snow for me on purpose, but occasionally on accident. Not my fave!
Honda 50 Cub when I was 14 and we got snow here in South Carolina. It was pretty deep for us, maybe 4 inches and I went out and did snow tornadoes. The Cub didn't have enough power to be dangerous.
OH so good Amanda and Gary!! Two things happen for me in this that make it better than amazing. First getting a peek at a little of what Western Montana has to offer for countryside has created a few bucket list destinations. Even more exciting is seeing Brother Gary step into the light a little bit. Great to see and hear him participate in the production and content. I enjoyed the narration from Brother. Now E.S.C. ? I have ridden on wet roads with snow on the sides but not legit ridden in snow. One of my worst experiences did involve a different water state. I was caught out in Springtime hail storm. Hail hurts... a lot!!... even at 20 mph. I still get goosebumps remembering the painful sting of those little ice pellets hitting my hands. Thank goodness I was wearing a full-face helmet and leathers (see? ATGATT). Thicker gloves would have made that ride MUCH better.
Have you ever ridden through the Kootenays Amanda? North of Creston, BC cross the ferry, head north to Kaslo and then across the valley of the ghosts to New Denver. From there either south along Slocan Lake or north towards Revelstoke. I guarantee you wouldn't be disappointed. Absolutely loved this video, I'm only a few hours away in southern Alberta and am definitely going to have to check out this area now!!
I was Moto touring in MT last August and made my way to Yaak. What a cool little remote town and an excellent scenic ride. Came in from lake K then S to Libby and back up around lake K by the dam. Never get tired riding in MT.
Years (lots of them) ago, when living in Michigan, I ventured out for a ride or two in the winter months. Not advisable - lol. Now we’re in Florida, in the height of rain season. Always something! Thanks for another great video.
I didn't ride through snow but I had to wait out a little snowstorm in Montana in June a few years ago. I've ridden through hail in both Montana and Wyoming. Not fun lol.
While I love winter and snow, (hence my license plate, SKBUNY) riding in it is not a favorite. One late fall we were in the Adirondacks and it started to snow while we were headed home. It kept snowing and started to stick to the roads, bikes, and us! Not fun at the time, but a great memory.
Amanda, and Gary still laughing. We learned nothing. Way to go brother and sister such a great adventure riding together. Gary do you have a great narration voice. Rain rain go away. As we say ride on, Ride safe, keep the rubber side up. PS enjoy life to the fullest while you can beautiful people.
So lovely! If you two ever decide to visit Europe, know you'll have a place to stay in The Netherlands at my home 😄 As for snow.... I got my license in the winter 14 years ago. Have ridden in snow after that several times, but I do tent to avoid it.
Great vid. I have ridden in snow often but not on bikes that size. You loose your enthusiasm after lifting your bike out several times! Cabin fever was typically responsible.
Answering crew question answered: short answer is No… never ridden in the snow. That being said, when I wore a younger mans clothes and was learning to ride a motor-sickle…. A very experienced biker told me his definition of a “skilled biker” It went something like this: a skilled biker is someone that uses his superior skill to avoid situations requiring the use of his superior skill. I truly appreciate your videos Amanda. It is wonderful that you have such a great brother to share your adventures with. As always, ride safe.
I love that Gary is with you and talking more in your videos. I am working so hard to get my little brother to ride again. He lost his BFF due to a riding accident and it kills me because he was an amazing rider. I am going to share this with him in hopes that he will see the fun we could have. Love this!! More please!!
That is unfortunate. After I hit a deer on my Honda 400 I didn't think I would ride again. But I took the MSF training course which helped me regain my confidence. I hope your brother can find his confidence again as well. But if not it is understandable. We all have to be comfortable with the level of risk we are willing to accept as riders.
I so much loved this episode Amanda (and Gary) Laughed when Gary joined the roadside dance lesson, and the food at the Bistro - that pasta skillet !!!! I want to take this opportunity to thank you for giving me back my confidence to get riding again. Went on my first big group ride yesterday with 50+ "Hogs" and me on my Honda GW LOL... Went from Sandpoint to Hope, Clarks Fork, Troy, Bonners, Naples and to Sandpoint. Can not wait to watch your next episode.
Yay! Such a great video and I can't wait for more. That kitchen area at the Yaak Hipcamp was so cute, and so stocked with tools! I need to try a Hipcamp sometime. Maybe in a few weeks when I head up to Vermont... This video also makes me excited for the next time I can take my brother along on a trip with me, haha.
I would not have ridden the show either. Smart decision! I have ridden where it has been plowed, but not 'through' snow. I know I am in Australia, seeing some amazing things and places, yet your videos always make me miss the beauty that is in the US. Hope to see you again soon and ride safe.
Yep, ridden in snow several times. Seat on bike is still deformed from butt puckering! Once over Lolo pass in 4"" of fresh snow and dumped it at another time pushing the ride up in the mountains on a forest service road. 😀 Your brother has the voice and knack for narration. Well done video!! 👏
Wow your brother looks lots like you . To bad it rain is beautiful there . Missed you when you came to tombstone AZ I live near there went to that hotel you stayed on my bike but it was close ? For Summer ?
closest for me was although not tires in the snow like you guys did but it stared to snow on the way home from work one day ,and that was a sign i needed to find a car as winter wa a comin lol
You two are so warm with each other, it is a pleasure seeing you travel together. I was born in Libby and moved to Oregon when I was 5y/o, so it was special seeing the area. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Amanda was THERE! It's catching on Amanda, see? That chili did look good, I'm glad it was authentic. Despite the rain, it really looked incredible riding up to Yaak. HAH! Back to Yaak! More slogans! The food looked very tasty in Libby too. End screen: Yes. Having a motorcycle in the Northeast, you look for any opportunity to ride. Sometimes even if there is not an opportune break in the weather. I used to take out my XT250 because, how bad could riding in snow be.... It had to be done.
Yes, while exploring Oregon and Washington for the first time this spring I was often turned around by snow covered roads - in May and June! That’s a first for me. But I try to avoid riding IN it. I failed to avoid it when taking my Honda PC800 to winter storage one year. First the windshield froze. Then my face shield. Then my glasses! I finished the ride without my glasses. But I made it! No whammies!
Yes, I have ridden through snow. I had gone over to Camp Rilea for a weekend in March several years ago on my old BMW K1200RS. The weather was as agreeable as weather in NW oregon can ever be that time of year. On the way home Sunday, I started running into snow before I even got to Camp 18. Stopped there for breakfast and everyone told me that conditions were not any better eastbound. I had a decision to make. Go back (through snow) and take either 6 or 30 back, or keeping going (again, through snow) because I was going to have to ride through snow either way. It was nerve wracking and the whole time I was thinking "Well, after some of the crap I've lived through, this is how I'm going to die." But, I was gentle on the controls, stayed in ruts when I could and made it through just fine. But damn I was cold when I dropped back down into the Tualatin Valley.
I love watching you two have fun on this trip!!! Never ridden through snow. How are you liking that DJI as a helmet cam? I know it doesn't do audio well, if at all... But the form factor seems perfect for this application. So funny you had a footnote about camping in bear country, Jess from HerTwoWheels just did a video on this very thing!!! Ride safe out there...
I was excited to see you two traveling together. I feel like I've seen you put him in some interesting motorcycle predicaments over the years. The food looked fantastic for the size of town you're in.
Haven’t ridden through snow but I got caught in my first ever rainstorm this weekend. My favourite kind of hiking though was spring hiking out in flathead above 7000’ on the snow.
I love that you traveling with your brother. It cracks me up every time you refer to him as brother, reminds me of the Bernstein bears. 😊. Also makes me want to take a trip with my sister. Looks like a great time. Inspiring.
Yaak is a cool little place. Although, all the times I have gone in the summer, it has been busy and lots of riders from ADV bikes to Harley's go there. The road from Yaak to Libby is a good ride, that east road is a lot smaller than the main road in to Yaak past the falls. Several fun dirt roads connect between the two roads in the summer as well. And yes, I've ridden in snow. I got snowed on today while riding, luckily it wasn't sticking.
Wow....so strange to hear Gary narrate a good portion of the video. He could get a job.....well.......narrating videos, and doing voice-over work. Never had any desire to ride in snow and never had the occasion to do so as well...and that's with me riding at least one or two days during each of the winter months here along the Massachusetts coast. 😄
Yes, i've ridden in snow once... on the first day i got my brand new moped when i was 16. It snowed for like a week, but i was determined to take it out for a ride. Rode for 5 minutes, crashed it. Lesson learnt... snow is slippery😂.
Ridden in snow? Gosh yes. Terrifying. Colorado mountains are famous for surprises. Many times I’ve walked through a snow bank to see if going forward is an option. Plowing through explains the two times I’ve been stuck in snow in July. And me without a shovel. Digging out with bare hands is a whole different experience in pain. LOL. A strategic retreat can be a really great idea. I’m missing my brother now. What a great adventure. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for bringing us along with you and Gary! Yes, I have ridden through snow on way too large a bike (triumph 1200 explorer) and thankfully did not drop it! Also, first time I've ever noticed you have hazel eyes (my wife's are the same lovely shade)
I have not ridden through snow, but I have ridden while it was snowing and also when there are ice patches on the road. I'm lucky though, I have 3 wheels, so ice is the only time I counter steer. 🙂 PS - Great video.
I have ridden through snow but here in the UK if it does snow it's only usually an inch thick and goes after a few days, Nothing like you get in Montana. Ride safe :)
Beautiful video! Love to see the both of you together! It’s great to see brothers and sisters having a good time together. We see so many families where no one speaks to each other so seeing the both of you is wonderful! Have fun! Claudine from Quebec, Canada
Thanks so much for watching today's video!

Yes, about 250 miles, in a late spring blizzard/ice storm. Had to get back base by Monday morning…I was on a 1975 Kawasaki H1 500 triple 😊

Hi Amanda and Gary! Great to see y’all faces and adventures off the beaten track
lol thanks for the support Madelinn!
@@AstheMagpieFlies I agree with Madelinn.
Yes, the brushes on my 650 Yamaha were going bad. I was heading toward Fort Stockton Texas before the freeway was built. After riding with my headlight on all day the bike started running on one cylinder. If I turned off my headlight the bike could make enough juice to run both cylinders. Yeah I agree with a lot of the previous comments. This was very enjoyable and heartwarming to watch you two.
its good to see brothers and sisters having fun.

I really enjoyed this video and look forward to the rest of the series.
Darn it! Only one episode in and now I’ve got to ride Montana 👍🏻😜
Looking forward to the rest of this series.
Cheers 🇨🇦
:D Thanks Critter!

Nothing like a nice pair of wet gloves in the morning 🧤 😂 amazing scenery as usual from your channel. Can’t wait for part 2
You always light up when your brother is around. It's so nice to see.

I HAVE ridden through the snow - on my bicycle - nowhere close to mountain passes. 😁
Much love from Chicago.

Yes, I've ridden through snow on crossply road tyres! It was downhill then back up again. Interesting...
Yes, I have ridden in the snow, in the high pass near Yellowstone, in July....

Gary has a great narration voice. He cracks me up with his dead pan comments. Great video. Hope to see you guys again next year!
Yes on a 80 cb750 k in 6" of new snow from Spokane to Fairfield to Rosalia and not plowed.
I super enjoyed you and Brother. And the scenery, oh my! Good stuff, Amanda.

Dirty Shame, heard that before!! Keep it weird! Nice video!!
Really enjoyed this one! Oh hell no on the snow! I’ve been snowed on while riding but not through snow on the road
Haven't ridden through snow, but then we don't get much in the south of England
Coffee shack in yaak, someday goin back, if its on the track, take another whack.
Quisiera tener una hermana así como tú chingón video
Was just along the same path, I went Bonners Ferry. Gorgeous area.

I've ridden through plenty of snow.
I just found your channel and enjoyed your video. I love taking the back roads myself as well. New subscriber and fan here. Hello from Texas.
Hi! Welcome to the Magpie Fam!!
Bein from Arizona, I have never ridden in snow...or weather below 50 degrees. 🙂
Amanda was THERE!
It's catching on Amanda, see?

But, I was gentle on the controls, stayed in ruts when I could and made it through just fine. But damn I was cold when I dropped back down into the Tualatin Valley.
The snow reminds me of trying to go around hungry horse reservoir.
Never ridden through snow.✌️❤️🎣
I love these types of videos. New subscriber.
we get some snow, but they go crazy with the salt so it's hard to drive on 4 wheels
Very enjoyable to watch. Thank you.
What a magical trip with brother! So cool to see you share the narration too. Beautiful Montana space.
Oh what I would give to go on an adventure like this with my brother.
Tried snow once, made it about 50 feet!
Montana is gorgeous! Great video and narration from you both!
I was excited to see you two traveling together. I feel like I've seen you put him in some interesting motorcycle predicaments over the years.
The food looked fantastic for the size of town you're in.
Yes I've ridden through snow (read: got caught in a snowstorm). I crashed almost immediately 😅
beautiful area friend lives in Polson mt
A truly delightful view of you and Gary! Nice to see a nice part of the world through the eyes of two nice people!
Haven’t ridden through snow but I got caught in my first ever rainstorm this weekend.
My favourite kind of hiking though was spring hiking out in flathead above 7000’ on the snow.
Glad to see you out riding with your brother.
It's a s-no-w go on riding through that mountain snow. 😏
I live near Ottawa in Canada, but have not ridden through snow yet, We usually put the bikes away before the snow hits.
Beautiful country. Props to @HondaPowersprts for providing the AT. Can't think of any moto vlogger more deserving.
Thank you so much I really appreciate it!
He does have a great voiceover voice lol
Great video! I avoid snow at all costs!
Ahhhhhh it takes me home. Thank you for that.
Great video Amanda, it's really awesome to watch you two together back on the road, sharing amazing rides and places! 👍👍
G'day from Australia, nice to see you riding with your brother, family's important.👍
Thanks 👍
I have not ridden through snow, but I have ridden while it was snowing and also when there are ice patches on the road. I'm lucky though, I have 3 wheels, so ice is the only time I counter steer. 🙂 PS - Great video.
I have ridden through snow but here in the UK if it does snow it's only usually an inch thick and goes after a few days, Nothing like you get in Montana. Ride safe :)
Prefer to leave the snow for sled season!
I like your brother on your show!
Good team, didn't feel as staged as so many of the blogs. Brother's narration felt natural.
Thanks a ton
Beautiful video! Love to see the both of you together! It’s great to see brothers and sisters having a good time together. We see so many families where no one speaks to each other so seeing the both of you is wonderful! Have fun! Claudine from Quebec, Canada
