I just love this episode. Quite literally, everything in it goes wrong. The legendary bike jump, every mechanism failing, Jamie's car ramming through the gates. This is definitely one of the peaks of the show
@@EAdrien92 What spoilers?! Comments are LITERALLY for talking about the video!!! If someone is 'spoiled' by the comments, then they're the idiot for reading them BEFORE watching the video.
14:16 I heard Tory’s dad was so mad at him for that bike accident, yet it’s so memorable. Like most things in life, you’re often remembered for the dumb things you did more than the smart things.
Grant also had a degree in electrical engineering. In the early episodes, Jamie and Adam had to hire electricians when their rigs were wired up incorrectly. The appliances in the bathtub episode was one I think.
Adam used to work the Jamie before MB and Tori worked with Adam at ILM they all knew each other this show just happened to put them all together. Sucks they cut the trio over paying them what they were worth the show was still a hit.
I remember when I was in a vehicle when the shaft did exactly this on a busy main road, it frightened me to bloody death. No flip though as it was a tipper van with 3 of us in it plus tools plus a load of chippings and logs plus the tonne and a half of woodchipper we were towing behind it, I thought that chipper had broken free at first.
I had something similar as well. I was driving a van with twin rear wheels, and someone left a short piece of scaffold pole lying in the road. The pole jammed between two of the rear tyres, and then hit the underside. I was doing about 60 mph and the back end of the van went up a foot or so. When I stopped, the was a big dent in the floor of the van, and some of the ceramic tiles I had in the back had been smashed. My boss even tried to blame me for it, but he had to admit it was a chance in a million accident.
I own a van which had the drive shaft come off the back of the gearbox. It was travelling at 70mph on the motorway. (UK) The drive shaft did not dig intp the rod but bent under and locked and lifted the rear wheels causing a loss of control. It carrered across 3 lanes and rear ended a Heavy goods vehicle which was having a tyre changed. The impact pretty much destroyed it. However due to it's rarity I have been rebuilding it for about 10 years.
Someone who is not very mechanically inclined and has never handled a drive shaft before might find it plausible, and after seeing the results, it's not exactly out there. It did lift the back end!
I love the earlier seasons, the show makes people involved along with their bright ideas and suggestions. Later seasons don't really show that and make it look like Mythbusters did it all themselves without any external help.
Tory did told the story of his bike accident which is this one. He got a call from his Old man " Do that again and I will kill you " 😂 Edit1: AYO THEY GOT THE SAME GUY FROM THE TOILET MYTH LOLOL
Here's another question. Why don't people bitch about movies wrecking dozens of cars for pointless, usually lackluster entertainment. But when Mythbusters do it in the name of science and discovery then it's a problem?
Why are you using an airplane RC controller. I built 1/8 and 1/10 scale RC cars. We used transmitter controllers with pistol grip and wheel. Squeeze the trigger for speed and a wheel/knob for steering. Setup to control the range of steering so not twitchy like the complaints. But you knew that and used this for what more time more suspense?
For anecdotal Porta Potty stories, this is gross. In the summer of 1982 I was supervising installations of low voltage cables and wires for CCTV, Fire Alarm and RFI Readers for access control. I arrived late on a Friday afternoon heading west for a long weekend drive. No supervisors were around the electricians packing up and leaving. I walked to the two Porta Potties stinking in the August sun. I needed to take a leak. Opening the door on the left. A pile of maggots fell out. I was surprised and staggered by the stench. An involuntary retch hit me and I hit the door of the other Porta Potty. Same condition. The maggots almost boiling out of the two potties. I ran away to my car. I vomited, it was worse than a tannery or rendering plant. My thoughts later then and now, who the hell was the last guy to use these pots of hell. I do not exaggerate the one had a maggot volcano. Mythbusters could try that but I doubt it would sell. LOL.

Thanks for the spoiler ya gooch
And Adams fingers in the door😂

@@EAdrien92 How about watching the episode first ya gooch
The legendary bike jump!!
I’m glad Tori is okay.
Most people would've ended up with skinned hands and arms with a broken nose, jaw and teeth, but of course it's Tori so he's fine.
The driveshaft is rotating... it's walking to the left every time.
14:16 I heard Tory’s dad was so mad at him for that bike accident, yet it’s so memorable. Like most things in life, you’re often remembered for the dumb things you did more than the smart things.
Understandable from Tory's dad. That could easy have been a life ending accident. Unlikely that he'd die from it but permanent severe injuries.
He told that story
I love these earlier seasons where everyone's on camera horsing around and having fun 😅
26:44 you can hear the anxiousness in the others voices haha probably thinking oh my god he’s finally going to do Adam in! 😂
This is probably why they hired Grant.
He was their remote control expert.
Grant also had a degree in electrical engineering. In the early episodes, Jamie and Adam had to hire electricians when their rigs were wired up incorrectly. The appliances in the bathtub episode was one I think.

Grant had a history of working with Jamie previously. He also worked at ILM which is exactly the type of stuff Adam and Jamie did.
That random bike crash was rough 😂
Legendary scene 😂
Makes me flinch every time I see it.
Kari: "I'm not doing this... You're not paying me enough."
I love the little Adam vs Tori (and the Build Team) during the exploding port-o-potty test.
I love it that Keri said "I cant belive i went to Collage for this!", i remember her first visit and quasi job apilication of her in mythbusters haha
"you don't pay me enough" - was she still an intern at the time?
Loved this episode! Thanks
Jamies mustache looks just absolutely ridiculous 😂😂😂 👏
These guys have the best job ever!
"That was thrilling, no really, really I was just like, hey look! I'm going towards the fence!" 27:21

31:40 “Adam’s got his fingers crossed, the shaft will snap this time around.”
BANG
“Pity he left those same fingers in Scotty’s door.”
At last, I finally get to see the origin of Tori’s epic bunny hop fail!
:)
I cant stop laughing till the end in this episode. 😂😂😂😂
8:39 Well, now I know what Adam Savage's s*** looks like. Thanks for that, editors.
How its made: Peanut Butter

This show is so fucking good.
Oh... the bike jump episode! Classic! 😸

I don't understand how anyone would think a dropped driveshaft could support the weight of a moving car enough to flip a car over.
After seeing the results, I do see the seed of the exaggeration that culminates in pole vaulting end over end, but yeah, total exaggeration.
Someone who is not very mechanically inclined and has never handled a drive shaft before might find it plausible, and after seeing the results, it's not exactly out there. It did lift the back end!
What I learned from this episode is that even as a child Adam was pretty goofy looking 😄
26:20 Jaimieee !!! Haha!
Scottie: Did Adam bring extra pants?!
Kari: Did he do that on purpose? Are they fighting?!
15:40 Crap shoot? What does it mean?
craps is a dice game, so kind of up to chance
OK thx 🙂 @@cooze1
This happened to a friend of mine in his 1/2 ton Chevy 😢
16:04 Best part of the show
Ohhh yes!
Empty for control? I am having trouble with this
37:07 its not a myth, were just idiots:)

Adam and jamie had so much trouble finding the hole ...
WTF ? Why smash a rare classic car, when any old car would do ?
i guess this is b4 they figure out they could use toll cables to move the car and just remote control the shaft to release🤣
I know a guy whos suspention arm dropped down and ploevolted him upside down on a bridge. Its possible
Kari is pure fire!!
6:30 🤣
They always be destroying beautiful cars.
Why are they publishing old episodes in the name of new episodes
because this is some random person on the internet
@@criticalposts3143it’s not a random person, Banijay holds the rights to publishing Mythbusters these days.
They're not claiming them as new episodes, any more than any other of the hundreds of old episodes of all sorts of things, all over YT...
I hope you guys know you killed one of my dad's favorite cars
Soooo ya notice Tory and Adam beefing lol

It's cutting edge science because they using a grinder
What if you tried the drive shaft myth on a hill?
I don't understand why they would wreck classic cars.
They weren't that classic 20 years ago, the miths referenced old cars and they had to use those.
Tori bringing jackass to discovery channel
KARI BYRON FILM AND SCULPTURE DEGREE: what a great asset
For her job with MB that is pretty useful...
I had completely forgotten what a cutie Kari used to look like at the age of 30
Of course there won’t be enough build up of methane gas by one person’s poop.
Hundreds of people poop in there not just one person.
Only just noticed Kari has a tongue piercing.
Adam drops his shit off and gone... he be thinking "they playing with my shit, my shit, my shit, my shit"
What?
Scotty to hotty
Why do they always wreck good cars!? What a waste.
Here's another question. Why don't people bitch about movies wrecking dozens of cars for pointless, usually lackluster entertainment. But when Mythbusters do it in the name of science and discovery then it's a problem?
Oooooh you'd have got plenty-o-for trashing a classic.

Idk because it works and because they did a ton of setup just like this one throughout the show
