Ive been watching your videos and watched your videos for years and years Since my kids were babies. Walking your kiddos grow up makes me sad just like looking at my own! Time is such a precious thing
I follow you not because of homesteading but for your family values plus IAM an old lady who loves family but don't have much. Love watching family values.
Justin, we too farm here in SE WI, and raised 3 kids to successful adults! My husband always says, “All good parents teach their children to be self-sufficient, but the hard part comes when they actually do fly and leave the nest.” Speak your feelings to your life mate, she’s a gem. New rhythms are a constant in life!
💝💗💖 Love your family days. You let me remember sending my 16 year old, on her own, in the car, just down the street for something from the grocery store. I would be waiting on pins and needles until she returned. She has now raised two children of her own. Our grandson just received his doctorate degree in engineering. 💥 And just yesterday I sent her to the store! Time really flies as your children grow. And that is a good thing. They grow and you get to watch the process. It will be the most rewarding time of your life! 🙂 Love the time you give to us with your family. Take care!
Thank you for including the daily life events because life is about more than food. I think one of the values in homesteading is the family interactions that just take place naturally. Times that make good memories!
So sweet Justin, seeing you with the youngest ones. You had me laughing saying you were walking in the woods with a rucksack that came with talk radio,😂 and then putting the other one in the ergo carrier, hilarious and so cute!
Wait til Henry moves out that empty nest syndrome is hard I cried for weeks when my last child left home now he has a beautiful family of his own and hubby and I are enjoying retirement your friends are right about learning their mistakes it’s part of life hubby and I had our share Lastly being a grandma brings such joy to my heart so a new chapter for me and my husband ❤God bless you Rhodes family
It's hard letting them grow up and doing their own thing. I enjoy that they still want to spend time with me even though they have their own family's. Grandchildren are precious. That is the best. Love what you're doing with your children.
Justin and Rebecca you guys have been having him problem solve and trying new things out on the farm that. You guys have done a wonderful job in giving him tools to succeed more than you realize. When he does fail catch him. That's all we can do for our kids. Sometimes you just need to hear it. I'm saying out loud you're doing amazing!!
Of course we're following you as a family. We love you guys. I learn from you and the trial and error. I love that you show mistakes and how to fix it. I only watch vlogs that show REAL life and REAL people. 😊❤
It’s bitter-sweet when children begin to spread their wings. I think it is wonderful Justin that you can see this happening. I always say we give our children two gifts, roots to grow and wings to fly.
As fast as they are growing up, they will always need you just in a different way. And in the lull between parenting children and them being young adults, you and Rebecca can have some married couple honeymoon time. Reviving that deep love for one another. Then before you know it the best thing ever happens, GRANDCHILDREN ! You still get to parent them too but you’re older, wiser, more relaxed and not solely responsible for their upbringing so it’s just pure joy being with them. As much as you love your kids, you love your grandkids twice as much. My only regret is that I didn’t have more children so I could have more grandchildren. ❤
I completely understand the emotion of your littles growing up and potentially soon leaving the nest…it was a very difficult transition for me when my twin boys moved out…the good thing now…I have “daughters” and grand babies and they are over all the time…they are the most precious gifts my kids gave me!…but the transition of my boys leaving the nest for me was traumatic to say the least! Hang in there!..at least you still have the younger 3..so hopefully by the time Mr Brown and Henry leave the nest you will have grand babies to take their place❤❤. Jonah looks exactly like you at that age Justin…you and Bec should be very proud of the incredible young men your raising…and especially that awesome young lady…you guys are the definition of good parents!…in fact y’all should write a book!📕…Much love and blessings sent to you guys❤❤
I love thé focus of this vlog. ❤ Hearing your thoughts about your family, the children getting older specifically , is exactly where I am right now. I have a 22yo, 16yo and a 10yo. It’s such an interesting time as a parent. I’m loving watching your children grow on the homestead, it’s scuba dream of mine.
Look at it a different way, Justin. You've been raising children like crops. When they're ready, they're ready. No point leaving them in the field or on the plant. You've done a good job raising healthy kids with good values, and they know they can always come home when they want to.
As a kid I had to replace those rubber tires. Put them in a turkey boiler (with water) to heat them up. The easiest way is to put a piece of metal rod in an vice and then use a couple large screwdrivers to work the tire on. A small pair of vice grips (or two) can help keeping the tire from sliding around the rim. Don't worry about marring the wheel up, it doesn't hold air anyway.
I completely understand how you're feeling Justin. I am feeling exactly that way about my children too. It certainly is bittersweet and not easy. I'm just like you, very loving and hands-on with my love. Where do I put that when they aren't with me? Their independance is a sign of your sucess. 🦋 Lily looks amazing galloping hands-free! I'm always impressed with your running and physical abilities at 45! Also, I definately watch for your family and homesteading! I am invested in you guys because I just love you all! I😍❤🙏
I wasn't to interested in the bike trip because I love the homestead content, but I watched it anyway because you guys will talk about it forever and I'd want to know what I was missing. Your family is fun to watch.
* * If you're going to trap them cows in a pen so small, where they can't get away from the flies biting them, at least give them somehting they can scratch on.. a scratch post or something.. even shove down a large tree trunk.. something.. Seriously, That would be a humane thing to do.
A Laundry TIP: Use wash cloths to dry off in the shower. Towels are so big and take a lot of energy to wash and dry. Amazing the less amount by using wash cloths!
I loved hearing you say your kids don't have to leave. To many families kick their kids out when they turn 18. I have 5 children. 4 still live at home. It's their choice and I don't mind at all.
It just flies by. My oldest is 39 now my youngest 30. Now I’m watching my grandkids grow up even faster I have 10 from age 15 to 8 months. Enjoy the time and don’t be sad I know it’s bitter sweet. I don’t think your kids will move away from the farm.
Feeling this too. Most of my babies are grown and gone. Only a few left at home. I know it’s healthy and right but still really hard for me. Really hard.
Hey Justin if you haven't already seen it, I highly recommend the movie "Wilding" about an English couple who let their land return to the wild. It's truly inspiring and totally awesome ❤️🇬🇧
My in laws finished their roomy house, months before one left for college and another got married 😮 it takes years to be in a position financially to be able to get/build the bigger home... Life moves on!
Thanks for showing us your life. You are definitely one of the hardest working guys on UA-cam. Just wondering about the kids home school. Never see them doing any?👍
Lillie's horse seems small, is he full grown? Just wondering if you would be disappointed if the boys didn't follow in your footsteps? What if they want to go to college and not become farmers? I watch a lot of these types of videos and the kids always seem put off by having to help out and stay on top of their chores. Most complain about having to get up so early when they want to sleep in. In your case, you always have a good mix of work and play. You come up with great adventures and fun times for the kids. I hope you're stuck with them for a long time.
Sadness is part of them growing up😮my oldest moved out of state at age 19. My oldest son married at 21 and made me a Grammy when he was 23. Justin you are in the best years of their lives and it only gets better watching them adult and parenting. 😊❤14 grandchildren later waiting for them to have their own children. Great Grammy will be an awesome title ❤ I love watching you guys work and play together.
It is so true, I watch you and your precious family, not farming advice. It would be hard to homestead in my 3rd floor apartment. I'm too old to even do a balcony garden.
My MA worked outside the home. We kids lean fast how to take care of ourselves and each other. By age 10 u were doing ur own laundry. This was back when u had to iron everything unless u didnt mind wrinkles.
Empty nest syndrome. But you got more till last one. It hits ya each time. Wait till the last one. Oh my lord, my 21 in navy. I'm dying here. Lol😂❤. Their all gone. It's so quiet. No muddy floors, laundry dishes. 😢 omg when kids drove off I thought you would loose it. Lol😂
Yea, for some of us the homestead stuff is just the accent and the family is the main deal. Kids raised close to the land and encouraged to think and take charge are such a rarity today. They never used to be. It's a shame it's rare, but when I see it, I support it! With views and comments and whatever wisdom I might have accumulated.
Justin wait until your babies start bringing babies home! I love my daughter to the end of the world. But I LOVE my grandson to the end of the Universe! I never knew I could love someone that much. ♥♥
The boys could go to a trade school and learn how to fix all the stuff you use on the homestead, plus the bikes. AND they will have exposure to the kids that didn't grow up in such healthy families.
I think if the boys stay on the farm you should give them the houses or let them stay in the new house. Just think if the three big kids grow up get married and start their own families what a tribe you will have all the time. Fun fun fun
do they not do provisional licenses in NC? in california you cannot drive other minors until you turn 18 or you are licensed for a year. i know they are safe with jonah but the police might not like it if the laws are the same
JUST DON'T GET SAD WHEN THEY TRY OUT THEIR WING AND WHEN THEY DO IT'S CALL FREEDOM BUT THEY'LL COME BACK YOU HAVE BEEN BUILDING A CAREER FOR YOUR FAMILY JUSTIN YOU ARE A AMAZING DAD
My oldest son went to college and when he called home, my husband had to answer the phone until I could stop crying and talk. When he came home to visit, I stood in the driveway as he left and cried. He's 40 now and I still tear up when I hear his voice....
Most teenagers are so obnoxious, it is a relief to let them move on. Keep being awesome, Justin. There will be emotionally tough days ahead if J & J move away within the next three years. I guess the main thing is to put one foot in front of the other, and only focus on the projects at hand. When they decide their future, know you did a great job and they are not rejecting their lives with you, but exploring the wonders that await them in adult life. 🥰
As a HSing mom of 3, please be very careful who your children date and eventually marry! I love watching about your family since we are in our mid 70's and while we still garden we are too old and tired to homestead and have animals.
Are you going through a mid life crises ? You have plenty of land, they could build their own houses, bring up their own families on that land. If they want to leave then let them. If it doesn’t work out for them let them know they can come back. 👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️🇬🇧
Hi.... Justin Rhodes and Rebecca thanks 😊 you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
WOW A REAL COWGIRL ....WOO WEE....grabbed my heart....feeling the wind blowing through my hair......Woop eee
Came for the homestead stuff, stayed for the family. ❤
Jonah it’s so good to see you behind the wheel driving the younger ones to shop beautiful ❤
Ive been watching your videos and watched your videos for years and years
Since my kids were babies.
Walking your kiddos grow up makes me sad just like looking at my own!
Time is such a precious thing
I follow you not because of homesteading but for your family values plus IAM an old lady who loves family but don't have much. Love watching family values.
It's so wonderful that you've created legacy so your children can survive in this challenging world.

Second comment of the day, I would LOVE to see a video titled, Rebecca - what she does all day .
Thank you for including the daily life events because life is about more than food. I think one of the values in homesteading is the family interactions that just take place naturally. Times that make good memories!

Definitely following you as a family, and as a homesteading life.

love the way Dad carries the little one .....
Adult children bring us just as much joy as our younger children. And, grandchildren!
Of course we're following you as a family. We love you guys. I learn from you and the trial and error. I love that you show mistakes and how to fix it. I only watch vlogs that show REAL life and REAL people. 😊❤

Get some foldable stand-up chicken racks. The skin comes out so good and the chicken stays so juicy! No brining required.
I like that saying!..thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
Randle is a jewel!! Hard working, humble and an expert at a lot!!
If Rebecca does nothing else all day I wish she would comb the hair of the littles and remind the older kids to comb their’s.
Your new house is just so gorgeous ! Eye catching when the camera catches it in the sunlight.
As fast as they are growing up, they will always need you just in a different way. And in the lull between parenting children and them being young adults, you and Rebecca can have some married couple honeymoon time. Reviving that deep love for one another. dehydrate bananas when get too ripe/soft.....great candy ,chewy n sweet ..
I especially loved this video...such beautiful family times... warmed my heart so much my eyes welled up with tears!!!! Beautiful!!
enjoy the children when you can,,,,they fly the roost too soon .....especially when you really enjoy their company ....
Each positive step your child makes toward independence can be thought of as a success.
But it sure does hurt when they fly the nest!…the grandbabies make it all worth it though! ❤
I love it and hate when they grow up. Thanks Rhodes family!!
Love you Justin. You treated me kindly and with more dignity than I deserved under the circumstances. Amazing homestead family.
We do love your family😊
His Crocs are in the front yard of the remodel house in the grass. I saw them in your chore video.
🤣🤣
Look at it a different way, Justin. You've been raising children like crops. When they're ready, they're ready. No point leaving them in the field or on the plant. You've done a good job raising healthy kids with good values, and they know they can always come home when they want to.
Love this video! The chicken looked awesome! Pickle juice is also a great brine!
If they are capable of spreading their wings be thankful that they are healthy enough physically and mentally.
If you peel bananas 🍌 from the bottom, not the stem, no more strings. It works. God bless you all and many prayers 🙏🏻 ❤️

Not easy! Blessings!
Can’t wait to see you getting inside the house !!!
I've got one in San Francisco, two in Los Angeles, and the last one in North Carolina...So I moved to Nebraska. Lol
Both of my boys still live at home. 23 and 20. Both work and one is working on his masters degree too.
Gideon is a FAST runner!!
We love to watch all sorts. And love your less edited vides.
I loved hearing you say your kids don't have to leave. To many families kick their kids out when they turn 18. I have 5 children. 4 still live at home. It's their choice and I don't mind at all.
Use towels for several days have kids hang the towels up on Aline in there bathroom or bedroom to dry reuse several days.

I’m just soooo excited to see y’all move into the house! ❤
I love getting to watch the daily family life. I mean of course I enjoy watching the food content but family is where it’s at.
Thanks for sharing, we are just starting our journey!! 🙏🏻🙌 added some more cows this weekend
watching this AFTER hurricane Helene .......ugh ......been watching since the bus tour around America
Feeling this too. Most of my babies are grown and gone. Only a few left at home. I know it’s healthy and right but still really hard for me. Really hard.

Your too funny, you can't even grow bananas 😅
It took my brain a few seconds to process Justin in a baseball cap. It wasn't computing 😂
My in laws finished their roomy house, months before one left for college and another got married 😮 it takes years to be in a position financially to be able to get/build the bigger home... Life moves on!
It's cute that Henry likes to peel his banana the way it's actually supposed to be peeled. It's easier that way also 😉
I loved the comment you need some good karma. You are a great dad. Thank you for sharing your family.
Thanks for showing us your life. You are definitely one of the hardest working guys on UA-cam. Just wondering about the kids home school. Never see them doing any?👍
What a swell dad to carry ur 9yr old son on back. Go happy dad...
It flies right by!!!
Timothy will be 31 this year. We came up in 07 with the Fort Stewart youth group.

Need to incorporate a laundry chute from upper floor to where the washer and dryer are.
My MA worked outside the home. We kids lean fast how to take care of ourselves and each other. By age 10 u were doing ur own laundry. This was back when u had to iron everything unless u didnt mind wrinkles.

He can't go he jas a big beautiful new room waiting for him to enjoy for many years to come.
When my four children grew up it was hard, so I had my tubes untied and had another baby 😅. Now he’s almost 25! But I have my grandchildren 😊❤

Lilly has done so well in riding her horse! Justin it hard when the first leaves the nest but he will come back!❤

All states are different. In Oregon, you can drive your siblings from the start, and everyone else after 6 months.
“They have to fail”, and “but how did you learn it?” Oof. Right there, Mama!! As always, thank you for sharing Rhodes family 💜
JUST DON'T GET SAD WHEN THEY TRY OUT THEIR WING AND WHEN THEY DO IT'S CALL FREEDOM BUT THEY'LL COME BACK YOU HAVE BEEN BUILDING A CAREER FOR YOUR FAMILY JUSTIN YOU ARE A AMAZING DAD
12:02 how is he 9 already 😮❤😊
I only have one child and I'm not doing good with him growing up. Don't know how I'll survive when he leaves the home.
Maybe hair cuts while you are out. 😊
The Leaving is inevitable for our children . But some return and stay on the farm.
My oldest son went to college and when he called home, my husband had to answer the phone until I could stop crying and talk. When he came home to visit, I stood in the driveway as he left and cried. He's 40 now and I still tear up when I hear his voice....

Did you get rid of the other horse? Lily just has Shadow now? I must have miss an episode or two.
You're growing their roots so they can use their wings.
❤😊
Try yogurt for a chicken marinade
My son is 8 has probably 5 pairs of shoes- they are all lost 🤷♀️
My oldest daughter left in 2018, haven't seen her since. That part is sad.
When your kids start leaving you pray more! ❤ you have to just leave them in Gods hands.
