    A better way to objectively compare these products is to mask both brand name and price. The mere mention of brand name and/or price introduces unconscious bias in one form or another.

      This may be the case for OUR perspective but for THEIR perspective, they would basically need to use these things without knowing what brand there are for a month or two to get a good feel for which they prefer.

    Something high cost may not be high value.
    Something low cost doesn't necessarily mean low value.
    Some gear... mentioning no names... are costed over their actual value due to perceptions and fashions based around their names...

      Sort of how I feel about Aer even though I keep buying their products largely due to the design and I think that this is true for Peak Design as well.
      But to your point they did a review of travel products from Walmart and many of them scored pretty well.

    • @linedwell
      @linedwell 11 місяців тому +1

      @@tkozikow there's tons of Brand names that shouldn't cost what they do. People see the Name and have preconceptions and will pay 'Through the nose' as my dad used to say.

    • @tkozikow
      @tkozikow 11 місяців тому +1

      @@linedwell that's what marketing is all about, but personally I am willing to pay a premium for design and utility. The products I have from Aer are outstanding IMO in both form and function, but I know that there are lower cost options that may be close enough. However, since I typically purchase things for the long-term I think that the premium price makes sense. YMMV

    After hearing too many stories of houses burned down a couple of years ago, I threw all my cheap chargers (mostly from AliExpress) away and now only buy chargers and power banks from respectable brands.

    • @transatlant1c
      @transatlant1c 11 місяців тому +4

      Agree. Aliexpress is good for lots of stuff, but they have CE certification for a reason. That being said you don’t need to pay big box store prices for quality chargers either, so best to go somewhere in the middle is the sweet spot

    I have bought the low cost backpacks over the years for 30$ and will continue to do so , i could load it up with 16kgs , when shopping at home with tins , it lasted over 7yrs , never a problem with the zipper , travelled all around South and central america with it , great size for a carry on , by rain just used a 10$ rain cover , no need to spend over 300 $ on a SMALL backpack that will break in the same time

      😂 I mean if you're fine with the extra weight, not great comfort and weight distribution, a cheaper backpack might be fine.
      I'm using Osprey and Deuter backpacks - they are 7 years old and are also still mostly fine. It was less then 100€ then - so good mid price.

    It would also be interesting to compare where these items are made and the working conditions of those who are involved in the process. Ethical and sustainable processes matter to a lot of us.

      I'd go further down the rabbit whole and see how the countries themselves established a society where such things could of been made....and even further if there was any blood shed then and prior.

    Nitecore Carbo series power banks are THE best power banks i've ever used. I prioritize light weight and portability and don't need to charge a gazillion tech items while on the go and the nightcore's 20W output was more than enough for me. I have the 10000 and I remember exploring Istanbul everyday for 5 days straight and this power bank was so easy to carry and use. All i needed was to replenish my phone battery as i constantly used GPS going all over istanbul by foot and public transport. Did the same in london! Add a small 6 inch cable and you're good to go!

    Another way to save space is to get a universal charging cable that takes magnetic tips for different devices. The tips are usb-c, micro usb and lightning. That way one cable can charge any device you have.

    I’m amazed at folks who think a $345 backpack is “worth it” because it will outlast a $30 backpack. You can literally buy TEN of the cheaper backpacks. So it wears out? Buy another one and pocket the difference!

    • @kennethh8540
      @kennethh8540 11 місяців тому +3

      It's not just about the durability. You have to look at weatherproofness, organisation, weight, design and other features. A $30 backpack will not have these.

    • @Urbanjeffery
      @Urbanjeffery 11 місяців тому +2

      Clearly you don't live somewhere it rains a lot
      Hundreds of dollars of Tech in a bag that offers no protection against against the weather.
      Also doesn't factor in that they are more comfortable, better thought out with premium features and frankly more enjoyable to use.
      You can survive without one but it's wild how many people who have never owned one are experts on them

    A cheap charger vs expensive one mainly is how reliable they are.
    A charger catching fire is the most common electrical fire and just comes below cigarette fires where I live.
    Soooo get a decent brand.

    Camelbak and Yeti bottles are the best ones I’ve used. As an aside I think Goruck should be pronounced GoRuck lol. Also the price of GoRucks is silly. I’d take my Osprey for a third of the price.

    Might be worth testing the chargers plugged into a universal travel adapter. I haven't had the pleasure with my current Ugreen 100 watt one, but I could absolutely see it being too heavy for some adapters to stay in a US 2 pin socket (if only there were a widely available vastly superior and safer 3 pin plug design).

      I do think it's a glass coating layer above the metal - so not sure if it's as vulnerable.
      Though much to expensive for an issue, that can be solved with regular cleaning or refilling.
