This'll sound weird but I really like my Mark Ryland 33L pack. Mine has YKK zips and plenty of pockets. I car travel (band roadie) with it 20-25 weekends each year for the past 2-3 years...looks like new. I have 2 ebags packs one OBT sized (looks like a Tom Bihn bag, except ALL-BLACK, so better, IMO) and personal item sized with nice brown leather trim accents. Each were about $100, bought in 2018 still look brand new, and they're so damned functional.
This is great. Everyone always reviews all the $200-$400 bags, but neglects the entry level gear. I'm sure there are people on a super tight budget and maybe this just gives them the taste for travel. It is also a super underserved youtube crowd. It may not be everyone's first choice, but it could be their first travel gear purchase.
so down for this style of video! great way to test affordable gear and also see the process of decision making in choosing the best at different price points.
This is now my favorite review of Laura. She nailed the perfect blend of jokes and right amount of formalities which made the review more practical and connected to the viewers. Yes i also fidget with wallet clips and thanks for featuring our PHP50 bill. Love from Philippines!
Great vid! I really liked this 'change up' to reviewing travel gear. The switching between Lauren's arms to hairier man arms in the 'close up view' clips made me giggle too.
Thanks for doing this video! Travel can be so expensive. Waiting until you can afford all the perfect Gucci travel gear can create a huge barrier of entry to travel. I was impressed that you were able to give these items a fair chance. Also, a decent travel bag for $30 is insane! Lots of the bags that get recommended are 10Xs that expensive. ✌️
Can you guys make a video on bags/gear for working people? When I was a captain I struggled to find lunch containers that didnt leak, waterproof backpack/bags. Always needed portable chargers. I filled a M northface duffle everyday. I know construction workers everywhere would appreciate knowing where to spend there money
Upgrading the toiletry bottles seems worth the investment. For a cheap version I would swap out the provided bag and go for a simple 1 quart ziplock. After having soap spill once in my bag I am a strong believer in good quality for the the toiletry items. My entire first night in a new country was spent cleaning soap out of everything I own, never again.
I do have small Nalgene bottles for toiletries - they are durable, not that much more expensive and there's no chance they are leaking. And they are available in Europe - which is always a plus 🤗😉 I can fit 4 or 5 mini ones in a kid toiletry bag + hairbrush. That's enough for a few weeks
Another great video, Pack Hacker. I always wonder if I can actually find gear that works at some of these stores so happy to see you checked out Walmart. I'd love to see more videos like this.
Lauren asked for suggestions: Duluth Trading Company. I purchased one of their backpacks just before I was enlightened by PH. I’m happy with my Duluth bag but I would like to see a PH review also DTC has loads of travel accessories…but I don’t think the travel hatchet is TSA approved? Keep up the great reviews.
I bought the daypack on a trip and it's worn the test of time! it is very thin but pretty psckable and light. I was surprised it's so durable. Mine is a blue I don't really like but I have brought it on several trips over my marmot day pack!
Reeeeaaaallly appreciate that y'all did this at Wal-Mart. Travel can be accessible for more people even if you can't afford gear where each piece is over $100. Sometimes it's worth it for the quality - but not everyone can. Always enjoy and value all of y'all's reviews - thanks!
This affordable look at equipping for travel is great. 2 suggestions: 1-what affordable travel gear can be picked up at the REI garage sale/ReSupply area; 2-what affordable travel gear can be found while thrifting? That is how I picked up much of the gear I use. (Your many videos are excellent information about what I just picked up thrifting).
That'd be neat, but TJ Maxx is so location specific, it'd be hard to get the same gear at another store. Whereas you can walk into any Walmart and pick up most of this stuff.
It took me a couple of moments to understand that it was not laurens hands and arms presenting the items. Nothing wrong with that, just that I felt that something was off in some kind of spooky way until I made the realisation haha
@@PackHacker Ill be honest in that specifically with the Walmart video there wasn't one that stuck out. But I like the 'direction' of the video because it's the first video I've seen from you guys that show affordable gear. But I do think a video that showcases affordable gear from all stores, not just Walmart, would be an interesting one.
I've found the Ozark Trail line of insulated coffee mugs to be just as good as the more expensive ones (Y*ti) and I pretty much never travel without one. I'd think that their water bottles would be almost as good, too!
The toiletry kit there is one that I have and use, though it's more for something to bring in the car with places as it's useful for things like sunscreen, bug repellent, and a few other, larger things that are useful for outdoors activities where it just goes in and out of the car
@@PackHacker I really like the Ozark Trails travel mugs. I also like the SwissTech compression cubes and the toiletry bag is decent. Both are simple but get the job done.
Love great gear but sometimes we can't afford the best or don't need the durability of premium gear and have to seek more budget selections . How about a few times a month having reviews of more budget/value gear ?
HI Lauren, great viedo, Here in Italy we don't have Walmart, maybe a similar video can be made with a Decathlon store that I think is present not only here in Europe but also in US. What do you think about?
why did you buy 10+ bags for a "35L" bag? i dont think this is a reasonable list. should slow down on the pouches etc. and spend that money on a new wardrobe at walmart. for $173 you could have got literally everything you need including clothes, toiletries, electronics, containers, etc. Just bring your phone, headphones, passport, and ID that you already have and you are all set.
What’s your favorite bargain travel gear? 🛍😀💰✈
lululemon dup was cool and the carbiner
The backpack/duffel bag

Ikea has great ideas. Just can't get behind the politics behind walmart... so hard pass.
Hi, can you do a similar video on decathlon?
I like this spin on affordable travel gear at box stores. Please do more at other stores :)
What store should be next? 🧐
Kohls, Target, Costco, BJs, Gap, OldNavy...list of retail chains is endless
Yeah I sure can't afford bags that are hundreds of dollars, and it's discouraging watching videos with a lot of things I can't afford.
TJ Maxx, Columbia
REI can be a bit pricey. But I think that would be a fun video too!

Great video! I don’t know why but the seamless change between Lauren’s arms and the ‘b roll’ arms really made me laugh 😂
😂😂😂
What change? 😉

Another well done review by Team Pack Hacker! The Walmart spin was fun…especially Lauren going CRAZY at “Wally-World.”

This is a cool style of video. You could always do seasonal sale type videos or “what you can get with x amount of dollars at REI etc.”

I like that budget backpack! Good to have affordable options.
The Ozark Trail (formerly Outdoor Products) Traverse 25L is a great value at under $10, before tax. It's a fantastic little backpack.

YES great idea, you guys should do MUJI and Sierra store
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll pass it along.

The first fanny pack is a dupe of the Herschel Seventeen waist pack

The water bottles are terrific. Traveled with one for years. Keeps everything hot and cold
YES! They are so good! I have two of the slim ones (24oz, I think), a tumbler, and a giant 64oz one. I love them so much!
You should do a TARGET video!!!😅
Thanks for the suggestion! 🧐

You might consider adding the weight (packed and
unpacked) of the backpack/duffel. Weight is actually most important with anything you carry with you.
Amazing video! What an awesome idea/job!

I have a minimal wallet like that. 100% relatable in fidgeting with the money clip, haha.

Great video 📹 👍
Walmarts silicone 3.4 oz bottles are absolutely phenomenal for tooth paste.
I think your Wal-Mart has a better selection than either of mine. I've seen the red day pack but I'm not sure what else on your list I'd find.

Great deals here!

HI Lauren,

I second the Decathlon request.

Can put alcohol in the spray bottle and use it in place of deodorant
So.... Target next? 😁
👀👀👀
What place requires immunization still 😂😂
Was there really a need for 3 plastic bags?
