  • After being diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in April 2023 I wanted to share what my timeline of symptoms were to give some insight to anyone who think they may be suffering from the condition and to answer any questions anyone may have.
    As always if you have any thoughts or questions please leave in the comments
    Peace and Love
    Welcome to my channel Lifting out of the Lows where I share and document my experience with mental health, depression and bipolar cyclothymia and also psoriatic arthritis. I hope from sharing these videos and my experiences I'm able to help people along their own journey and make it somewhat easier (if that's possible) as I talk about things such as:
    * How to stop feeling depressed
    * My experience with mental health
    * How to stop feeling anxious
    * How to improve your mental health
    * My journey through life
    * How to take action
    * How to be happier in life
    * How to build a strong mind
    * How to deal with the challenges life throws at you
    I haven't got it all figured out, far from it. We're all on a journey that one never stops learning from but by creating these videos my aim is to help people and start more of a conversation around mental health. If you like the videos like, share and all the rest as the louder the message I'm sure the more people will benefit

    Age 23 I started getting scalp psoriasis, 6 years later I started getting painful feet and like you I put it down to being active lots of running etc, this got gradually worse over the next 2 years and spread into my knees and eventually my whole body. Swelling on right thumb and middle finger and lots of nail fungus. I work a Manual labour job and the pain was getting unbearable I literally had to crawl out of bed in the morning and face a full day on my feet. Tons of visits to different specialists with no resolve I eventually diagnosed myself through lots of googling and booked myself in to see a rheumatologist. I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and put on naproxen NSAID’s and methotrexate. That was a year ago and for me the meds have been wonderful most of my pain and swelling has gone and I almost feel like I did before it all started.
    The methotrexate has not however helped with the psoriasis on my scalp and I do feel fatigued more than usual. Thanks for sharing your story it’s interesting to see how it affects others!

      Glad it sorted the arthritis, for me that was the drainer. The psoriasis I can live with even though now thankfully it’s clearing up with the help of biologics

    Im 44 and have a the similar timeline and story. I was running every morning and doing little workouts at night until the fall/winter on 2022. I just kept getting slower and slower and then I had back pain for the first time ever. I thought I somehow got injured from always running, then I thought I just got old over night. I always heard older people complaining about getting old when I was younger. After the "injury" not healing and listening to other people's advice I finally went to the doctor after I could barely move. After about two years I took my first self injection of my arthritis medicine this weak. I don't know how much it will change things but it is helping already a little. I thought there was nothing that the doctors could o to help because I thought I just got old over night somehow.

      I’m glad you got a diagnosis. If you follow the same pattern in regards to results from the meds then hopefully you’ll get rid of the pain. It’s been a long road but I feel insane amounts of gratitude every day now. I completely relate to the feeling of being old. I felt like a 90 year old in a 31 year olds body

      I had but I was asymptomatic. There is some data which suggests having Covid could of triggered it even thought there is genetic components

    Did your Achilles hurt? Both are tender for me, left more swollen but actually more painful on right . Hope you are improving! I’ll get an ultrasound on my finger soon. Already have a bone erosion on one of my finger xrays (where i have had multiple flares ) and doc hasn’t made final diagnosis or started meds yet

      I didn’t have any problem with my Achilles. It was the soles of my feet and the sides also. I hope you get a diagnosis and can move forward with your situation. Wishing you well!

    I have just been with Psoriatic arthritis, I also tried methotrexate and it didnt help me to be honest, I am now on humera injections twice weekly. My wrists are very painful and my middle finger is bent, I am really hoping the humera injection works for me, do you know how long it takes to kick in before you feel relief ?

    How did they diagnose you? Blood work?
    My hands are like yours and it happened over a month last year. ANA is low positive but no other blood work is positive. Still going to rheumatologist and just had low dose radiation treatment for arthritis and dupuytrens

      I don’t think blood work can diagnosis PsA, they just looked at all my symptoms and the fact I had psoriasis to make a judgement

    Early 2023 I had which I also thought was severe dandruff which worsened til end of 2023. Early 2024, scaly patches were appearing on my skin, and eventually became generalized. Went to my doctor on May 2024 and was diagnosed with Psoriasis so I had topical steroids. Then just a week ago, I started feeling some pain on my right thumb joint. It's very tolerable but it doesn't feel normal for me especially that I don't do any heavy or rigorous activities. So I guess this definitely is the start of my PsA 🥲 Thank you for sharing your story.

      I’m sorry to hear about the psoriasis but try to not jump to any conclusions about arthritis. I hope you find resolve with whatever the issue is. Wishing you health and peace ✌️
