Its one of the best shows in general, I feel like people should say that its one of the best shows period. Its so underrated, I feel like not enough people don't give Sci-fi shows a chance.
The Baltimore introductory shot: they had an helicopter flying close to a massive crane, passing the camera to it, then moving the camera down the crane into the hand of an operator that then followed Amos into a crowd of extras. They really cranked up the cinematography of this season to a 1000. And next episode (as someone else said, directed by Thomas Jane) has a lot of incredible shots as well. They are easy to miss on first watch when you are caught up in the story but, jeez, they really did an awesome job so far this season.

A space elevator would represent an incredible efficiency for getting mass into orbit, but it would be an engineering project far larger than humanity has ever attempted.
Amos has no issue with drug markets and sex work. He has intense, personal issue with how it is conducted and he lacks faith in there being enough good actors to keep it within consensual and safe bounds - when he has greater faith, he is happy to allow the market to take place. He has a justice interest that pops off when he thinks he can make a single difference to saving another, like he felt he has been saved before.
One of the things that you are missing is that most of the population live on Basic, and then there are The Undocumented (like Amos, Erich, and Lydia) who don't even receive Basic.
I just realized that he quoted Xerxes and the 4th episode title refers to a battle where Alexander the great defeats the Persians and takes over their empire. Also Marco's ship is named after the birthplace of Alexander the great

I remember hearing that the best hoped material for a real life space elevator (carbon nanotubes and graphene) are actually very unlikely to be sufficient for such a project. Basically a space elevator wouldn't really work unless we find some other even better material, which is very unlikely since we're already looking at molecular structural material. On the Moon and Mars though, we could actually build them there using current materials. Interestingly there might be a kind of rotating untethered space elevator called a skyhook that might be able to help make lighter and cheaper spacecraft that fly up to the edge of space, going sub orbital, only to catch a ride into orbit. Just a little real life sci fi for you folks.

Apparently, Alex is not in season 6 and that's where the writers will stop..for now. Let's have a film for 7-9 to tie it all off. They did it for Firefly. I don't think they changed it per se - they're just not telling the entire story. They sort of hinted Lydia was a complicated and in some ways questionable person.
In the books earth has something like 30 billion population. Sounds huge right? With fusion power the carrying capacity of the planet would easily meet that. Heck greenhouses are 10x as productive has open fields so just make every field a greenhouse and you can feed 80 billion with the land currently used.
Population growth predictions irl say the global number will stop around 11-13 billion, but yes the planet could easily support more than that if technology and infrastructure were better, but then that’s always been the problem. Especially infrastructure, it takes a while to catch up to the present reality, if it ever does.

There are only so many actors and because there are many more shows with Amazon,Netflix etc its fun how so many reactors seem shocked to see them in the different shows.But apart from this covid year it has been a boom time for many actors. I remember not so long ago when interviewed they were always appreciative to be in work apart from the 'A' list and established character actors. not so long ago when interviewed they were always appreciative to be in work apart from the 'A' list and established character actors.
