This is like if Lil Dickie loved frogs and made vids about it
I'd love to see an update video - unless you think you'd do it the same way as you did back then.
i love what you do man! SO glad i found your website and this channel. Looking forward to purchasing from you
Great information. Kept it short and sweet. Good job dude
I found this extremely helpful, the best so far. Thanks dude.
Of course, we are so glad to hear it was helpful!
Moss is an impaction risk for dumpys, leaf litter is preferred.
Thanks I really appreciate the video
Awesome!!!
Can't wait to see the one for corn snakes and ball python
I love frogs
Your products and info are so amazing! So for the bio set ups I could use a tank or Eco Terra?
Thank you very much! You can use any kind of tank. I just prefer the Exo Terras for the aesthetics.
Will you have any whites tree frogs available in a month or two? Or do you have a recommendation on where to buy a heathy captive bred Whites tree frog? The 18-18-24 is recommended for the younger ones correct or will it work for a adult as well?
You should do a video on the Western Hognose Snake kit next :^o
Love your videos! Would this set-up (apart from the Temperature and humidity differences) work for a Sierran Treefrog?
Hi Graham, go ahead and send me an email and I can talk specifics with that species : )
does this kit come with the cleanup crew?
Can you please add links in the description for convenience.
Dude, can this be done with a pacman frog setup?? They are a heavily burrowing species, so im curious how a bio active setup would work for them. Maybe you could do a video on that? :)
where do you buy the Isopods and springtails?
Do I need to get a heat lamp or does the lamp provided cover that?
Hey dude could you make an updated version of the dart frog setup?
Eventually, yes. I will be doing one for darts and many others.
the lamp on the plastic sheet?
Do you sell that particular light or know what information is for it? Thank you!
Is a 20 gallon hexagonal okay for 2 whites tree frogs?
My mom is thinking about letting me have a dumpy frog. I'm wondering, you sell 20 gallon cages correct? Also, you would prefer the drainage layer more, or the ball ones, sry don't know what its called. Can you tell I'm a beginner? I'm scared I will set things up the wrong way and end up killing my pet frog☹😦😢
What differences would i need for an american bullfrog? love your vids, keep it up!
So hard to find any care guides for American Bullfrogs :/
I have my dumpy in a 12x12x18 tall. She’s still a juvenile, but should I get a larger one for her as she becomes adult? She is alone in it, I had another one live in it thru adulthood about 7 yrs......he passed away during a hurricane, which I don’t really understand because the power only was out half a day.
Does the kit come with a tank ?
wet and dripping. Got it.
For the Sahara i would recommend getting it a little drier - it will even itself out pretty quickly after it is established.
Can you do a Madagascar Giant Day Gecko Setup ?
Where can i find your store?
I've always wondered what happens when the drainage layer fills up. I assume that the water doesn't magically vanish when it comes into contact with the drainage media. Does it ever fill up and become stagnant? How do you deal with that when it occurs? I love the idea of self sustaining tank ecosystems, but the drainage layer always causes me to wonder.
When the water level reaches the top end of the HydroGro i just drain it out with a small tube and siphon it out. typically, for these moderate humidity biomes you do not need to worry about that.
Do you think you could remake this as there is probably updated information that could be included for the whites tree frog care?
Hey hey! I will link One of the Dudes Blogs for the whites tree frog care! Hope it helps! let us know if you have any questions! www.thebiodude.com/blogs/reptile-and-amphibian-caresheets-with-cited-veterinary-and-herpetology-sources/white-s-tree-frog-caresheet-and-bioactive-maintenance
Is the terra flora the same as the jungle floor or is it a new mix?
Reptiles4u they are two completely different substrates.
Do you have whites tree frogs on your website? If so when will they be in stock.
Hi Zachary. We do not sell Whites Tree frogs. Sorry.
How often do you have to water the plants and how much should I water them
It depends on the type of enclosure and plant. Ferns tend to like a small drink every few days. Most of my tropicals like small drink a couple times a week. I've noticed, once my vivariums are established, they need less and I drop it to once a week.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
he has an obsession with the mister
i love this setup but question do you need like a misting machine or just spray it every day
Spray everyday
You could use either
Water dish and heat?
Do I have to wait for the cultures to develop before getting the frog?
i would wait especially if you are going to add plants so they can get a chance to grow before your frog eats them becuase he probably will
Hey my man! Just ordered the dumpy frog bio kit from your website! Was it supposed to come with the springtails and the other culture? Or were those sold separate? Just wondering as I’m trying to put my kit together but those seem to be the only thing I’m missing.
I don’t think the microfauna are included in the kit, but the dude has lots of microfauna for sale.
there’s a bio-shot with the kit but i’m not sure if it’s the same thing
Do I ever need to change the hydrogrow?
No, but I do recommend syphoning it when the water line is close to the substrate to prevent a water logging situation
what plants are safe to put with whites tree frogs?
Hi Olivia. Amost any tropical plant will do well in their enclosure. I would stick with thick, sturdy and broad leaved plants.
Sphagnum moss doesn't decompose instantly or even after a month or two I really takes thousands of years and the decomposed product is peat moss
It does take time, but your essential microfauna LOVE it and readily break it down.
Will this work for any tree frog?
adjusting it to the specific animals husbandry requirements, yes !
can you mix differnt colors of the same species?
Not with poison dart frogs
With whites frogs yes
Does the kit include the cleanup crew
The kits do not include the bugs as they have to be shipped via FedEx overnight. The kits have the BioShot instead which does everything the bugs do, overtime aside from soil aeration.
will bioshot die if kept in the bag
Can I use real moss instead of the spagnum moss
You can yes, just make sure it is clean.
Wait, Do I still gotta change the water on the water bowl constantly....That might be a dumb question but I’m a Dumb person so what can I say 😔
Yes water changes daily
So you never have to clean up or replace the soil?
You do have to spot clean occasionally, but if you maintain your soil appropriately you should not ever have two replace it entirely, but just add more over time as it breaksdown or compacts.
The whites tree frogs are arboreal aren’t they?
For the most part. There are times they will venture on the ground.
Do you have a bio kit for golden geckos
We could do a custom invoice for you. Just let us know what you are thinking and reach out to us at customercare@thebiodude.com or call us at 717 305 0684
I know I’m late but I’m looking on what frog to buy, which type would you recommend is best for handling? I’m not exactly the type to just watch.. I get bored very easily
Whites Tree frog 100% are the best for handling. And they're the cutest in my opinion
I can't seem to understand what's so good about the hydro-grow. It's perlite isn't it? Or am I missing something?
That brings up the question; Can I just use perlite as my drainage layer instead of the hydrogrow? It's very small in size, widely used in plant soil basis to add air pockets and drainage, creates a very good even layer and doesn't harm animals if ingested by mistake
I subbed to your channel btw :) Its a very good channel, I like watching the whole setup build and hearing you explain in a concise manner. Very good information!
It's perlite that's cooked longer to make larger pieces.
Hm if you're going to use moss mix it in the substrate secondly whites tree frogs need height not length
do you have to mix the moss in with the substrate. is it not safe otherwise?
wait what kind of tank do i need
10 gallon for young frogs and 20 for two, or a grown frog. So 20 is probably best since you’ll eventually need a 20 anyways.
Also l, can one adult fit live in a 10 gallon or not?
I don't think the moss is really a good idea because the frogs might accidentally ingest it which can cause impaction :/ but other than that, great vid :p
I like the facts u just need a new camera ik this is an old video and ur camera man kept putting his or her hands in the video
That wasn’t supposed to happen
Aren't whites tree frogs arboreal?....
Nice but too small for white tree frog.
Not for a young one, we recommend at least a 29 gallon per for an adult.
Josh, you’re a cutie.
you look like kurtis conner
no.
bruh u got the wrong cage man
White tree frog need height not width!!! Turn that enclosure on its side bro
Agreed/. This is for a neonate and would not recommend this size for anything older than 3 months
I'm sorry but I must say that is way too small of a tank for a dumpy, they need at least 20-30 gallons and another 10 per extra dumpy, and a tall terrarium.
You should do a video on how to drop misters and not pic them up
Bruh
Can't believe you tell people that the tank you have just done is for whites tree frogs.its nowhere near big or tall enough for dumpies. It's just plain cruel to think otherwise
I agree that the current size is too small. However, it's essential to acknowledge that the video is quite old, dating back years. Since then, our community has developed and expanded, realizing the importance of providing much larger accommodations. As our understanding grows, husbandry practices evolve continually.
Ugh so cringy when you drop that bottle
