This is a great video! I'm gonna be using this to build my first vivarium ever next week, this was super helpful and gave me a lot of inspiration for the design with the wood configuration. Thanks! :)
Everything is great except the fact you cleaned the terrarium with soapy water. I recommend cleaning it with a mix of distilled water and vinegar because soap could potentially harm a frog depending on what chemicals are in it
Excellent setup!!!!! Currently working on mine, this gave me so much inspiration. Actually buying my cork bark background as I type this! Where did you get that wood (looks like galapagos)? I love it!
Thank you so much for watching! I’m so glad I was able to help you out :) I got the wood from Josh’s Frogs online definitely recommend you check it out for any vivarium work!
Yes they can be!! Just cover all your bases as far as temp gradients, humidity curves and Bioactivity clean up crew. I got my wood from Josh’s Frogs :) Good luck! And thanks for watching!
You've made a spectacular setup for your bioactive terrarium. Are frogs Hyla caerulea? Are beautiful! We have the same passions, subscribed and likes. Keep in touch
hi I have a whites tree frog and thinking of getting a bioactive terrarium like this, I was wondering what do you feed your frogs? and do you hand feed them? I'm feeding mine crickets just by putting a few in there not hand feeding. Are non hand fed crickets okay to feed the frogs in bioactive terrarium like will the frogs be able to find them with all the leafs/dirt and plants?
Hi, thank you for watching and asking! I feed mine mostly crickets as well but also offer dubias and occasionally a hornworm. They are able to catch their prey with no issues in my experience so hand feeding is more of an option but not necessary. As long as you spot clean any big debris, the clean up crew will take care of all other terrarium related waste. Good luck!
I'd sure like to know how you provide UVB with a glass top. Showing how you did the lighting for basking and UVB consumption would be a great addition.
Thanks for watching! It has a mesh top. Adult dumpys should have a humidity gradient with alternating states just like they experience in the wild. The mesh allows for this + UVB allowance.
I personally mist myself every day with treated water but there is definitely room to install an automatic mister as well maybe in the future :) thanks for watching!
That’s correct once inhabitants are occupying the set up, however prior to applying the background its ok as the glass needs to be rid of all pollutants for proper adhesive of silicone :)
I’ve probably watched this video a dozen times or more, I absolutely love the final presentation and admire the work you put into it. It’s just beautiful! I recently bought an 18” x 24” x 36” or 55 gallon OiiBO terrarium for my 4 juvenile dumpies, it should be here any day and after watching your video I’m so excited to decorate it for them. My question is: because I’m upgrading from a smaller hexagonal tank I need more and taller things for them to hide in and climb. I apologize if this has already been asked, but where might I find the large driftwood pieces you used in this one? My local pet store had some beautiful natural ledge type rocks, but when decorating the enclosure they’re in now I quickly found out that it was way too heavy, so I guess I’m looking for any ideas to use in the new one as well. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
Hey thank you so much for your kind words and supporting my video! I am happy it can be an example for you and hope your set up comes together as well as you envision it! I got most of my supplies from Josh’s Frogs website, I suggest you check in there :)
Can never go wrong with a good frog (or 2)!
Never 😉
Yo this is actually fire
Great video
Thanks for watching man :)

wow and do you do this with all your tanks its amazing and crazy
Most of them😉thanks for watching

Thanks for the tip!
@@Trellemania no problem!
This is so well done, I hope to make mine like this

What plants did you use? I’m really trying to find some for mine😆
Any water snake updates? Wondering about him lol
Are bio active enclosures good for first time dumpy tree frog owners ?? And where did you get your wood ?
Yes they can be!! Just cover all your bases as far as temp gradients, humidity curves and Bioactivity clean up crew. I got my wood from Josh’s Frogs :)

@@Trellemania You are welcome my friend!
Hello excellent setup, but what was the blue glue looking thingy you used at the start?
Thank you for watching! I linked it in the description :)
@@Trellemania thanks, I’m building one right now :)
Where did you get the background? Is it something you had to pre-cut yourself or can this be purchased from somewhere?
I got it precut to my tanks size from Josh Frogs but I did have to cut it further when it arrived

what do you use for humidity. it looks very humid in there which they love
I use a Spray nozzle once a day 😊 humidity raises in the am and night and drops in the day like the wild
I'd sure like to know how you provide UVB with a glass top. Showing how you did the lighting for basking and UVB consumption would be a great addition.
Or maybe it's a screen top. It's hard to tell. If that's the case, how do you keep humidity stable?
Thanks for watching! It has a mesh top. Adult dumpys should have a humidity gradient with alternating states just like they experience in the wild. The mesh allows for this + UVB allowance.
Which expanding foam did you use?
Do you have to manually mist every day, or is there a built in mister? And what do you mist with ?
I personally mist myself every day with treated water but there is definitely room to install an automatic mister as well maybe in the future :) thanks for watching!
Do the froggies not eat the cleanup crew tho??
How long did you wait before adding frogs?
What kind of paint did you use for the sides?
What silicones did you use?
I have a link in the description if you are interested in the silicone I used :) thanks for watching
Where did you get that background from? Also where did You get the moss from?
Josh’s Frogs as well :)
They sell everything from the tank to the cork to the substrate to the plants to the frogs themselves. Good luck!!
@@Trellemania Thank you!
What kind of light or heat if u use any
Do you think I should do biactive or reg as a beginner?
As long as you cover your frogs needs and size requirements both are equally good choices 😊
What's that light called? Please and thank you!
What background did you use?
I got a cork background specifically cut to my tanks size from Joshs Frogs
Please post supply list
Will work on that! Thanks for watching!
Kind of glue used?
Thanks for watching! I have tagged it in the description
Can we get another water snake update?
Thank you for the suggestion! Working on a new tank for water snake now actually :)
How long do u let the plants and isopods adjust
I like to do 2 weeks at least but if you could do a whole month it would be even better! Thanks for watching!
I just really don’t know what to use besides spring tails for a clean up crew in mine
Springtails and isopods of various sizes work very well 👍 I also put in some superworm beetles
whats is the background you use ?
Thanks for watching! Link to the background is in the description :)
Why not leave a link to buy the items
Very smart! I added links to the description :)
wait so for every exo terra you need to put silicone and that other stuff?
I do just cause I like the look and it gives extra surface area for the frogs to grab on to when climbing 😊
@@Trellemania ok thatnks :
Aren’t supposed to use soap, or windex. Diluted vinegar water only.
That’s correct once inhabitants are occupying the set up, however prior to applying the background its ok as the glass needs to be rid of all pollutants for proper adhesive of silicone :)
I thought humidity needed to be between 60-90%?
Adults require less humidity with spikes throughout the day
