I've got my first PRS match coming up at a local range. I'm bringing what I plan to use in the mammoth sniper challenge, so it won't be traditional PRS stuff, but it will be a gas gun. I'm hoping to compete in TTG sniper challenge with my son. At all 3 events, I'm just looking to learn and see how I do.
@@dbut5427good choice. I did an 18” Ballistic Advantage buildwhich is essentially Aero. Using the OPS12 SS barrel. The thing is a tack driver at 100 yards. Now I’m Looking for (and found) a 100 to 1000 yard range. Just need to go check it out.
This is exactly for me. I’m looking to my first match this year. This issue I’m running into is the optic. I just don’t want to run a LPVO. I would much prefer a 2x10/3x18. I know that moves me divisions at a QP match. Should I keep the 16” barrel or make a move to an 18”? Awesome video and appreciate any advice you may have!
If you’re looking to be competitive, an 18” will get you just a little more velocity of course. My 18” gun did very well in practical division. I get the desire for more magnification! When I shoot in practical, I like using a 4-16 set somewhere around a max of 12x typically. I do also like the more precise reticle vs the LPVO options, but the LPVO is still very capable. For your first match though, if you’ve got a 16” with an LPVO, jump into GP with us and you’ll be impressed with that the rifle can do!
@@sunandshadow_llc honestly it as an eye relief situation. An LPVO at max zoom is just not an enjoyable experience. At least not yet for me. The eye box for a 2-10 is far more forgiving. I don't have any illusions of placing first, however I am concerned that the 16" barrel is going to be at too much of a disadvantage in the practical division.
I’d go with heavy sand fill if you’re doing regular matches; it offers max stability. Field matches or hunting where you have to hike/ruck I’d go with Git Lite.
There are a number of good barrels, but right now the SOLGW SPR barrels seem to provide some of the best value. Proof, White Oak, Criterion, and similar are also excellent choices.
Great question. We're working on a "match finder" tool on our website that is almost ready. Right now, I'd recommend checking the Quantified Performance site and schedule to see if there are any matches coming your way.
Hey man… I’m in the southeast as well… do you know of any ranges in northeast GA that have distance greater than 100-200yds? I have 200yds to shoot all day, but I really want to start stretching my rifle out to distances of 500+, just don’t know where to go
I don't know that area too well, but the distance ranges that come to mind around N GE will be Strategic Edge in TN, Sawmill in SC, and Arena Training Facility down south in GA.
For someone looking to get into QP and other DMR matches in the Panhandle, these are great. Thanks for posting them!
Enjoyed the vid. I have 1 of your cheek risers. Good product.
Thanks very much!!
Great video with very good info! I also suggest going to a match as an Observer! See what people are using and ask lots of questions!

Dang dude that sounds like an awesome year of shooting! I’m looking forward to the TTG Sniper Challenge.
Great video as always.
Thanks buddy!
@sunandshadow_llc I am going to Frankenstein an SPR build and see how it rolls. 18" Aero upper.

Thank you for making this video. What brand of bag is that?
Sure thing! This one is the pint size game changer from Armageddon Gear.
I mainly shoot bench rest but I recently started using a Fortune Cookie from Wiebad and it's pretty solid with their standard fill.

What Bipod QD adapter is that?
This is the ADM Harris Bipod QD conversion; my favorite QD for the Harris -S bipods
What type of fill do you recommend for a shooting bag?

Stock riser pad?
In your bag, do you use sand or the lite fill?
My personal preference is the Git Lite fill but I’m probably in the minority at these matches. There are pros and cons to each option.
Thank you. Would the same gun work for Tactical Games?
Yeah absolutely. I have a gun with both QP wins and a Men’s Elite podium. The 16” LPVO general purpose rifle is the most capable gun you can own!
Would 6mm max be good for this QP match style?
Do you know a website to look up matches?
@maesawa_ checkout out our site for the Scoped Carbine Match Finder Tool: www.sunnshadow.com/learn

Is caliber limited to 5.56?
No, QP does not restrict cartridge in any division. Other SPR/DMR matches may have caliber-specific divisions.
