MXR knows what's up with ambient lately. A little bit cheaper alternative to those chase bliss pedals I guess. Great demo and intro/ending tracks as always!
thanks dude! Honestly I think it'd take anyone a minute to remember all the alt controls, but from there I think it's pretty straightforward to use, personally.
SOLD! I was looking for a replacement for my SuperEgo - I play the Chapman Stick and LOVE the GameChanger Audio PLUS pedal for my bass side of the Stick - LOVE the feel of pressing the foot pedal for swelling and drones like a piano pedal sustain pedal BUT this I can use one the lead string's on auto capture mode as it's pretty hard using both feet doing swells and drones on each chain simultaneously! I play ambient music and a fusion of other genres and constantly CHASING the SWEET tones that live within ambient spaces :) I've seen a few demo's of this pedal - some great one's too BUT your demo was the TOP's for my ear's and eyes! Very well done audibly AND with the notation's explaining current setting's!!! BIG THANK YOU!
I agree with you for the most part, with the exception of the Carbon Copy Delay. That pedal has been around for over a decade and has more character than any pedal I’ve ever played. You can get incredible ambient washes if you place a reverb before it, increase the delay time, and turn on the modulation. It has a beautiful dark delay tone.
oh, wow,, you used the Mood as well.. ! Really good video, thanks so much. I’ve recently decided to get into the pedalboard craze…. and i have been digging into my very 1st top 3..or 5.. hehehe.. to add some flavor to Amplitube..as it.. sooner or later renders too generic. The Layers & the new Mood 2 are my 1st picks, most definitely. I’m a sucker for these kinds of options.. walls of sounds and atmospheric stuff.. delays.. etc.. I was thinking of closing it up with the Microcosm .. but i am starting to think it might be a bit redundant.. with the 1st two. What do you reckon ? I’ll use them in a more jazzy post-rock, and not only with guitars..but also bass, and mallet percussion.
Always a pleasure to watch a pedal demo on your channel. I thought you would of paired it up with the Joshua. Did you keep the Joshua or was it not quite your cup of tea? Been on the fence about it honestly. Not sure what to look for/what I want in a delay pedal. Thanks for the demos. Until next time.
@@joshuanedzweckas9668 I did not keep the Joshua-nothing wrong with it, I just have limited storage space and have to move some stuff every so often, and I have plenty of delay already. Only way to know what you like personally though is to just try out as much as you can 🤷🏻♂️
It's legit! The Fortin Cali Suite sounds rad and I know you use the Nolly one a lot, so you know how nice the whole workflow is. If anything I'm just on the fence about dirt pedals with it-I think what comes out is perfectly good, I just haven't yet found a setup that sounds/feels quite like pedals with my real amps. But there are so many variables to that, with some more time and tinkering I'm sure I could get it in the ballpark. (Also just so no one gets confused, I used my Marshall 2525H Silver Jubilee in the intro and then the rest is NDSP Fortin Cali Suite. Just made things a lot easier when switching between mono and stereo for this one.)
@@ambienttrash5234 Thanks for such a detailed response! I thought the demo sounds were super round like a fender amp but had that higher presence from a Marshall or 5150... Actually really interested in that plugin now! I can totally understand where you're coming from about the drive sounds, you have some of the best drive sounds in the game so keep doing what you're doing! Lol.
I had no idea MXR had this kind of thing in them, it's really wonderful. Also your sounds with it are *so* gorgeous

The MXR M300 Reverb is also amazing for ambient, especially the Mod and Epic modes.
@@deathseeseems like this pedal is too complex for you.
I just didn't know I needed this pedal until now

This is pure fire... the music crushes as always. It even makes me think i might be smart enough to use this pedal.

havent owned an mxr pedal in like 15 years, this thing sounds amazing!
This sounds so awesome in stereo. Definitely need to make some room for this on my board. Thanks for the killer demo!

Came to see a demo….and discovered this awesome tune!
what a damn good demo.
Fantastic demo. Thanks.
Sick demo, man!
sweet. my semi-annual ambient trash fee (buying a new pedal) is here
gorgeous melodies
wonderful device ❤
MXR has always seemed a very vanilla kinda company, finally making something with some color and flavor.

Using a pedal to glitch the filtered drums? Love the intro track and the mix.
thanks! Used some dotted 8th delay on the intro drums, into the Illformed Glitch 2 plugin and then a bunch of filtering

Amazing demo. You are using this as it was intended. Wonderfully done.
thank you, yup it's TRS in and out (but regular TS works fine in mono I/O)

how does this MXR layers compare to the EH Superego+?
Im still surprised your tech didn’t shield the body cavity
