You want to be very careful cleaning the op rod there. That tip is actually a piston that requires very tight tolerances. You should not grease your op there. It is required to grease the op rod where the bolt cam rides. You can put a little oil on the op rod spring but no grease on the op rod except where noted.
There’s literally no excuse to *not* grease moving that take excessive amounts of bearing stress, especially parts like the Operating Rod or just the m1 Garand in general. I use almost nothing but grease on the M1 except for parts that grease can’t get to, so I use a quality oil.
My stamping on the grip correlates to the exact same clicks up on the sight adjustment to zero at 100 yrds. But I adjusted the elevation knob to get it there.
More or less and that’s what I thought too at first. But the guy who recommended it I would trust with any of my guns and knows a lot more than me so I gave it a try. I can really tell a different in the material from standard steel wool or a slight tin scrubbing pad and I’m good with it. Thanks for coming by!
